  1. My words were put in BIG font to emphasise a point, the fact you then decide to make it personal and state I need special attention just shows that you are unable to debate a point and have to descend to slating the opposition. It also makes me appreciate why I try to avoid the majority of forums nowadays. However, your whole argument as I see it is as follows: 1. Crossley made 2 saves that any keeper would be expected to save. 2. By proxy, the fact he DID make these saves means that the fans expectations have fallen because you decided they are "bread and butter saves" and the fans deem them as match-saving. 3. Crossley palmed a ball over the crossbar rather than catch it, because, you allege he misjudged it and then got lucky. 4. His kicking was "very, very poor" and therefore is a liability who has cost us 10 points this season and Shez is also in the wrong for failing to replace him. 5. Your ultimate point is that Crossley must be got rid of. In response: 1. Impossible to prove, unless you recreate the exact situation with each keeper to see if they would have also saved those shots, in those conditions. FACT: Crossley was in the right place to save them and he DID make the saves. 2. EVERY Keeper/Footballer in the world has made a hash of "Bread and Butter" moments. FACT: Because Crossley made the saves, they PROVED to be match saving. Also, why start having a pop at the Supporters because of their reactions to the saves? Football is an emotive game unless you are a sad git who sits in silence through 90 minutes before going home to read match reports before deciding whether or not you enjoyed the game!!! 3. FACT: The icy conditions added to Crossleys experience will have resulted in his decision to parry/palm the ball away rather than catch it. For Christs sake you would be here until Doomsday if you analysed every individual's actions & reactions from just the first half of a match if you wanted to be so ultra critical. 4. FACT: Yes his kicking was poor, however he corrected this during the game. Your argument for him being a liability and costing us 10 points has been completely destroyed by another post. Not even wasting my tme getting involved in an argument with you about Shez. 5. FACT: Crossley was brought to the club primarily as a Goalkeeping coach and as back up to Pogs. Circumstances have dictated otherwise, and after a shaky start I feel he has settled in and we are starting to see the best of him with more to come. His experience is priceless and a very rare commodity in this league, we would be a poorer team/side/club without it. Without being personal, you seem to be either someone whose glass is always half empty, or failing that you are a wind-up merchant. I trust I have stated the case for Mr Crossley.
  2. FINAL SCORE: Oldham Athletic 1 Doncaster Rovers 1 FFS, The guy SAVED 2 goal bound shots which if he hadn't done this, DONCASTER would have f*cking scored!!!! Meaning we would have lost. THEREFORE, BY SHEER DEFINITION THEY WERE MATCH WINNING SAVES!
  3. Personally, I think the drum is having a NEGATIVE effect on the atmosphere as it drowns out a lot of songs, goes on for far too long and the majority of the time it is the same beat, which is usually faster than the actual songs. Therefore no-one can actually join in as their voices aren't heard due to the 'BOOM, BOOM, BOOM' of the drum. As for various comments I've read on here about the singers in the bottom of the Chaddy not joining in when other sections start songs is complete and utter crap. We do join in, but sometimes we've exhausted our own voices when others haven't joined in and need a short break when the back of the Chaddy start up.
  4. Beardy, can you stick me down (provisionally) for 3 seats. I'll confirm them in a day or two. Cheers mate
  5. Glad to see me vented spleen has seen a correction of the facts. I just felt so incensed at the inaccuracy last night on top of everything else thats going on at the moment I decided to put my own two'penneth in.
