  1. Following on from the excellent post above, IF the club goes into administration the same thing would happen with our season tickets as happened last time. IF the club was liquidated we (season ticket holders) would effectively become a creditor as we have paid for services which have not been delivered (ie the games the liquidated club are not playing) - However we would be at the very bottom of a very long list and likely to get sweet FA back. Especially as most agreements end up being a small percentage in the £ (eg 10p for each £1 owed). This would amount to about £3 each on a season ticket less the games already seen & cost of administrating refunds probably be less than a quid! 6.GREEGAN INVITED TO DO HALF TIME DRAW TOMOZ BUT IT WAS ALL KEPT HUSH HUSH FROM DICKOV WHO IS NOT VERY HAPPY.. - I suspect Dickov's thicker skinned than that. In addition to opinions4u's response I'd also add to this that Dickov spent time in a Spanish jail falsely charged with Rape whilst he was a Leicester City player. This horrendous experience alone would have such a major effect on your outlook on life and people in general that a clash of personalities between Dickov & Greegan (if they even exist) would be tantamount to him being unhappy that Gregan pulls a couple of tickets out of a wooden box! I did hear Gregan was SUPPOSED to be doing the H/T draw yesterday, but given the fact that Fleetwood got beaten in the first leg of the play offs, chances are his club had more pressing matters than to allow him time to return to his old club!
  2. Valentines Day! Every single year it reminds me of THAT night when we battered West Ham 6-0 in the 1st Leg of the League Cup semi-final! Snow - Reminds me of our fantastic plastic pitch that we had and the little tractor that would be used to clear the surface prior to the game starting! Black & White inflattable dogs - Yard Dogs!
  3. RIP Seve. The world has lost 3 sporting icons in a very short space of time, with Henry Cooper & 'Whispering' Ted Lowe also passing away in recent weeks! All 3 were legends of their generations in the field of sport and beyond! Would imagine it to be a very interesting and entertaining time to have a few beers and a chat with these fellas! Our Ernie can do just that!
  4. I reckon we will get the current staunch Latics fans coming along for the final game of the season, however if the weather remains nice chances are a few more may put an appearance in with it being the last game. As for the Mongs, I can't see more than 200 coming up. As such, I am predicting 3,485. As for the play offs, I don't give a damn so long as the Mongs get dicked in both legs and stay in this division!
  5. Impressive! Like the ideas re the away end and also the train links...fans wait at the ground and know when the next train is leaving = more time to spend money at the ground AFTER the match!
  6. When the club appointed Dave Penney, my immediate reaction was one of regret. I personally felt he was the wrong man for the job, however I was happy to be proven wrong as the season developed. Sadly my initial impression was never changed and the style/standard of football, plus the interviews I heard from Penney directly & read on the OS did nothing to change my opinion. 1 stand out comment from Penney was prior to Xmas 09 when we were due to play Exeter in a 6-point game (where we had previously won 2, drawn 4 and lost 4 at home that season). Penney's comments were that the game was "Not a must-win fixture". For me that was the final straw with the prat as it signalled that he wasn't to concerned if we failed to beat a side around us near the bottom of the league. The reason I mention this, is due to my gut-feeling when Dickov was appointed. I immediately felt it was a good move and I've seen nothing to change this opinion. This includes Dickov's reactions in the Media. His body language during games shows he is wanting to be involved in every kick of the ball. Generally speaking we have played some decent football during the season and bar the games v Peterborough (H&A); Bournemouth (A); Hartlepool (A) and Southampton (H) we've hardly been hammered by anyone, especially during the recent poor run of form/results which saw our play off bid become a relegation battle. Dickov's in his first season and has openly admitted he has made mistakes, however he has also openly admitted that both he & the players will learn from these mistakes, which will only make them better players/managers for the next time. And EVERY club the World over goes through bad spells. In general, our approach play has been OK its our finishing in the final 3rd that has let us down so badly. The irony being that it happened after one of our finest home performances for a long time after we ripped Hartlepool apart in the 4-0 demolition at the start of February. If the Press are to be believed, Richards is being sought after once again and maybe Arsenal maybe tempted to bid big for him as they have often been linked with him in the past. If this comes off, we would get a sizeable sell-on bonus. Add that to the Stephens money, and the club can pay off some debts AND support Dickov in the transfer/loan market. Personally, I feel sacking Dickov is a complete non-starter as and he needs our total support once again next season. One of the most ironic scenarios this season is the fact that Shez has managed to win promotion with Chesterfield with a large percentage of ex-Latics players/staff. Sadly I feel Shez's problems started the moment we signed the atom bomb that was Windass and I often wonder what might have been had that never happened!
  7. I shall be celebrating St Georges Day as I do every year! Must admit I am in a small minority of NOT wanting it to become an 'Official Bank Holiday' as I enjoy taking the day off work to celebrate. I feel it adds to the occasion because people out celebrating it are doing so off there own backs, not just because its a Bank Holiday! And its NOT racist to celebrate your National Patron Saint, millions do it the World over, yet only in ENGLAND do we have a certain brand of people who decide to deem all supporters of this day as racists! Surely if this is the case then the Irish, Socts & Welsh are equally racist for celebrating St Patricks, Andrews & Davids day!
  8. There MUST be a school or college in the Oldham area that has BOTH of these items that could be loaned out to the club, maybe in return for a supply of tickets to be handed out to the pupils/students so they can attend one of the remaining games at BP? Emailed Mr H with my suggestions, will keep you informed of any response!
  9. They scrapped the first discount period due to the VAT rise that came in from 1 Jan this year. VAT went up to 20% from 17.5% which had not been incorporated into last years season ticket figures.
