  1. If everybody thought twice, the Twitter shit-storm that hounded Adam Rooney out of the club never would have happened. I was totally embarrassed to be an Oldham fan, that day. It is an inspiring interview and gives me more confidence in Baxter becoming the player we all wish him to be. Things can turn around for both him and the club. I envision him being the kind of player who will stay for the long-haul.
  2. At the start of this thread, I thought I had opened Twitter instead. Stevenage are just about as consistent as are the Latics...could be any scoreline.
  3. I know that you are not, I was giving you a dig in the ribs. I would hazard a guess that your gut feeling comes as a result of the catalogue of managerial disasters that have blighted the club in recent times. The match on day 2 was, I believe, still running on Wild's momentum and mixed with the sense of occasion. The last gasp goal from Crewe seems to have had a definite kick-in-the-teeth effect, then, combined with Scholes' bad selection and strategy, last night was largely a night to forget. Fair play to Morecambe though for going home with the points. Still could be in with a shout at the playoffs, if circumstances go favourably. I don't think Scholes will be short-term and the close season could be an interesting one.
  4. True. Twitter is a pi** boil 99% of the time and is best avoided. Whoever it was must have conveniently forgot that Shez also managed to achieve relegation form on an early season, pristine pitch.
  5. The pitch is the same for both teams, so I don't think the argument stands. They dealt with it better.
  6. I don't think it will be an apology as such but maybe a concession that he got it wrong and will keep learning from his mistakes. Realistically, I think that is all we can expect, at this moment in time.
  7. I'm sure you will find people who say the only way out of League Two is to have players who are 6''3" and over and just keep lumping the ball into the box. Personally, I don't want to pay my hard earned cash to watch that kind of dross.
  8. Of course we are allowed to make observations and we are allowed to express our opinions. Unless Scholes comes out and explains his team selection, then we are in the dark and left to speculate. He sees them in training, we don't. He is learning the managerial game and it is blatantly obvious that his football nous and ethos cannot be absorbed and implemented by players not of his choosing and who he has only worked with for seven days. I'm tempted to say "slowly, slowly" but maybe that's a bit too sarcastic.
  9. Meaning what you wrote was downright ridiculous.
  10. So the French lads are suddenly a pile of sh*t now, are they? Subsequent to the bigging-up they were getting on here, after the Crawley and Yeovil wins. Scholes is one week and three games in and I bet some are already sharpening the knives. He is a rookie...a very high profile rookie. This is not his team, he had no input during the transfer window and he has to try and impose his playing ethos onto the players he has available. The play offs are more than likely out the window but until it is mathematically impossible, then who knows? Scholes will not walk from this job. He is not a quitter and I think he will also realise that the summer will mean a squad rebuild of his own making. If Lemsagam puts obstacles in his way, then he could tell him to shove it. I am also amongst those bemused as to why our two loanees are not making the squad. Are they injured or are they just not good enough?
  11. That is what I thought. It is a 'nothing' article, as if the media feel obliged to include Latics in their wonderful world of football news, now the club has a high-profile manager at the helm. Success or failure will bring more media attention. Mediocrity will probably see a media anathema.
  12. While I agree that the pitch is in need of renewal, it's also worth remembering that both teams have to deal with it during a match. Maybe the squad should train on it and get used to bypassing the midfield and clogging the ball into the box, now and again. It's not what we, as fans, want to see, though, is it? So yes, the playing surface is quite important although I don't see that getting fixed any time soon.
  13. And here you are, dropping hints galore.
  14. Doh! Now you've told me, I can understand why the images look so familiar. I should have realised there would be a method in the madness, in which case, I look forward to what you come up with next. Cheers, Matt.
  15. "You don't need to find a team mate at this level, just bang it in the box and see what happens" I pay my money to see teams play football and finding a team mate is essential when playing football. While I agree to some extent that on occasions, firing a ball into the box can pay dividends, I would rather see a more measured approach. Needless time wasting is abominable and nine times out of ten, bites teams on the bum, especially Latics.
  16. I'm ok with the typography, the pic is not to my taste at all, it's too unrelated to football and more akin to a teenage forum for safe sex.
  17. Straight for the throat with your first post! Nobody except Scoles and Lemsagam...and the accountants, no doubt...which is the way it should be.
  18. Even if Tuesday ends up the wrong scoreline, there are still thirteen games to go.
  19. More national media attention for Latics. Strange days. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47268290 On the BBC's football page today I saw "Scholes' Oldham take on Crewe" How long will the media attention last, I wonder?
  20. I think the two eventually go hand-in-hand, do they not? Maybe a statement re: team selection would have been off the agenda, given recent shenanigans.
  21. Tongue-in-cheek? Coming back from yet another injury, he's not going to get into the team. Better he goes somewhere he will hopefully get time on the pitch. And free up some money.
  22. You can't know everything all at once. Why not wait until further information is available?
