  1. If you were around at the time Wozz u will know that if he dont start the season on a roll the fans WONT turn on him...only the young ones who havent a clue will ... I do get fed up of the freaking gloom merchants who are so negative and yet do not come up with plausable reasons why JR shouldnt be successful or who the alternative in his place should be
  2. Godd just the thought of that makes my tummy turn > I really hope that theres enough emails sent to the club to put pressure on the board to ensure we get him to stay ! Keeping Joe is more important than signing new players in the summer - He turns nothings into somethings
  3. OMG it all comes back....Pass me the Keenex I'm fillin up
  4. I agree Wakefield - Get him to contract for 2/3 years... Ive said it a trillybillion times in other posts there is no man with better credentials or with a better affinity to this club than the big man himself. I am sure SC and AH are talking to him already and making plans for next season. Joe Royal - Oldham - Good times to come - I think so!!!
  5. I didnt buy it for vanity? I bought it cos I live in an area where there are few if any latics fans.. The car has latics mats, the transparent crest in the back window plus mini scarves, tax disc holder and I am sad enough to be ordering the cushions for the back seats. If the shop ever starts selling wheel trims with the crest on then they will be going on too. Good to see H10 AFC is on a car though - As I said, I sold all new Peugeots from H10 AFC to H90 AFC at Lookers Huddersfield Road. Good memories working there. Mike Doherty was the Dealer Principal there and an avid Man City fan, he was a good boss allowing me time out to watch almost all the games the season we got promoted. I was involved with a lot of sponsorship at latics, got the use of the VIP car park, players lounge etc, it will be a year that I will never forget I think I missed about 2 games home and away that season
  6. There is no reason at all why JR could not bring us the success we want next season? IF you think the game has changed somewhat since the 80' and 90's then fine, that may well be the case but if you are saying that he hasnt grown with the game then give me some evidence to back up your statement. Of course if we go 6 games without a win there will be people calling for Joes head, Just as there would be at any club. Do you not think JR has been round long enough and has enough savvy to realise that? In the first week at the club he has made changes and I think he will be here next season. He will make many more changes and I have said it in another thread and will say it again - I do not think there is anyone who could do a better job than JR. He knows the people, he knows many of the fans, he knows how the club operates and he knows that the club will give him free reign to sort out the team his way. If JR put the whole team up for sale tommorrow then as far as I am concerned he has reason to do it and as a fan he has my backing. Joe will have a picture in his mind and ideas on what he wants to achieve .... It may not happen overnight but we now live in interesting times.....There are a lot more changes and developments to come thats for sure
  7. Just curious here.... I bought a plate recently for my car which, bearing in mind I didnt pay much for, I am really chuffed with its is OL04HAM Now.....back a good while I was a Sales Exec with Lookers Peugeot on Huddersfield Road and There were a few new motors I needed to shift..Bearing in mind that were in a cup final and one other Semi Final I could not believe my luck when I went to the vehicle tax office and was given by pure fluke a batch of numbers to register new cars with... They were: H10 AFC ( HI 0AFC Just how good does it have to be !!) H20 AFC H30 AFC H40 AFC H50 AFC H60 AFC H70 AFC H80 AFC H90 AFC When I was looking for a plate I naturally checked on the sites to see if H10 AFC was available, hoping by chance the car had been scrapped along with the plate - By someone who didnt realise its possible value. No such luck Im curious to know if anyone knows where these plates ended up or if anyone has car registrations with an Oldham connection
  8. SPAINBOY Spouting old Cliches and quotes from Clough is scraping the bottom of the barrel. If Leeds fans really didn't like them comments then there wouldn't be so many of us looking forward to Damned United. Clough is a laughable joke and he is in the best place right now.....6 foot under. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You have your punts against our club - Its to be expected from a nerd who has stayed silent for so long - only to crawl out from his cess pit when he sees a little daylight. However you show your immaturity and total ignorance when you make such comments about Brian Clough - He contributed a million times more to the game of football than Leeds have done as a whole club in their history. He also won more trophies than any Leeds Manager. While Leeds were boring kicking their way through every game Clough's team's were a joy to watch and the man had more charisma than any Manager I have ever come across. I was a Nuetral at a game once and outside I heard some guy call him a '':censored:'' Clough just smiled and looked right at him and said ''Young man that may be true in your eyes but my team has just put five goals past your goalkeeper'' That not only makes YOU a :censored: but a losing Wankerwhile I. am a winning one'' If anyone is a laughable joke that should be 6 foot under its you Spainboy - You need to grow up big time
