  1. I'd happily see MKMongs go out of business tomorrow Leeslover. Their very existence goes against the grain! As for Pompey/Cardiff/Southend/Palace/Chester/Notts County, I genuinely feel sorry for their fans for various reasons, sadly I can see at least 2 of those clubs going to the wall. Especially as HMRC have got their sights set on getting their taxes back. However, Chester City is a different entity altogether, their fans actually WANT the club to fold for the way in which the current owners have run it into the ground to try and get their own money back - not to dissimilar to the situation at Wrexham. Chester fans' are boycotting home games and effectively forcing the hand of the current owners whilst also plotting for the clubs return as a new side. Ultimately, the money at the very top of the game is starting to kill it off for the rest of us. Little sums filter down the pyramid and far to many chairmen are happy to pay grotesque wages (John Utaka, Portsmouth, £80,000 a week!) when they are worth about a tenth of that sum! Another example is Schmichael at Notts County, where he is supposedly earning somewhere between £10k & £15k a week!
  2. Hell yes! A club that was stable in the Championship, playing in front of bigger league crowds and enjoying cup runs in the League & FA Cup. Winning either would also open up an invite to the Europa League, which would bring more revenue into the club. As for wanting to see Latics back in the Greed Is Good League we were out of our depth back in 1993/4, we are still suffering now and I'd hate to see us go through that again.
  3. In all honesty Underdog, I feel Latics should have an aim to reach and stabilize in the Championship (albeit not under Penney). I also feel we should then concentrate on cup runs to (A) bring funds in to the club and ( hopefully reach a final and possibly win a trophy or even get into Europe via the back door. It amazes me that other clubs don't think along these lines as it generates revenue, brings a feelgood factor to the club and town/city and can also be a stepping stone for improving to bigger & better things. I genuinely believe TTA had this type of ambition for the club when they took over, sadly we have failed to realise this on the field which is why we are where are today!
  4. Maybe they'll decide to pack up, move on and bastardize some other side now Ste? Maybe they'll become Chester Dons? Pompey Dons? Cardiff Dons? Or the biggest insult of all, Crystal Dons Palace and take over at Selhurst Park? Aside from our result yesterday, THIS score gave me such huge delight as I utterly detest Mk and their very existence is insulting, obnoxious, disgusting and degrading to ALL football fans' and I also hate their manager Mr Paul 'Play The Race Card' Ince.
  5. Its a decent idea in theory, and if enough people were on board it could actually generate a sizeable fund. However, not wanting to urinate on your parade I would be sceptical for the following reasons: 1. Latics used to run a lottery called "Starline" that was supposed to fund the weekly prize and the other half going towards buying a player. After the initial pomp n circumstance launching the fund nobody ever heard of a player being signed through it. No doubt this money eventually went to service some other debt. It would need to be fully accountable and as the majority of deals at the club are "not disclosed" I'd be very wary of this money actually being used for the purpose it was intended. 2. The ill-fated 'scoreboard' fund that the club were constantly asking fans for money to raise funds to buy a new/secondhand/reconditioned scoreboard, and I know of a number of fund raisers to generate money. Where the hell is THAT money? Because it should still be sat in some account in theory, and seeing as we don't appear to be getting a scoreboard anytime this decade, maybe we could find this cash and pay Prices' wages for the remainder of the season? Like I said at the start, its a decent idea and maybe something the Trust/Club could look into for fans to possibly invest into a transfer fund on a regular basis. A bit similar to the Wildlife/Pet/Disaster appeals where they ask for a regular donation of a couple of quid a month. Assume we have 3000 ST holders, and half of them signed up and contributed say £1 a week (£4 a month) it would generate £6,000 a month. This money could be invested in a high interest account and each month it grows by £6k and produces £72k per year before any interest (less say £5k per year for admin costs in running the fund and managing everything). It might take a couple of years to develop a decent sized fund but managed correctly the fans' would see their money being used to buy players. By way of recognition from the club Fund members could be given a separate discount on their tickets and other incentives (EG 10% off at the Club Shop all year round).
