  1. I agree, he looks resigned [no pun] to his fate as he doesn't have a clue how to fix it. Backing the players is not necessary as we know the buck stops with him.
  2. I don't think for one minute Frank Rothwell will "walk away", it's a long-term project for the good of sport in the town and the community at large. Unfortunately, he bought a football club and the clue is in the title.
  3. Never go back. It needs to be someone new...unless it's Dowie.
  4. Any competent manager plying his trade at our level or above is surely going to have to drawn in by the money. Out of work, then maybe settle for less and relish the challenge. I have no idea who.
  5. Although when Unsworth took the job there were already rumblings regarding his tenure with Everton, I think we were prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt. I wasn't particularly impressed by his appointment. It's pretty obvious now, he does not appear to possess the necessary qualities to take the playing side of the club forward. Any new appointment does not carry guarantees and I suppose patience from the fans would be there if the performances did show an upward trend. Results would have to follow otherwise the merry-go-round would be on the cards again. As for Frank. he's a free man and can choose to sit wherever he wants to but surely he can see what is front of his eyes and understand why the fans are making those chants at Unsworth. I can't see anyone abusing Frank on a personal level.
  6. I think it might be eight but yes, that particular one is bottom of the list.
  7. I sarcastically predicted bottom four after ten games and by the time Lundstrum returned. Should've kept my thoughts to myself.
  8. FFS! Goodbye "promotion hopefuls". Hello "relegation fighters". A good job for Unsworth this is not a home game.
  9. Reading the well-written match article on the official site, the wording bigs-up Bromley and Cheek whilst suggesting the Latics defence will struggle and also how their manager has done so well with the squad. Or is that just me reading something between the lines which isn't actually there? Anyway, I cannot see any difference, unless Lundstrum returns, no new signing and probably Shelton and Sheron in the middle again. Cheek will probably run the show, bag a few and another weekend goes down the pan. Sorry for the doom and gloom but the Unsworth effect is well and truly upon me.
  10. I think we will miss "Outmuscled" just as much! I also think BP will return.
  11. Norwood should have been beyond that by now. Thanks Dave.
  12. I think it's quite funny, this pointing thing which lots of players do. I can never figure out what they are pointing at and nobody seems to taking any notice anyway.
  13. FWIW, I can agree with the Norwood comment. He surely must be kicking himself and angry for being drawn in by Unsworth's spiel. Then again, he's in the latter stages of his career and could be happy to take the money. Let's face it, he's under no pressure from the fans because it's there to be seen that Unsworth's set-up does not supply him with the service he requires to score goals. Absolute waste of the guy's talent and the fans have also been hoodwinked. Again.
  14. I don't bet but if I did, I would be betting against my own team, which is absolutely criminal and yet completely sensible. Unless he comes up with nothing short of a footballing miracle, the outcome is already set in stone.
  15. Unsworth literally is the 'fly in the ointment'.
  16. Our strike force could possibly be the envy of every club in this league [bar Chesterfield] and the financial backing most definitely. I agree, to not blow these teams out of the water [ok, maybe a tad enthusiastic] is a huge, huge disappointment. I will agree that cohesion and knack for winning ways can take time but I cannot see any indication in which this scenario will happen whilst Unsworth is in charge of proceedings. I have no inkling of who could replace him, I leave that to those with more knowledge than myself. Just one thing, Latics are in this League on merit and find themselves on a par with the likes of Boreham Wood. Although I believe we should be perceived as a big fish in a small pond, we have no right to consider ourselves above the other teams. They will come to BP with the desire to take our scalp and the more it happens, the less of a "big fish" we become. Wins need to come, and fast.
  17. I think any fan would take a win, despite the performance being not so good but sub-standard performances, combined with losses, is maybe a tad too far for the paying customer to part with their money any longer. Football, to me, is a short burst of entertainment with a 50/50 chance of a feel good factor come the end of it. Perception plays a huge part and how much the club and the game is a part of any fan's life. I started watching Latics in the late 1960s with my brother, followed by a break, then revived with my two daughters. I am extremely lucky to still be here to actually complain about my beloved football club and cannot make the games these days. When the Rothwells purchased the club, I was relieved to see the Lemsagams usurped and a big part of my life given a fresh chance to flourish. To witness one man and his sheer incompetence undermine their benevolence is quite infuriating. I cannot get past his pre-season hyperbole, the investment in players who were "targeted" in the presumption that he had a plan and a style of play in mind which would be a definite upgrade on the previous season. It just hasn't happened, so far, and from what I can perceive, it never will. Do I dislike the man? No. Do I dislike his football? Yes. Do I think he will succeed? No. Do I want someone else to be given a go? Yes.
