  1. If we can stop leaking goals (Beresford and Hazell), then surely we don't need to be so prolific? Keep the Faith
  2. I think he'll be missed - he was beginning to be more of a consistent performer, though I'm sure that he's left for good reason. I trust Sheridan to bring in the right player(s) to fill the gap he's left (). Roll on Saturday! Keep the Faith
  3. He was quality today, he's clearly our best attacking player and it would seem some people would rather see a Davies-style player (brash, maverick - very quick but no real end product) than someone who creates more chances and allows attacks to build up around him. For me, he's one of the first names on the team-sheet. He's a quality player, if he manages to stay fit he'll do wonders for this club. As for who his ideal partner is? I've no idea. I agree with the 'when Hughes comes back...' sentiment. Time will tell. Keep the Faith
  4. Have your say, by all means, this is the place to have an opinion and share it with the masses. Just don't talk rubbish? ta. Keep the Faith
  5. Leeslover? Lloydy? Men of reason. Of actual fact! This EXACT situation was the one faced by Blackpool last season. Now today they played away at Hillsbrough, in front of almost 20,000. Is this not an exciting prospect to you so-called Latics? Who at the first sign of trouble just think sacking the manager is the solution to all our problems. Hmm, a guy behind me today suggested we should have done this or done that as a team, booed the team as they went off at half time and booed them back on. He booed them off at the end and spouted bile every time Ricketts 'lost the ball' a.k.a. won a header, flicked it on only for Davies to be 20yards away. The same people who constantly get on Ricketts back are the same people who now are on Sheridan's. If you're not capable of seeing the contribution Ricketts makes, or are blind enough to not see that we're only eleven games in should just stay away from Boundary Park. Or at least sit in the away end, you might be seen as 'constructive' then. Keep the Faith
  6. Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa. Whoa! Sheridan out? It's October, give it time. We're only ELEVEN games into this season. Whatever happened last term is done, finished, over with. We started a new campaign against Swansea and it's not gone brilliantly, but with a bit of luck we could have easily had a different set of results. Winning the 1 or 2 games we have in hand would take us to roughly 12th. And that isn't so bad is it? Blackpool last season were awful up until about this time? And then went on the most amazing run in their club's history. "Sack Grayson....." blah blah. How many times will a manager be sacked before he's given a proper chance. Last season wasn't his team. This time it is. 11 games is not a proper chance. Keep the Faith Keep Sheridan.
  7. This is an angle I haven't heard before, though I guess a music venue and a football match are a little different. The way the crowd are dealt with is similar though, surely? I've never experienced anything other than a sitting environment but I think it would be a good experiment to see whether standing areas bring back proper atmospheres. Keep the Faith
  8. I've framed my match ticket and programme from the City game the memory of that afternoon will live on forever. And my girlfriend at the time (and for about a year afterwards) was a massive City fan, so she was never allowed to forget it either. A game which will never be forgotten is when we played Colchester in September 2004, drew 1-1 but David Eyres scored the best free kick I've ever seen, down at the Rochdale Road end. About 35 yards out, flew in the top left-hand corner, which was directly in line with me sat in the Chaddy. Beautiful. When we played Barnsley in the same season and scored two in two minutes to win was amazing too. I'd forgotten about some of the games I've read. (And does anyone else remember Eyres' free kick? I recall it was something special, even if no-one else does ) Keep the Faith edited because I can't type and watch England at the same time. Oops.
  9. Please God? Who needs God? We have Michael Ricketts Keep the Faith
  10. Spanking them (and their lone youth striker) off the park will shush them too. Keep the Faith
  11. It was clear from the chaddy too - moment of pure genius - but I think I was the only one of my group who saw it! Was given some funny looks when I almost wet myself. But it was the funniest part of the game. Keep the Faith
  12. Suit won't change anything! Haircut might be more fortunate. Keep the Faith
  13. Sheridan in a suit yesterday? And what looked like (from the Chaddy) Corney and a mystery woman making notes and comparing files throughout the game. Looked a little bit suspicious from where I was stood. Could this be the beginning of the end for Sheridan? Keep the Faith
  14. Didn't like it at first and still don't. I don't think it helps the atmosphere one bit, serves to deaden the singers - achieves nothing. Did I see the drummer child make a post on here? If so inform him of the poll result, or just get to ask around at 'Latics. It's not very popular, to say the least. Keep the Faith
  15. I was heard to say he was good player before the first game of the season. I know, I know. Keep the Faith p.s. when I say good, I really talked him up. oops.
