  1. He's obviously suffering from idée fixe, the downfall of many managers.
  2. There have been times when Notts Co,, Chesterfield and Wrexham all struggled in this league. The Blackpool fan did warn us this could happen and now it is. There is no way the club is going to ditch this expensive set-up, it is set to succeed but it won't succeed with the players Unsworth has inherited...not all, but most of them. Like the rest of you, I despise the defensive set-up and tactics. It's shit, the fans will vote with their feet but I doubt it will prompt any change within the structure of the playing side of things. There is obviously a plan in place which doesn't include a vast majority of the current squad. As has been said, Unsworth cannot speak his mind. He must be as pissed off with this shower of shite as we are and he can't do a thing about it just yet. Something appears to be amiss with his behaviour tonight. Will we find out? Probably not.
  3. I get where you are coming from but he has brought in Rooney, an attacking midfielder and a hot prospect in Carty yet persists with defensive formation.
  4. Who can blame him and I am 100% sure he is going to get the opportunity to do just that.
  5. I cannot see Unsworth saying anything other than it's unfortunate they are both injured...again! What he thinks privately is another matter. I totally agree, the pair of them should be put out to pasture and the money saved [if any after paying them off] be used more wisely. Are we going to see "...contract terminated by mutual consent"?
  6. Ridiculous in our situation but not unheard of for a returning player to break down quickly and he probably came back too soon. I agree though, I think we could do better but he scored that vital penalty Tuesday night, so...
  7. Is this news on Unsworth's pre-match interview? I haven't listened to it yet.
  8. Being non-league, the club's options and success in the loan market will be hampered. Hopefully this one pays off and the only way to find out is to play him.
  9. Luamba certainly hasn't been receiving rave reviews, has he? He may turn out to be better than Luamba and, given he's a speculative risk, one month with the option to extend seems a reasonable first step. What to people expect? Experienced EFL lower league players to come flocking to our door? I don't expect that to happen without the club dangling a small fortune in front of their faces and I don't see that happening.
  10. I agree. That would be a throwback, in a sense, to what Sheridan had to do. Wrexham have the luxury of being able to throw bags of money around to tempt players who will definitely be quality in this league. Despite what some are saying regarding unaccounted for gate receipts, I don't think the club has the money it would take. It feels a bit like that period between Christmas and New Year, one peak of excitement just gone and everything is in a flat limbo, waiting for the next one. Fingers crossed ours is on the way.
  11. Players from the EFL would have to have exhausted all options to drop out of the league, unless silly money is waved in front of them. I don't think Latics have the clout to do that, hence his comments regarding the wait until January, which probably means a raid on Everton. Free agents, there must be a reason why they are free or go for players from non-league. As I said previously, I think Unsworth will assess returning players and hope we can stay clear of the relegation zone until January, with new blood coming in to push the team on.
  12. Is anybody optimistic about this one, expecting a win..a draw at best? I've had the optimism beaten out of me, I'm afraid and will not relax until the team climbs the league away from danger. On the one hand, I want the fixtures to come as soon as possible, on the other I dread the outcomes.
  13. Probably still sell loads of tickets. I can't go but would rather be there than watch it on TV.
  14. If that figure of 33 includes scholars then I personally do not count the figure as 33. How many first team squad players are there and how many are injured...six, maybe? I don't see him as having many options on the player front but tactics is a different matter.
  15. Long-termism doesn't stand a chance with the short-termism world view which is the standard expectation nowadays. Your right, of course but so are the people who are concerned with the lack of a win since Unsworth took over, it's a definite monkey on his back and somehow, he needs to get rid of it and quickly. It's going to be a tightrope balancing act for him, unfortunately. I'm honestly not expecting a win tomorrow night, which is a fucking sad state of affairs.
  16. Watch the interview, he says they are not fit enough and it could take months, not weeks.
  17. Agree BP, but surely Unsworth asked Gardner if he felt he was able to play. I'm feeling the desperation to get the result is forcing his hand. A squad with more strength-in-depth and it's not so much a problem.
  18. Listening to Unsworth's interview, none of them are fit enough. He'll get another outing on Tuesday, no doubt.
  19. We have one forward thinking player aright now and that seems to be Fondop. We await Porter and Hope, which is why I don't think any new forwards will come in, despite me saying I hope players come in sooner rather than later. Luamba appears to be a 'Hobson's choice' at the moment. Maybe Vaughan should be given his opportunity from the start on Tuesday, can't see it myself, but you never know.
  20. BP, we don't know what is going on behind the scenes. Unsworth may be trying to bring players in and hopefully it's sooner rather than later.
  21. Unsworth post-match thoughts are up online. Once again, he states he is not asking the players to defend the lead and better players are needed, which may also have a detrimental effect on the payers although to me, it should gee them up. Fitness levels are not good and it could take three months before they are at a level needed, also looks like Clarke has broke his hand.
  22. There's been nothing on that front since the failed attempt to buy Nuttall. I don't think there will be, I feel Unsworth will wait until Hope, Porter, Hogan and Angol are back to assess his options. I don't believe for one minute Unsworth is telling the team to sit back and defend a 1-0 lead. They had opportunity to increase the lead but didn't and that is were their mental frailty is kicking in with a lack of belief and the inevitable salvaging a draw from the jaws of victory. Unsworth knows their weakness, however, calling them out in public could result in even more of a collapse and those draws will become defeats again. We have to wait till the backroom staff and the set-up begin to make a positive and tangible impact which is not going to be overnight. The damage this season has already been done with poor recruitment and a total lack of preparation. The task is to repair the damage and keep the club in this division, which again, is not going to be easy. There are some total fuckwits on Twitter. I think some latch onto the hashtag just for the WUM factor. Assholes.