  6. Who are 'Oldham Athletic 2002 Ltd'? Are they any good? The club was reformed in 2004!
  7. Crowds would be the same (Maybe higher due to more local teams). Doubt it...the ones likely to bring a decent following (Bury & Rochdale) are looking odds on for going up in our place! Playing standard would be the same. As this season, maybe, but that is thanks to Penney's rejects and the abject style of football he has brought to the club! No huge drop in income. Course it would...I know of a number of people who would be happy to stop buying a season ticket in favour of picking games next season, regardless of the division we are in. We're never gonna be a Championship team either way. B*ll*x! We are NEVER going to be a Premier League team, fair enough, but we should have strived to get to the Championship and then target a good cup run each season with the outside chance of reaching the final of either the FA or League Cups and possibly even playing in the Europa League! Maybe a pipe dream but I'd rather have that then possibly watching us implode as we appear to be doing now! Might have a chance of competing nearer the top of a league for 2 seasons. Yeah whatever. We all thought that way 13/14 years ago when we were relegated into this division! See some new stadiums rather than ANOTHER year in division 3. AMAZING!!! Theres probably as many NEW stadiums in the Championship nowadays that we've probably not been to and I'd rather see them than go to the likes of Barnet or Morecambe! Obviously its not good, but nowadays would it make any difference???
  8. I've just text a couple of people who may know if this is true or not (1 a journalist and 1 a member of staff at Latics). If I hear anything back tonight I'll post it on here.
  9. Not sure why Dave TBH, for some reason I wasn't comfy with his appointment and didn't think he was the right man for the job. I did mention my feelings to a few mates who I go to the game with, and I had hoped I'd be proved wrong and he would convince me otherwise. Sadly I've not seen anything to change my mind! Overall, I think we were wrong to sack Shez last year. For me the poison that was Windass is where the wheels started coming off our season. From the moment we signed him, everything started going downhill!
  10. WTF! They're grown men who are allegedly playing a game they are supposed to love & enjoy. What the hell do they need protecting from? And few thousand people being pissed off at their crap performances week in week out. Take today, the penalty incident took place, and yet Penney The Prat stood their on the touchline, unfazed and unarsed with his arms folded (or in his pockets). Any other manager would have been demanding answers and berating the 4th official. He even motioned to the team to stay calm. I'd rather see him lose his temper and get the team fired up to try and drive them on! I also heard his post match interview....I'd love to know what game he was watching and if thats the benchmark he can shove my Season Ticket up his backside! It was bloody awful!
  11. No Joe, the role of Director of Football is some pussified role that has been created by egotistical chairmen in the last 10-15 years. Invariably it translates as some middle management role that is utterly pointless and disruptive. And I bet no-one could name 1 successful holder of such a position? In addition to that, Ritchie was offered and turned down such a position under the Ba5tard Regime of Chris M**re. And why would an ailing 3rd division side wish to create an unnecessary job role in the first place? Total non starter for me. Ritchie back as manager maybe, but in this position no thanks! Not needed!
  12. My votes were from my head and not my heart. Hence why I reckon Penney The Prat will still be here at the end of the season, sadly. But I do think TTA will still be here. I reckon we will be relegated but we won't end up in the Conference, unless PTP remains in charge. However, The Championship is a non-starter even if we stayed up this season! And for the record, I've NEVER supported Penney as our manager, right from Day 1.
  13. Eloquent rant Shefflatic....And yes we won't be in the Premier League in a years time, sadly we won't be in this league either. This clown is taking us down! Hence why people are voicing their displeasure in addition to the shyte football / crap tactics served up by Penney The Prat. And for the record, I won't shut up and put up with this crap, after this season I will be walking away along with many others. I'm sick of paying my money to watch us get WORSE, year-on-year. I know of a load of fans' who feel exactly the same!