  6. Its a very amateurish attempt by the journalist at making a name for themselves. I have also taken it upon myself to lodge a complaint about the article with the BBC as I feel this is unwarranted and had anyone else scored the 2 goals Hughes got today, they would have reported the facts correctly. Here's a copy of my email to them: RE: The match report between Bournemouth and Oldham Athletic, and a despicable piece of sensationalist journalism!! The report in question reads as follows: "Bournemouth 0-3 Oldham Lee Hughes scored his first goals for Oldham as his side triumphed to condemn Bournemouth to their seventh home defeat of the season. Hughes struck when he curled the ball home left-footed from 25 yards. The striker turned provider when he crossed for midfielder Chris Taylor to nod in from five yards. Hughes grabbed a second with a late penalty after Cherries defender Alex Pearce brought down Taylor before the visitors were booed off at the end." Having read this short report, I feel the journalist who compiled it has latched onto the fact Lee Hughes scored his first goals for Oldham Athletic. Given the furore that surrounded his return to football after serving his prison sentence, it appears the journalist decided to make a name for him/herself at Lee's expense. Basically, this is shoddy and amateurish journalism. The person who wrote this article must have no comprehension of football whatsoever. Bournemouth had just lost their 7th home game of the season, and under NO circumstances whatsoever would their fans be booing Oldham Athletic from the field of play. It would be closer to the truth if their fans booed their own team off the pitch having seen them lose, and I feel had any other Oldham player scored, rather than Lee Hughes, then this would have been reported correctly. Please take these comments on board and ensure the matter is brought to the attention of the author, in order to prevent a similar situation from happening in the future. Regards D Cornick

    Reuben Hazell

I've just cast my vote and then seen the results to date. I am the 65th person to have cast my opinion on Mr Hazell and I was genuinely shocked to see it as 100% in favour. There's usually someone who goes against the grain, if only to be noticed!!! That said, I think its conclusive the fans want him signed up. Just so long as he doesn't turn into a donkey once the ink dries on the dotted line.
  8. Just thrown my own complaint in with regard to this issue. The following being a copy of what I have sent: Hi, As a BBC licence holder, I would like to lodge an official complaint with regard to the fact BBC Manchester no longer intend giving radio coverage to the football clubs OUTSIDE of the Premier League. I understand they have cited the costs involved in covering these games as the reason for their decision. However, in this day and age of wall-to-wall coverage by Sky & Satanta of the Premier League clubs I feel this decision is despicable in terms of the other lower league clubs within the Manchester area. We already suffer through a lack of exposure due to Sky and the round-ups received through the BBC are part of the traditional Saturday afternoon for fans at the game and those who can't attend. I would also like to ask, should Man City, Bolton and Wigan (As you don't hold any rights to Man Utd's games, which belong exclusively to XFM) find themselves relegated to the Championship and beyond, does this mean that the BBC wouldn't have any football coverage? Or would you manage to find some money to cover your beloved Man City in the lower footballing echelons? I hope this complaint receives a fair hearing and that someone in authority can see sense and reverse the decision NOT to cover the lower leagues. Regards Darryl Cornick
  9. Its a very poor show that apart from Latics World there is basically no radio coverage of Latics on any radio station. That said, Tower FM, who used to broadcast all of Bolton's games plus updates on Bury no longer cover games so its not just us this radio ban is affecting. Century FM used to cover M*n U*d fixtures but this is on XFM nowadays, and its only the game they cover. No build up, no previews or round ups / phone-ins. Which is a poor show really as it always makes me laugh when sad red barstewards ring up whenever they lose the toss or don't get a penalty and demand ferguson be sacked as a result of such a travesty of justice!!!
  10. I felt Davies had a fairly decent game up to the point when he was clipped after beating his man early in the 2nd half. After that point he lost his head and talked himself into a booking several minutes later by continuing to whinge to the ref about the incident. He also seemed hell bent on taking his own revenge due to The Leeds United Ref being true to form and giving us nowt. A few of my mates were screaming for him to be subbed to avoid what was looking like an inevitable sending off. Personally, I was glad Shez didn't take him off, as it would have been his own stupidity that got him sent off and in my opinion I think he will have learned a lot from trying to control his temper - Shez can have a word in private after the match. As for Ricketts, I refuse to get drawn into the 'He's crap he is' debate as it pisses me off each and every season that the same old Boo Boys @ BP have this mentality that someone has to be crucified because, and I quote "he [insert Players Name/Season] doesn't look interested". I'm not a massive fan of Ricketts, but destroying what little confidence he does have is completely and utterly pointless IMO. This has happened year on year for far too many seasons now, and probably contributes to why we struggle so much in games nowadays. One theory as to why Shez may have kept Ricketts on instead of Wolfenden could be down to experience. Ricketts would be used to such a hard game where the defence give little/nothing away, whereas Wolfy has played a handful of first team games to date.
  11. As the saying goes, you can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs! And whats the betting that more than one of the moaning, whinging neighbours actually move INTO one of the new houses once its been built, and no doubt they will use the new amenities at the ground once they are built and start being utilised accordingly!!!