  9. If he doesent take us up he should go and keep his reputation intact - Are you mad!!!!!! He could relegate us to the conference and JR would still go down as a ledgend, a demi god!!! Get a grip man Most of us have rationalised that Joe has taken on an inept squad that does not function in any way shape or form to how he wants it to. I have no doubts that even now SC and AH are talking to Joe about next season and anxious to get him to sign a 3 maybe 4 year contract - I am also confident that JR is already planning for the future, what he wants and how he aims to achieve it. I agree with the poster that said in effect if not Joe then who will take us forward. Lets put this to bed and accept that there is NO ONE who would have his heart in the club nor has the credentials to get us out of this division except the big man himself. I personally like many would be absolutley gutted if Joe did not start the season as Manager of Oldham Athletic. I think if he does then stand by for mega changes in the way we play and there will no doubt be many new faces. There is still a glimmer this season of the play offs but I for one would be happy to write this season off if it meant Joe was focussing on the long term future of OAFC and the establishment of a new order
  10. I just couldnt be arsed going on another teams forum, why would I want to? - Oldham is my team and I like to mix my views and comments with those that share the same dreams. Its tossers like Spainboy that really need to get a life - What the fk were you doing here anyhow - All your cocky comments dont mean jack to me. Leeds were a great team years ago but you are nothing special now. Like it or not your mixing it here with us like you were last season and you probably will be doing next season. So, look forward to your games against us next season el pratto and your trip to Spotland. - And when you dont go up your players will be on the phone to their agents crying to get out of their contracts and get other clubs.
  11. No thanks I live Isle of Wight and a North South devide would be useless for me - You live NZ so it don't matter to you If they wanted to do a West/East devide then ok I Would have to travel a fair bit still but at least Id get some near games in
  12. I think all those that have made nasty comments about Jade Goody need to remember - This was an uneducated girl who came from a deprived area and did not have the best of upbringings - She was not clever enough to think before she opened her mouth. Due to that she was bigged up by the press and used as a bit of a media puppet. You can imadgine the scene in an editors office ''Bugga not really enough to fill the paper, John get down and find Jade Goody and see if you can bait her a little or get her pissed, her and that cranky mother of hers are bound to say some bollox that we can fill a few columns with, Oh and dont forget to Jimmy vandal with ya, get him to gob at her nutta boyfriend we might get a few pics of him waving a stick or a golf club, hes snaps if you say anything'' I dont think Jade realised for a second just what a media circus she was stepping into when she went into BB back in 2000. The gutter press found their prey but truth is Jade at the end of the day made her fortune through it and became the most well know BB contestant after Nasty Nick. Just how many BB contestants can you name that have done anything much since with the exception of a builder who had a bit part in a DIY series ? She also through her silly ignorant racist attack put Ms Shipla Shetty in the spotlight - How many of us had heard of her before that ? - I bet Ms Shipla could not be happier at being the brunt of a racist attack from JG Well Jade has done more for smear testing than has probably been ever done before, She has also secured her kids education and made sure they are financially secure. Not bad at all for someone who has passed away before 30th Birthday There are one hell of a lot worse people in this country than Jade Goody - The illiterate girl from the bad side of town did good and if she could read some of these posts I bet shed be putting the finger up, laughing and turning on her heels knowing that whatever she did in her life she certainly made her mark and gave a lot of people a lot to think about RIP Jade - You did good