  14. If the rumours are to be believed, Hughes is off this month due to the fact he hasn't been paid and the dodgy dealings that have taken place at Meadow Lane!!! LOL
  15. Irrespective of injuries, he has brought loanees into the club and his playing style has still been shyte. Half a season and the fans' have voted with their feet and via the internet regarding what they think of this prat. Personally I have never taken to Penney or his appointment. However 3 years of him in charge will see me save 2 seasons' worth of Season Ticket money cos after this year I won't be renewing. This guys more of a prat than the Moore/Breckin partnership the other season!
  16. Definitely. The guy is clueless, naive and gets excited if we manage to achieve a DRAW. As for the stupid suggestion of Martin Allen, I'd personally SHOOT him if ever that vvanker was appointed. He's a racist, obnoxious, self opinionated prat who actually despises Oldham Athletic and its fans' if you recall from his time as manager of Brentford...and the racist allegation reared its head again when he was in charge at Cheltenham!
  17. Sorry mate, I had supped a fair bit yesterday and read your post in a different light to what it was intended! I tend to get a bit of stick for living in these parts and being a Latics fan. Having read it again I now realise it was sarcastic!
  18. No, I was born and lived in Oldham for 20+ years. Just 'cos I'm not part of the OWTB clique doesn't mean I can't have an opinion!!!!
  19. Where to start! They are THE most arrogant fans' around, even moreso than the ones at Glazer Land Park or the splinter group who formed FCUM! Its their point of view or nothing. The way they banged on and on about Justice for the 96 Liverpool fans who died at Hillsborough, yet you never hear a single word about Heysel and the 39 Italians who died that day. You'd think Liverpool were the only club to have ever had a tragedy! Irrespective of the rights and wrongs of BOTH tragedies, their fans' actions have resulted in (A) English clubs banned from Europe for 5 years and ( All seater stadium (and inflated entry prices) at the majority of English grounds. Also, the way they made a huge deal about freeing the 'innocent' Michael Shields and getting Justice for Michael, yet have not made a single message about getting the 'guilty' person to own up. Effectively getting Justice for the Bulgarian barman! All Liverpool fans are hypocritical 'see you next tuesday' IMO. I hope they NEVER win the League again, and whilst the Fat Spanish Waiter is in charge it will always be the case!
  20. I take it you are a WUM? Hughes for Oldham..NEVER! Glad the curly haired welsh **** got sacked! NEVER forgive him for scoring THAT goal in 94. Sad team lost a crap boss. Shame they suited each other! City, regardless of money spent, will always be laughing stock!
  21. So the red carpet treatment that Corney promised to roll out to the 2 Yanks was actually a 'No Entry' sign! Quality, we have fooked up a PR exercise....but we did get 3 points!
  22. I have to say that from the moment his appointment was announced, I have not been impressed with the current incumbent of the hotseat at BP! Not sure of a precise reason why, but I just can't take to the guy and week on week, I become more convinced that my original instinct is correct. The fact this idiot has said this publicy on the official site is sheer stupidity. We should be going out to WIN every single game we play, but it seems that Penney The Prat would be ecstatic with a point and not to upset if we lost....at home....to Exeter City! And for that reason alone any lingering doubts as to his capabilities (win/lose or draw today notwithstanding), I think TTA should look to remove him as soon as possible.
  23. I was grateful for their rescue act, after M**res and his scumbag sister tried destroying Latics by selling off all the team at a fraction of their true value. However, we now find ourselves in a 3-sided ground with a team of journeymen who really couldn't give a damn about Latics just so long as they get paid (few exceptions being the likes of Gregan/Taylor). We have a manager who trots out the same pre & post match reports, and doesn't seem capable of trying anything new/different, to try and get the side scoring and appears happy to just watch proceedings unfold! TTA have gone VERY VERY quiet recently, which could be an indication of an exit strategy being planned? As for them being skint, they could well be after the Global Credit Crunch. Or they could be choosing NOT to invest more money at the moment! Big difference.
