  1. How do so many people know what piss tastes like? I can honestly say I've never had the misfortune of 'accidentally' urinating into my own mouth, nor indeed accepting the offer of sampling someone elses. Am I missing out?
  2. A short piece that contains nine spelling or simple grammatical errors. Well done WebMonkey. There. If everyone else is having a dig at everything the Club does, I'm jumping on the bandwagon.
  3. Admire the logic behind the idea, but I think the players would benefit from the support more. Particularly in such an important game.
  4. What??? On a web forum? How dare you! Do you think these sites were set up just so people could come along and display their views to the world? Christ man! What do you think would happen if you made a factual error? Or worse still, had your posts taken out of context, making you appear condescending or smug? Get a bloody grip, and toe the line! Actually, stop worrying and carry on, fella! Some of us enjoy watching a debate heat up, and can decide for ourselves which party is spouting the most bollocks (Sometimes you, sometimes others). It's part of what we log on for.
  5. *Sat in retirement home chair, tartan blanket over knee* "Remember back in 2011 when I bought that soft toy from T'Latics? Single handedly saved them from extinction I did!"
  6. At a time when we're all bemoaning the demise of that great British tradition, the pub, I can't believe you're advocating depriving them of much needed custom. Shame on you.
  7. I wondered who it was when I saw it. It's the only decent deal on there this week! I just hope we put in a decent performance against Carlisle - the stayaways will probably need some convincing after the last reduced admission games.
  8. Every team in the division is going to have an off day or two at some point. We've just had one of ours. We move on of course, but only if we've learned from it. Pumping the ball in the air against a team that were winning 95% of the headers wasn't smart, especially when most of our goals come from playing the ball on the floor through our wings. Half-arsed performances from Tounkare, Stephens and Trotman, plus ineffectual use of White and Evina's pace all added to a very mediocre performance, when we'd hoped that another fabulous display might encourage the extra few hundred supporters who were there to come back regularly. Bad timing again Latics. We know they can do better, and the players know they can too. They shouldn't put this completely behind them though - they should use it as an example of why you need to be 100% alert and commited, and go out there on Saturday knowing that they can beat anyone if they remain switched on, but can slip up against even the bottom clubs if they don't. We're still in a great position, and there's no reason why we can't be in the play-offs at the end of the campaign as long as PD and GT work on mental stamina and 100% application.
  9. Quite. I was one of those who thought that there should be some transparency regarding HDGS' involvement, as I believe everyone should be aware of any and all relevant information regarding personal interest. However, Harry's posts are informative, intelligent and extremely useful to the current and other situations, and should be welcomed.
  10. I'm not dancing with joy at the outcome of this, but I still think Failsworth was a bad idea. If it really was a case of Failsworth or bust, then of course I'd accept Failsworth, and hope all my fears were unjustified. As it is, I remain sceptical of the projected stability we were ensured would come with moving to that part of the borough. Promises are easy to make - ask OMBC.
  11. That was you, was it? You should be ashamed of yourself. I've never felt so embarrassed as when the Ryanair stewardess said "Oi fatso! I've had to move the guy who was next to you 'cos your elbows keep resting in his prawn cocktail. If you need a seat to yourself, can I suggest the toilet, where you can have the whole cubicle for just a quid extra?" Well at least I had the last laugh. You left your peanuts in the seatback pocket! Bloody fattist!
  12. Why are they backward thinking, just because they have a different view? Maybe they're justified in worrying that fans might not want to travel to Failsworth. Maybe they're justified in worrying that a club 2 miles away are offering Premier and European football for the same price. Maybe they're justified in worrying that self sustainment would mean a much reduced playing budget. Maybe they're justified in worrying that traffic will be horrendous, and the tram won't stop right outside. Maybe they're wrong. Or maybe they're spot on with their predictions. Who knows? They're hardly backward thinking though.
  13. Jesus. It's simple. The People of Oldham will turn up to watch a successful team - that's it. It's been that way for decades. Promotion this year would see a substantial increase in home suport (And a very recognisable upturn in revenue from away support). It's not the stadium - They'd sit on milk crates at Snipe Clough if the fixture was attractive enough. The fact is, it's going to take a lot more than us diehards to convince anyone that the football has changed since the :censored:e we were served up under Penney, and on the occasions that we try to entice them back with reduced admission etc, the fixture is usually boring or our performance is very average (Grimsby performance excepted of course). When Big Joe came back for the last 8(?) games the attendance increased, but by that time the rot had set so far in that the performances were hardly likely to spur people into buying a ST for the following season. Like it or not, promotion is the only way to see attendances improve. Let's hope we manage it before it's to late to save us.
