  1. i would have agreed with dropping mvoto for a couple of games (if we had a replacement that is) but if he wasnt their tonight we'd have shipped at least 3
  2. i am proud of the lads tonight who fought like heroes in the face of adversity (and a truly horrendous, shocking referee) it wasnt a great performance by any means and our defence again crumbled too easy when put under a bit of pressure, but the boys in black wanted it more than the iron. i am even more proud of the 350 travelling faithful, on a tuesday night at 22 quid a ticket, a 100% defeat record and a :censored: hole ground we never win at.. in fantastic voice all evening rallying the lads. tonight i truly believe the 12th man helped massively in latics coming home with 3 pts. if this should be in the match thread i apologise in advance, but we might not experience many better days than this over the coming few months. so i want the world to know how much i love oafc before the doom and gloomers have chance to spread their crap. ktf
  3. 2- 1 latics tonight with a 81st minute taylor stunner.
  4. I think they will already have a shortlist of who they'd like to approach, Hill moving onwards and upwards has surely been inevitable since January at least, whoever comes in will have quite a lot to live up to which sounds odd but Hill has got Rochdale punching above their weight
  5. Reuben Reid has been added to the list, i though he'd accepted lower wages on his contract and was set to stay at Latics?
  6. Like has been said, there has never been a quote from Paul that he will ever drop through the leagues and play for latics, lots of speculation because he is spotted at BP a fair few times. Oldham is not his boy hood team, not his home town team- he is a Salford lad and supports United, with a soft spot for Latic because of his father. and his experiences of a youngster being taken to Boundary Park. Never had him down as a coach though, but good look to a true model professional on and off the pitch, sadly football in this century is severley lacking his type. if England produces a better all round midfielder than Scholes in the next 20 years, my god i will be going to that football ground and watching him play.
  7. Ive always wanted to get to a bundesliga game, ive heard of the atmosphere and the very cheap tickets. Im a smoker and one of the things i look forward too when holidaying abroad is being able to light up in a cosy bar with a beer in t'other hand. Berlin will be a definite although ill be concentrating more on the beer than sightseeing to be honest. Well two of you now have put Hamburg on the map so ive got somewhere to start researching, cheers. By the way, im sort of assuming prices for things such as Petrol/beer/eating out are similar if not slightly less than in the uk, i don't immagine Germany being a more expensive country than UK?? EDIT- Just watched a 4 minute clip of Wunderland- my god someone would be upset if that builidng set on fire and burnt to the ground- some man hours gone into that! Convincing girlfriend to go and watch toy trains whizz around for a couple of hrs might be hard work though, it's something i'd love to see!
  8. A tiny little village in western Poland not far from the border, Kunice. So is Hamburg worth looking into, i did think about that mainly as its one of the few German cities ive heard of and its not too far of a detour.
  9. Im driving through to poland next month because my girlfriends visiting family (she has Polish roots, she is born and bred Lancashire not an immigrant so back off) and decided to make a quick tour of Germany whilst where their, problem being our knowledge of Germany is limited to say the least. Berlin is the obvious one along the way for a good night out or 2 but i want to throw a tent in the boot and need some recommendations from fellow Latics who know of any places that id be mad to drive past without stopping.. cheers , i know its a shot in the dark but you never know what some of you might know..
  10. Fair play to them not got a lot of love for wigan supporters but they will be partying on the pier tonight
  11. Survival in league one, survival of the club, and Man U away in the 3rd rd of the fa cup.
  12. already looking forward to visiting it in 2012 for a npower championship game.
  13. Goalkeeper didnt look to have the physique / confidence to make it in the game to be honest , thats me being cynical and i only stayed for an hour, but thats what i made of him- had little to do to be fair. by the way did anyone else notice 95 percent of Bury goalkicks the keeper would play it short, the defender would play it back to him and most the time lose possession from there on, it was quite bizzare, i went to the league game last week it was exactly the same thing. no one culd accuse bury reservres of being a long ball team thats for def.
  14. Has anyone trialed the new Cider that Stella artois have made? Not usually a cider lover but its bloody gorgeous. 4.5% and 8 x 568ml bottles for £8 at Tesco one of the best ciders i've tried, recommended even to those that dont usually touch the stuff.
  15. According to mr PA, Brooke got a hattrick, crediting the 2nd of the afternoon to him was slightly ambitious! Value for money overall....
  16. sounds odd seen as its the furthest football league ground from OL1 but disapointed to see Plymouth go, a good ground good fans and a good city, but yeah 1 less expensive overnite stay for the squad so silver lining and all.
  17. Love the rumour on their about Taylor and Winchester to Everton for 1.5m and Jose Baxter to boundary park on a years loan, fair play to the instigator i couldnt even make that one up. Also Paul anderson from Notts Forest apparently!
  18. Is it just the main stand open today then, is there anyone on a turnstile to donate a tenner to?
  19. Some justice done for those that have suffered , especially 9/11 and 7/7 so that im pleased about, however i wouldnt be celebrating too much at ground zero , certainly wouldnt be over the moon if i was on the frontline in Afghan, Iraq, Somalia etc. But had to be done , lets just hope theres no major consequences
  20. Some good PR for the club i think on saturday, great turnout for a dead rubber match fair play to those who got in the spirit, ali g looked the real deal to me, funny how the OWTB chant actually sounds brilliant when your pissed up, loved that 15 minutes spell inspired by Gingerbread man. well done on the drum latics Lee made a good atmo even better.
  21. i'll try that in the 2nd week of pre-season when i really am bored! don't get why its a 40 day challenge?
