  1. Tell me about its quite amazing really am a little jealous what with them all on the booze all day in the sun then going to one of the biggest games in their history tonight while I sit in this office. That said am going to dread getting home tonight as my train goes past the COM. Incidentally does anyonelse thing Neal Eardley and Barry Ferguson have a striking similarity or is it just me.
  2. Wow them were the days I was 10 but do remember this one what a dramatic end to the season and one of the best days of my childhood. In the morning I played football for my junior team we were 4-1 down at half time 2nd half I bag a goal and then the flood gates opened and we won 10-4. Then on to BP Do or die for the boys in blue! Remember all the goals the mexican wave the southampton fans joined in even the sponsors in the executive boxes joined in Le Tiss bags a hat trick which must be up their as the best performance by a player on the losing team against Latics ever. He nearly sent us down on his own. Utter pandomoniam at the end a mass pitch invasion and as someone has said a proper lap of honour. It is the one premiership game I remember most about. I still have the highlights on match of the day somewhere incidentally that season we were the 3rd highest goalscorers in the Premier league and because of that Trevor Brooking said we didn't deserve to go down. Great days.
  3. I will go for Peterborough away if not it will be one of the promoted sides just have an inkling.
  4. It was mentioned in The Sunday Times last week that the increase in revenue from League One going into The Championship in sponsorship and Tv money is about £1million.
  5. A few that seemed to have been missed According to his autobiography Joe Royle was offered the chance to sign David Batty as a youngster but apparently we weren't able to afford it? What if Paul scholes had preffered our youth set up to Uniteds? What if Micah Richards hadn't gone to city? What if Sharp had of signed Sammi Hypia? what if TTA had bought the club instead of Chris Moore back in 2001? What if at the begining of last season we signed Andy Morrell instead of him going to Blackpool? What if we had kept Ronnie Moore as manager back in june 2006 (That old Chestnut) What if we hadn't all gone on the march just last year the stadium development would fall through and TTA would have been looking to sell up? What if Chris Porter and Richie Wellens had stayed this season? There is a few to get your teeth into I'm sure I could think of plenty more.
  6. Causes alot of debate Andy Liddel Of those 3 seasons he has been plagued by injuries except one season last season his most productive season and ours. We have been at our best when he has been at his best. Our best result in those 3 years was at home to Forrest last year he had a hand in all 5 goals so quite simply when he has ticked we have too. Although I would agree with you in the fact that next season I would like to see him used from the bench. I doubt shez will go down the line of jobs for the boys as was shown in his jettisoning of Warne last season would of been the easiest thing in the world to keep the fans favourite he got rid which i think in the end was the right decision.
  7. That should please BigFin seriously one year is about right for a player at this stage in his career
  8. When we play in that new flourecent away kit this season I think we should sing the following\ Team full of stewards weve got a team full of stewards Team full of stewards weve got a team full of stewards as that is what we will look like. As we will get fed up of the lee Hughes is a murder chant I propose after every goal he scores we sing to the tune of go west Lee Hughes is a Goalscorer Lee Hughes is a Goalscorer Lee Hughes is a Goalscorer Lee Hughes is a Goalscorer Also one I stole from Bolton who sing something similar to Gavin McCann to the tune of the Adams family He tackles and he passes for all the lads and Lasses He gets up peoples asses His name is Mark Allot Mark Allot Clap Clap Mark Allot Clap Clap Also a song I hope we are singing from thje begining of April onwards Thats why were going up Thats why were going up Thats why were going up Thats why were going up Right theirs my contribution
  9. Does anyone else think that we won't get fined I mean its not like alot of damage was done was it. Kids let in for half price on the final day of the season who have probably been scoffing e numbers all day they weren't exactly threatening. To compare these school kids with the leeds nuckle draggers who tried to get their very important game abandoned last season is pretty laughable. They were just annnoying in a kiddish kind of way more than they were threatening.
  10. Surpised anyone supports british teams in europe I mean they are British in name alone in terms of their ownership, star players and the majority of their fans they are global brands. maybe in years gone by when football didn't have its hype and you would see atleast 80% of these teams players who had british decent I might want them to win. i had abit of an arguement about this with a liverpool fan back just before the 2005 cl final. I just don't think they are my players or my team or that they are playing for me so im in the CGAF category.
  11. Oh and another thing i learned from living abroad and meeting people from all over the world is that the rest of the world doesn't all hate us either. Yeah some people don't like our overly aggressive drinking culture and thats fair enough but we are also seen as fair tolerant, polite and as having a good sense of humour.