  13. Hahahahahaha Love it Written by a bloke who thinks that a bunch of guys padded out, wearing motorbike helmets and whoes sole objectives are to run as far as they can or kick a ball between two posts - Jeesh thats entertainment? I remember seeing it once on TV as a kid and when I heard one guy shouting ''grunt grunt 32, 26, 44, 19 grunt grunt 22, 32, 41'' I said 'Dad why is that big bloke ordering a chinese in the middle of a game?'' And Baseball? Oh yeah right so THATS a man's game where the objective is to hit a ball with what can only be described as a long thin bowling pin, then he runs round a diamond shape track as fast as his legs will carry him - Dont we call that rounders? You have to love the 'World Series' - Only the Americans would title a competition with the word 'World' in it - When no bugga outside the USA competes in it ? I wonder what he reads when hes stood on the touchline watching his daughter play soccer ? It cant be ''Americas contribution to world peace'' it dont take long to read an A4 sheet of paper
  14. I tend to think that as a proffessional you should BE proffessional - Its ok to run to your fans and seek recognition for your goal - Its another thing to goad the oppositions fans > What would he have done if fans had run on the pitch and attacked him - We would have faced a fine and censure thats for sure. I trust Ronnie Moore has had the good sense to castigate him and advise him just how stupid he was to do that. Mind you when the said manager does it himself then theres no hope. Fans by their nature goad and intimidate players from the terraces - Thats the nature of the game - Players are expected to be above that. IF Lee Hughes had done similar to the Tranmere fans then I feel sure Joe would have had is ass when he returned to the changing rooms after. It could even be classed as a guesture that was an incitement to riot at its worst extreme. Stupid of him and if he looks at the replay I would hope he would realise what a pratt he was
  15. Harry - Its people like you that make me heave ok I have followed latics all my life. My first game being on the shoulders of my grnadad when I was about three and we won 11-0 against Southport ( not that I recall FA about it) I have lived out in Australia and come home for some games and spent most of my life on the IOW. Thanks to ruddy work its hard to get to games but I get in about 15 games a season on average, most of them away. When we had our glory years in the late 80s/90s it cost me a freaking fortune dragging two kids around the country, with the added expense of two cup runs (Missed two ties in that run Leeds away and Southampton replay at BP) Of course all the lilly livers were out then forming long Q's at BP declaring themselves to be hardened die hard latics fans. People who normally grabbed the bus to Manchester on a Saturday instead - It was murder for me to try and get tickets as we progressed through the cup rounds - Thank god I found some contacts. I did a 565 mile round trip on Saturday and got back home at 4am Sunday owing to the fact I was tired an had to pull over in god knows where for an hours nap. Can't really afford two away games but will be there at Orient. Over the years I have seen the fickle fans I got to know at games drift away and yes Ive heard all the dramatic moans about ''Never watching this :censored: again'' Would I ever consider giving up and going to watch Pompey or Southampton - Never ever in a million years and If the club folded tomorrow Id go follow Oldham Town. Both my girls have been mascot for the club and a grandson will follow in about 5 years (hopfully wearing his mums old red Bovis kit) I have seen us lose at Scarborough 1-2 in the FA cup when we were old Div 3 and they were Northern Premier in the 70s. I've seen us beat Hudderfield 6-0 when we were on our way up from old Div 3. I have cried my guts out when we lost vital games and I have had the wonder of walking Wembly way to see my beloved blues play in a cup final. So like many of here I accept the bad times and hope for better ones. No its not good at the momment > Have you got a magic £20 million you could chuck in the pot Harry? What is your solution ? - Go on get out of here, go take your fickle support and get back to watching the glory boys - I am sure you will be back in the Q for a ticket should we actually get a good cup run or get promoted. I am sure you will be there spouting on about loyalty. Yes I was dissapointed Saturday but I am sure that there will be changes and that things will improve. I stopped at a service station on the M6 on the way up to BP and met a coach load of Torquay fans on their way up to Northwich Victoria buzzing away they were and some old bloke was chatting away - I asked him ' Wasnt it hard to see his team drop into none league football, how did he keep himself motivated enough to keep gioing down to Watch them play'' He said that simply it was his team, his brother was a Plymouth fan but Torquay was his and always will be. Following Oldham is in my blood its passed down and its part of my roots and my life - Dont worry Harry I am sure we will see you again with the other lilly livers when the tide turns and we get a string of results going... No matter what happens the blue flag flies on the Isle of Wight, Australia, Canada, France, Holland and in many other places in the world - and those that fly the flag keep the faith through thick and thin