  10. Macca, I can't see this being allowed to be honest. For example, Exeter is the type of side that would be classified as a Cat C game (Colchester/Brighton/Bournemouth would also fall into this bracket) - Now if the clubs are categorized at the start of the season, which they no doubt will be, were due to play one of these at say Easter time, or last game of the season and they are top of the league and flying they may bring an unusually large following up with them. It would be unfair on Latics fans by recategorizing the game to charge more just because more away fans are coming. No doubt Latics have an expectation of how many fans are due to come from each team and budget accordingly. But a larger following than expected for Cat C would still bring more money in at £15 a ticket than we had anticipated.
  11. For me, I find Tounkara a very frustrating player. He can run through brick walls....trouble is he then trips over a daisy once he is on the other side! His shooting abilities are abysmal for such a big lad. Kind of makes Geoff Thomas's abysymal miss for England v France almost like a decent effort! As for M'voto, I've been impressed with him. Think he can definitely do a decent job in the Championship and he has the attributes to cause problems in the opposition penalty box as well. Doubt either would make the Premier League TBH!
  12. My personal opinion of how I think/hope the remainder of the season will pan out is as follows: H Tranmere DRAW (47pts) A Notts County LOSE (47pts) H Charlton DRAW (48pts) A Yeovil Town DRAW (49pts) A Exeter City LOSE (49pts) H Walsall WIN (52pts) A Swindon Town DRAW (53pts) H MK Dons WIN (56pts)
  13. 1919 - Although they have never actually 'won' promotion. They finished 5th in Division 2 when the League was suspended at the start of World War 1. When the League's resumed, Arsenal's chairman allegedly bribed the league to allow them into the top flight at the expense of the other clubs who had finished above them, including Spurs! Rumour has it that their chairman bribed, coerced or unduly influenced the voting members of the Football League, including the League Chairman!
  14. Yes, because it is THAT EASY! FFS! Dickov is working with what players he has at his disposal and up until the second week in February that was absolutely fine. Following on from the £2 game, our season has gone Pete Tonge and no-one from the fans, to the players/management can seem to put their finger on it! I just wonder if Fernando Torres happened to make a detour via Latics on his way from Liverpool to Chelsea, and in doing so deposited a considerable dose of his doom n gloom on our doorstep!
  15. All complete bollocks! IF we tried to play the system and attempt to navigate around the administration penalty clause, you'll find the FA will clobber us with a much stiffer penalty than a 10-point deduction. Plus it will be the second time in 10 years we have entered admin. The League could order a full audit of the clubs accounts and ascertain if it was a ploy by the club as part of their investigations. The actual penalty could be anything from 11 point+ deduction to guaranteed relegation of however many divisions they see fit for the crime committed! Dundee also enterred admin for a second time this season and had either a 20 or 25 point deduction imposed!
  16. What a complete tw@ and utter to$$er he is! Add to that that he can't spell privilege and 'top the swap' should be 'to the swap'....If he loves the countryside so much he should take his word counting skills and sit in a field - ideally one used by the Army for live firing exercises!
  17. Well seeing that the ground holds a maximum of 10,638 and we have an average attendance of 4497, this leaves 6,141 empty seats. The word VAST means "great in size, amount, degree, intensity, or especially in extent or range" - As such, the range of empty seats to occupied seats is VAST!
  18. Tell that to the vast number of armchair blues we appear to have nowadays. The vast banks of blue/white seats in the 3 sides of BP tell their own sorry story!
  19. ONE SIMON CORNEY! ONLY ONE SIMON CORNEY! ONE SIMON CORNEY!
  20. How about we bulldoze/pull down/blow up Oldham council buildings. Clear the remnants and level it off. Build a brand new ground for Latics on the land left behind, with all of the Council minutes rejecting everything we have ever asked for being buried under the new Centre Circle! Take over the car park at the side and hey presto new ground, town location, parking alongside and a new Metro link coming to Oldham as well. Radical but as the Tories are shutting everything down and laying off all staff the current building will become an empty landmark and it would be poetic justice if we took it over and redeveloped it!
  21. Oldham Council clearly don't want Latics or the Rugby club to be situated in the Borough. As such, why the hell do we (as Oldham fans) really give a stuff about the club being in Oldham? Personally, I would much rather Latics survived and have a 'Manchester' or 'A.N.Other' postcode, than die on its arse with an Oldham postcode! End of the day its the team & club that matters not where the post office deliver our mail to. If it is that important to fans we could have the club set up without an address as such and just have a PO Box in Oldham! In view of the apparent behaviour and handling of the spineless councils involvement in this matter, I hope Corney tells 'em to stick it. Take the club elsewhere and let us thrive from our new green shoots. One idea IF we CAN stay at BP may be to explore rotating the ground through 90 degrees. Have the entrance that side and build 2 ends where we currently have the George Hill Main Stand and the vacant stand area now. Extend the Rocky Road end and have the (new) pitch closer to that side of the stand.
  22. I don't think Seachel is a rugby fan TBH. I think he is a huge wind up merchant who went around antagonising a hell of a lot of people back in the old Latics Forum days. His user name is actually an anagram of Chelsea.
  23. How about having a bit of a canvassing promotion whereby reps of the scheme could visit pubs near the ground (Clayton Green / White Hart etc) and see if people are interested. Explain scheme in more detail and provide leaflets for signing up. Also they could set up in the ground to promote it to those fans who just go into the ground. (Mental note to self to sign up!!!) Rather than collection buckets, PlayerShare fund raising events/nights could be a better idea. That way it can be promoted and made available to a wider audience and possibly raise money from Non-Latics supporters within the Oldham area.