  14. Can't argue with that. Pity Tounkare's finishing isn't as good as the rest of his game (He wouldn't be playing at this level if it was, though).
  15. This. Shepherd the man and ball away Blacky - You'll have been told that a thousand times in the past. Hopefully the lad will learn from this, although he doesn't seem to have learned a great deal about positioning - he was almost on the 18 yard line when he made his run for that tackle.
  16. 5th is great. Should we be delighted that we've improved massively since last season, or disappointed that we could be in an even better position? Points have definitely been dropped on two or three occasions, and usually after tactical substitutions have been made. I'd be a lot happier with our position if I wasn't aware of how many good leads had been lost in the dying minutes. If we make the play offs it will be a huge achievement, but it would all be wasted if we went on to throw it away at the death in a play off final. Lessons need to be learned from games like todays - bad referring decisions or not.
  17. I still maintain Hazell is a liability and a very poor captain. However, I thought he had an excellent game against Brentford and deserves credit for it. Trouble is, his good games are quite often followed by a series of stinkers - consistency isn't one of his stronger qualities. On the captain front, well, he just isn't one, is he? Watch him carefully next match - He's the quietest of all the defence, and doesn't use the opportunity to talk to the team when there is a pause in play for injuries etc. Taggart is forever reminding him to keep his line at the back - that shouldn't happen. I'd love to see him improve and put performances in week in, week out, but there's no sign of that happening at the moment.
  18. They're also keen on vehicles being correctly parked within the confines of each bay, and not 'Illegally' parked in areas designated for disabled or pushchair users, apparently. No problem with that.
  19. Since Exeter discovered our weaker points, it seems everyone wants to exploit them. Soton did it superbly. Black didn't know whether he was marking Lambert or Chamberlain most of the time, as they both attacked him incessantly. I'm not going to defend Black at all, because I don't think he gets tight enough to his man, but he needed some help out there and didn't get it. Saints were outstanding, and created their chances by spreading us the full width of the pitch, allowing the central players to get through the middle of the park and pick up simple knock backs from the lightning fast wingers. I only wish that we would spread teams wider ourselves (Like Rick Holden and Neil Adams used to do) as we have the players (Evina and Morais) to do it, but seem more content with trying to walk the ball through packed midfields. Gone was the quick first time passing from earlier in the season, with Stephens taking far too long on the ball, and gone were the quick one-two's that Kieran Lee interchanged with Furman and Stephens. Contrary to what some have said, I thought Taylor was the only player who gave 100% last night, though Trotman could possibly still hold his head up. Paul Dickov now needs to go through the videos from earlier in the season with the team, and try to rebuild their confidence by reminding them what they are capable of. We should emulate Southamptons style of pressuring teams into losing possession, and attacking fullbacks with quick passing and width - we might not have the quality of players that they have, but it's a style that we are capable of playing, and a proven way of picking up points in this division. That said, you need guys who can find the net - and that seems to be a problem for our current forwards.
  20. A bloke who broke his nose twice in a matter of weeks putting his head in where it hurts for the team. He was commited and determined, but Ronnie Moore's hoofball had him running around the pitch looking lost, as ball after ball flew over his head. Richard has proved himself elsewhere, so it's such a shame that he took the flak here at BP for what was a style of football that just didn't suit his game. As others have said, a thoroughly decent and quiet bloke who never responded to the taunts after a bad game, nor craved the adulation after having a good game - he just headed up the tunnel and got on with things professionally. A sad loss.
  21. LOL. And the result of the match had no bearing on those punches I suppose?
  22. That'll be him. He really does need someone to knock some sense into him (As do all our chav contingent)
  23. After the match there was a chav in a white t-shirt who looked about 16 years old and 8 stone walking up Sheepfoot Lane shouting "Rochdale, Rochdale where's your boys?" before punching a parked car. I so wanted one of the Rochdale 'Boys' to step out and balloon him. If it had been my car he punched, I could have justified lamping him myself, but apparently it's not the done thing when a 40 something bloke sparks a trouble causing teenager - more's the pity.