  16. 3rd minute (if that) at Burnley - some muppet in a burberry cap (he must have been about 50 years old) shouts "COME ON RICKETTS! DO SOMETHING! *mutters* lazy \expletive/" There appears to be some kind of mob mentality when it comes to Ricketts? What possibly could he have done (or not done) to have abuse hurled at him for WINNING A HEADER. He needs time. As said by many before me, he's not played many games and its clear that he's not properly fit. Even half-fit, though, he's a better player than most, if not all of our team. In my opinion that is. His movement and touches are something we've not seen in a striker (well, I certainly haven't in my 8-9years watching Latics). Give him some time. He's certainly a lot better than the drivel we've had up front in the past (read: Craig Dudley, Allan Smart, Carlo Corrazzin etc etc.) and he will show it. Some crosses into the box would be nice. I agree with the drop Taylor/Bertrand on the left idea. Keep the Faith
  17. My Mum's from Salford (and so supports Man Utd) and my Dad doesn't like football! So my existance is nothing to do with a Latics' victory Keep the Faith
  18. Any of the 'big' *ahem* Premiership sides, at home. Bring on Birmingham. Keep the Faith
  19. Maybe he's omnipotent? (or just not a very good drummer) Has it not been said to him that there's a lot of contention over his place in the crowd? Maybe we don't need to lose a drum, just change how it's used. And it's style? Ala Blackpool (as much as that hurts to type). Keep the Faith
  20. Last night he was nothing but detrimental to the atmosphere, I feel. I wasn't sat in my usual seat *unimpressed face* - and was in fact futher away from him. He was still a right royal pain in the behind, I don't think he's helping the crowd at all. Give him his due, he does start the odd chant, but he's an awful timekeeper and it just drowns out most of the singing. Can we just offer him a deal; a good kicking or leave his kneecaps be and get him to just join in with the singing? The drummer at Blackpool has a proper drum, sits at the back of the stand and only gets the chants going. It's about time we got together and told this muppet to learn how to drum or pack it up. The little blighter.(!) A slightly miffed Latic. Keep the Faith
  21. Let's all wave goodbye to Leeds First team to be relegated, mathematically, at Christmas? I'm off to the bookies (dancing all the way.... ) *imagines dirrrrrty Leeds in League Two; Leeds vs Shrewsbury - Leeds vs Dagenham and Redbridge!* This has made my year. etc. Keep the Faith
  22. I thought it had all dragged on too long at first - that we would never sign him. Now after this latest set-back, is it worth pursuing our interest when Bruce clearly isn't keen on sending him here? Maybe we'd be better off looking elsewhere? Also for someone who'll be here for longer than 6months? I feel that if Kilkenny IS a revelation (if he arrives, that is) he'll just clear off in January, leaving us high and dry at the most crucial time of the season. Maybe I'm just too pessimistic? Keep the Faith
  23. The owl on top of the lookers side executive box *cough* has been there for at least 5 seasons. I have a picture of it from the 2001 Cardiff game. I thought everyone knew it was there? I should have spent more time watching the game. Keep the Faith
  24. I myself am just up having only got back from the Clyde game at 3am! A long journey but well worth it, I am not quite as nervous now as I was after the Rochdale game about last season. The front two look good, commanding and I think with a few more games under their belt, will be a force to be reckoned with The back four though, what's going on? Sloppiness all over, but I think with some more regimented training on shape and working as a unit, they'll do okay. Even the midfield impressed me, though I'm concerned with Taylor's apparent lack of form. The dye has affected him in a bad way? I'm just unsure. Overall though, I think Allott and Davies have been the most impressive of the new boys so far, and I think my shiny new Davies shirt will look rather fabulous. ;) Keep the Faith
  25. What's wrong with mouldy old dough? Call me old fashioned but.... Keep the Faith
