  1. During a week's stay in Devon last year, I sampled (Amongst many others) the Butcombe, Otter and Wooden Hand offerings, and found them all to be very palatable indeed. Also, the Wells Banana Bread was available in the Ashton Arms on Friday night, and is well worth trying (If the strong banana smell doesn't put you off).
  2. And so it came to pass, that the hammer did come down and strike the nail firmly on its head.
  3. Strangely enough, I feel confident that we'd struggle in L2 once we'd cut our cloth to suit our league standing.
  4. I'd give up if I were you Ryan. Intellectual engagement is fruitless when only one of you is armed.
  5. No doubt about it, they are all highly likely to have been detrimental to players' attitudes and state of mind.
  6. It wasn't when JS was boss, and it hasn't been this season though, has it? I understand the thought behind it, but it always seems to unbalance things.
  7. Replace JJ with Mvoto and Jones with Taylor, and add Morais, Tarky and White to the subs bench, and you have the best balanced side we've put out all season, with the added bonus of a quick wide player to run at teams for the last 15 minutes. That side has been messed with too much, and confidence has been shattered, just as it was with Shez in charge. Why do they feel the need to fix what aint broken, in the name of 'strengthening' the side?
  8. What????? He's responsible for most of the divots on the tees, branches missing off trees, bare patches in the rough, lack of sand left in the bunkers and broken windows on the car park!!! Mind you, he has put quite a bit of money into the club already this year - he's bought about 20 new jumpers with 'Captain 2011' embroidered onto them so no-one forgets! As for the Golf Day, it's nice to see some more business coming into the club, just as long as it doesn't interfere with our usual 12.45 tee-off at Werneth on a Friday
  9. Hope they repair their divots - especially around the crease.
  10. White lets the ball bounce in the area under pressure at 47 secs instead of heading out of play. Hazell at 50 secs has a free header and manages to clear it just 7 yards. Hope PD & GT are picking up on this?
  11. Oh, all of them. Why not? Might as well furnish us with as much opinion as you like while its quiet.
  12. Hazell cock up leads to defeat. There's a statement that's becoming all too frequent.
  13. Massive? Have a look at the league standings at the time. Which club a player is registered to has cock all to do with the issue. FFS, Bruce Grobbelaar played 4 games for us, Bobby Johnstone and World Cup winner Ray Wilson both played for us - what the hell has the club got to do with it? Kenny Cooper was at Utd - 'Nuff said. I can't be arsed with the argument. Some of us have grown up things to do. Just accept that some see it differently.
  14. If I'd said RB, someone would have pulled me up, stating that Denis played LB for Utd. I was kind of hoping the point got across with minimal effort
  15. No. It isn't. In fact, it has little relevance whatsoever. When Denis Irwin was at Latics and Lee Martin was playing LB for Utd, would that mean Martin was the better of the two, just by virtue of the fact he was on the Utd books? Amos is a 4th choice keeper who (IMO) won't make the grade without a massive amount of improvement, and Dean Brill has also come as far as he is likely to, after playing in the lower leagues for the bulk of his career. Who is to say Amos wouldn't have been dropped twice if he'd stayed? Neither have proved themselves any better than the other, and other than reading statistics that are (Perhaps wrongly, who knows?) loaded in favour of Brill, there is only opinion dividing the two - Thanks for yours, but I'll stick with mine.
  16. Matter of opinion that. There's no evidence to support your claim. However, if you were to look at the statistics...... Truth is, I'm not keen on either, but nor was I a fan of Pogs. We are a club with a history of decent keepers, but times have clearly changed, and we bring in what we can afford, I suppose.
  17. Their league status will have as much of a bearing on sales as the new ground (If not more) I'd have thought.
  18. Glad it's not just me who thinks Amos has been vastly overrated since his arrival here. His shot-stopping has been impressive at times, but his positioning has been questionable to say the least, and his kicking is as bad as anything I've seen between our sticks. Brill is no hero in goal, but he's no worse than Ben Amos.
  19. Gerry's department - maybe he could offer some insight into how exactly they practice defending set pieces and far post crosses?
  20. Not sure we can blame ANYONE for complaining last season
  21. Its the current FA board in their younger days.
  22. What amuses me is the reputation Mainstanders have for moaning. From what I and others have seen, the CRE has more than its fair share of them. Admittedly there do seem to be one or two Mainstand upper dwellers who are pretty vocal in their criticism, but they never quite seem to be as butch as their venom suggests if you know what I mean?