  12. Nice eh Nice thats where I lived had plenty of good nights down old nice even though the beer was a tad expensive in the bars had the best year of my life there loved the place. Perhaps because English culture has had such a large dominating effect on the world (for some wrong reasons but also for some of the right reasons as well) then maybe we don't feel the need to celebrate it maybe we don't have that chip on our shoulders. It would be nice to celebrate it if for nothing else to reclaim the St georges cross and for people to feel comfortable with it rather than being branded a racist.
  13. Having one days holiday isn't going to the french sytem though is it. Having another 18 bank holidays a 35 hour week and lots of bureaucracy is, Ive lived there I know what I'm talking about (turns off pedantic mode). Seriously from my time living in France I appreciated A that Britain is a great place to live and B I'm astounded by people that slag it off so much who live here and people have such a problem with celebrating the fact that they are proud to be English.
  14. Very true and more to the point have we actually had any interest in the lad i haven't heard of anything this season linking him with a move away?
  15. Absolutely agree on the last paragraph what a marvelous asset Tony Philiskirk is to our club. we have lost some very talented youngster to the big boys in recent years and yet look at the likes of Allessandra coming through we are producing some excelent players and thats down to philiskirks hard work.
  16. New Signings I think we have missed a key one A new physio
  17. Here Here as a proud member I would like to welcome you to the happy clappers club Coco. 7 free game you get with a season ticket and be able to jump the que when the inevitable big games come. Can't see why anyone is particularly surprised by the prices I think we all knew they were going to be about the same TTA have a business to run and the new signings will have to be paid for. Me think the old man will want to go in the mainstand so will go with him over to the other side of the pitch will be a good view mind
  18. At the end of the day it all comes down to us I can see why we will need Leeds and Doncaster out the way but our chances will come down to how we do and who we buy. The quote at the bottom of my post comes from Winston Churchill I think its relevent to us I don't buy this we ain't big enough to compete atleast to get out of this divison any sized club can do that aslong as they cut the cloth accordingly. Scunthorpe and Colchester in 2 very recent season have proved that its very possible for a small club to get out of this division we are potentially a bigger club than both those two and would have more staying power in the championship certainly with a better developed stadium.
  19. Think it has been muted as an idea on other threads as to apparently compensate for shez's in experience if we were to bring in an experienced head instead of sheridan i would give it until october before we are branding said experienced manager a dinosaur
  20. Is anyonelse of the opinion that a director of football would be a waste of time I'm sorry I just can't see this being what we should want particularly now that shez has 2 years experience of management under his belt not to forget another 2 years before that of manageing the youth set up. The excuse of inexperience for shez can't really be used next year and to be fair he will have to deliver a stronger promotion push. His signing will have to be shrewd we can't sign anyone with an injury record not after this season and when you think that the likes of Crossley Gregan, Hughes, and Liddel if he is still here will all have to be wrapped in cotton wool next year to an extent as I can't see them all lasting a 50 plus game season without injuries then the player behind them will have to be physically fit too. Not only that but wouldn't a D.O.E somewhat undermine Shez imagine if Royle was to be installed in that role a couple of defeats and you watch the clamour on this message board for Royle to return as manager and the chants of Big fat Joe's blue and white army will return. No sane manager would want that. Throws it open to the floor Opinions?
  21. Smalley has all the quality needed to make it as a pro in time. What I would like to see is him believe that he can be a good footballer I sometimes feel that he just needs to back himself that little bit more and realise what a good player he can be. People didn't like Richie Wellens because they thought he was arrogant the same with Neil Kilkenny I didn't mind that I like to see our players back their own ability. Alot of this will come with age and I think that like BB80 says this season will have done him good as the experience gained will be vital. The crowd of course can help with this and encourage him he will be the type of player that responds positively to it.
  22. Can I just say that poor season ticket sales will not necessarily mean that shez will get the boot. Ronnie got the boot for this but people were not renewing season tickets directly because of him this won't be the case with Shez as the poll pretty much suggests the fans are behind him we couldn't say that about moore.
  23. Damn right I don't care. I was lucky enough to take a trip to carrington the other week absolutely imense facilities which are along way from what Chapel road is like or what we are ever likely to have. I ain't gonna sit their worrying and wining about what other clubs have and have not I worry about where we are going at the moment I can see a future for this club with TTa we are in the right hands.