  16. To be honest I think awful is prob a bit much. We had chances to score and didnt take them. Im pretty impressed with supple as a keeper and hope we keep him. I think the players were doing their damnest to impress and nerves were definatly a factor. I also think Taylor had a good game - The death knell sounds already for the season - Yet there is still 24 points to play for - A result at Cheltenham and against Orient could change things round a great deal. It was a brilliant reception for Joe and I dont know what the gate was the ground seemed to be pretty full - The buzz around the stadium and inside was like the good ol days - Lets hope we can keep it going
  17. Its gone 1am Saturday morning ....I have a ferry at 6am then a 250 miles drive ...I'm too freaking excited to sleep - I'm like a kids waiting up for santa I am gonna scream my tatty lungs out and it may well be that I will be found early hours Sunday morning pulled over on the A34 and comatose in the back of the car ''COME ON OLDHAM'' -- and godddd it brings a tear to my eye to be able to shout once again ''BIG FAT JOES BLUE AND WHITE ARMY''
  18. Oldham 3 Tranmere 0 Hughes 33min 67min Westlake 77 min booked: Hughes 80mins kay 80mins HT: 1-0 Attendance: 9645 Out of Steak and Pepper pies by 50th minute Weather: Sunny with cloud in the 2nd half, cool breeze towards Rochdale Road End Sorry I couldnt be a bit more precise........
  19. All I can say is that upon reaching Oldham I have to dash into a Tescos or somehwre - I have an order for about 40 Hollands pie, 20 steak puddings and about 50 oven bottom muffins ..... I must admit I do miss quality grub !!!
  20. Im quite happy actually - The witer of the post seems to forget that under Joe we have turned the corner and are unbeaten under him
  21. I think what has angered most people is not that they have excersised their democratic right to protest its because: 1. They have come to this country and taken advantage of its health and welfare system. its freedoms and all the benefits living in a free country brings - And then they openly stir up trouble and tension and advocate civil disturbance to further their cause 2. They chose to insult the very people that put their lives at risk by fighting to preserve what they take for granted 3. They would NEVER be allowed to protest in such a manner in an islamic state - Under Shira law they would all at least be rotting in Gaol now or might even have be hung. This was as much an incitement to race riot as would be a group of BNP/NF supporters jeering at an islamic festival/parade. The difference is if it HAD been the BNP/NF then the police would have moved in, broken the group up and mde arrests. I for one am sick of not being able to fly the St Georges flag/ Union jack without being called a racist. I am fed up with my kids not being able to celebrate christian festivals. I am fed up hearing about people coming to this country (who do not seem to be at rosk of harm in their own) they then seem to get every conceivable assistance to gain accomodation, the maximum benefits and all the help they need to settle in. They see our benefits system as an alternative to work, they then protest about everything that is alien to their culture and beliefs and they do nothing to encorage their offspring to mix into the society that they have chosen to come to live in. A woman in an islamic state has just been refused her freedom and must finish her time in gaol in Dubai because she was convicted of adultery, she will be deported upon release and will lose everything including her children - Her husband has even been awarded damages for hurt and distress. I am not a racist and many of my friends are from many different cultures and backgrounds - I know that this group of scum are just a tiny minority and do not represent the majority of their people. Perhaps the answer would be to try these people under the law they would wish imposed on us all. If they wanted to protest they could have just turned their backs on the parade. And if they feel their beliefs are so strong that they need to fight against our beliefs, tradditions and way of life - Why the hell dont they catch a plane and go out their and fight for their cause?
  22. I was living in Adelaide Australia and flew back to see family - I saw we were playing at home on the Saturday against Port Vale, About 1.30pm I dropped partner off shopping and went up to BP all kitted out ready to raoar from my beloved chaddy ...I got there and the ground was pretty sparse and there were few people about ......but then there would be ....the kick off had been changed to 12.00 ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH the only freaking 12 'O'C;ock kick off all season !!!!! So Ryde, Isle of Wight to BP is really a short hop and unless they change the KO time again I will there
  23. I will keep checking in -- Tel 07919427024 or 01983 618562 if you need that lift