  12. After spending several seasons attending just a handful of games, my first full season watching Latics was 1986/87 and I have been through every single emotion in the last 21 seasons. I've seen a lot worse than what we have witnessed in the last 2 home games, most notably the ENTIRE reign of Graeme Sharp, the Warnock Dross and the Ronnie Boore-fest. And as for the opening comment that Fulham have done the best of all the sides from 10 years ago, as much as it sticks in my throat to say it, I'd have to say Wigan have done better. To reach and survive in the Premier after only entering the league in the late 70's is fantastic....That said, the sooner Plastics get relegated the better!
  13. The difference being we know we can play football under Shez and he will need to get this going if we are to get off the bottom. As for Boore, that was his entire management style and he knows no different.
  14. I was pleased with Hughes's appearance on the pitch and you could see he had played at a higher level as his little touches and layoffs weren't being picked up by those around him. I only have 1 issue.....And that is Oldham fans chanting "Hughesey, Hughesey" personally, those words stick in my throat after 1994 and I could NEVER sing them for Mark Hughes was here and I cannot do it now Lee Hughes is here.
  15. Tommy, WTF you doing watching the Jocks? Absolutely gutted they won...TWICE this weekend/midweek. All of a sudden they think they're World Class, simply because they have beaten a vastly over rated French side. As for whoever suggested the 'EASY, EASY' chant. The fact this was sung when (a) we pulled a goal back to equalise or (b.) went 1 goal in front made the song sound stupid & 100% irrelevant. The chant should only have ever been used if a team was being battered (EG NYD when we beat Forest 5-0). However, I personally prefer the more offensive version of "THIS IS SO F***ING EASY, OH THIS IS SO F***ING EASY!" or "YOUR SO S**T ITS UNBELIEVABLE" or "ARE YOU CITY, ARE YOU CITY, ARE YOU CITY IN DISGUISE? ARE YOU CITY IN DISGUISE?" Glad the Easy chant has died off this year and hope it never returns.
  16. ***BUMPED*** In view of the Thread on Mouldy Old Dough/Fanfare To The Common Man, I just thought I'd bump this Thread as it runs along a similar theme. If MOD or FTTCM aren't considered then I would like to vote again for the Grand March - Plenty of Pomp & Circumstance!
  17. Thats half the problem, Horlicks, as soon as any chant starts up he starts banging his drum (and usually out of sync/rhythm/speed) and then the chant tails away as people can't be mithered!
  18. I wouldn't mind getting both Mouldy Old Dough & Fanfare to the Common Man on my phone. Think both are quality tunes synonymous with Latics!
  19. Lets hope so .... I was thoroughly depressed after that first half.
  20. A few players I'd include in the list of overrated players, some of whom have already been mentioned: Nicky Banger Paul Moulden Ian Olney Ian Ormondroyd - BOTH TIMES Andy Goram - His 2nd Debut Mike Milligan - When he returned. Chris Killen Chris Day Terrible Forbes Chris Machin - Believed his own ego when he went to Marseille. Sean Garnett Rob Lee (All 62 minutes of his 2 appearances - First & Last) Paul Kane (Paul) Beavers Michael Clegg
  21. Kalala was injured in a challenge hence why he was subbed. As for that great lumbering pillock that we brought down the M62, for someone with such experience, he has now gifted 2 goals in 2 games by way of the penalty spot. It would appear he is fast becoming a liability and we are shipping goals for fun with him in the centre of our defence. Also, prior to tonight, Accrington had scored 1 goal all season (on the opening day). 45 minutes against the Patron Saints Of Lost Causes and they double their tally!
  22. FFS, 1 heavy defeat to a team that will be hard to beat at their own ground this season, and your calling for Shez's head! Get off his back and support the team, its a minor setback (forget the Burnley result) and we have lost 3 league games in a row, 2 of those by the narrowest of margins before today. From the snippets I heard we were outclassed & outplayed by Hartlepool.
  23. Back to the actual topic itself, I can't believe people still waste their time listening to this patronising, self-centered, arrogant, uneducated bunch of idiots. I personally gave up on TalkSport about 3 years ago. Every time you listen to them, they have a different point of view which usually contradicts their own view from the day before. Garbage radio station and their only interest is the sound of their own voices and winding up each and every caller by being controversial without actually giving any reasonable thoughts to the subject in hand. Do yourselves a big favour and listen to The Legends on Century FM
  24. Bin Laden would be a quality signing....The guys worth a fortuante - especially if we could transfer him to America, where we'd get at least $25 million!!!
