  1. Missed the opening ceremony for obvious reasons. The human rights issue has been tacked onto the event because of its magnitude but the thing is theres so many issues in all areas of the world that arnt fair or right not just Tibet. Fair play if they people wish to protest but id rather enjoy the Olympics in a sporting context, personally i love it particularly the track events. Watched the swimming this morning, the americans and aussies are league ahead of everyone else better facilities and attitude to sport is my opinion on why thats the case
  2. Thankyou to all the support weve received and all the people following our progress been a really good experience and i dont regret any of it. I did sadly have to take a break on wednesday to go hospital because basically i couldnt put any weight on my left foot and was being bollocked by a nurse (told peanuts to take me home straight away) and a doctor because the cut aside i had a red line running upto my knee which was described as 'tracking' a sign of infection and if i walked anymore on it would continue to go up my leg and eventually im putting infected blood in my heart, been taking 12 tablets a day since. I managed to get myself back and through friday and saturday i did my best. Too many people to thank for so many reasons, jacko with the t shirts, the support drivers gerry and keith, all of the sponsors (inc jeff on here who visited us one evening as we ate) weve got lots of letters to send to individuals who've helped us. Yesterday was a great day and what a football match to walk all that way for even if we were all as wet as a fishes swimsuit
  3. Amazing performance from Heath Ledger as the joker. Clever and menacing
  4. Well if he got beaten a lot of times against league 2 opposition in a friendly that wouldn't fill me hugely with confidence in playing him against League 1 opposition in a league match. Did we get his name out of interest macca?
  5. No what im saying is Jamaican players have cool names. P.S Ruel Fox was ace. Wonder what hes doing these days hmm UPDATE: Because im sad i looked on wikipedia he apparently ran a restaurant in Ipswich after retiring from football and is now a coach at non league Whitton United FC. Note to self: If your going to pose questions and then subsequently answer them yourself i need to make sure they're relatively interesting?
  6. You've got major issues with pink havnt you phill.
  7. Miss Black Country. Once you go black you never go back
  8. Lol aye not long now, less than two weeks until i start complaining about my feet on a daily basis
  9. leeslover id take your explanation as spiel (a usually high-flown talk or speech, esp. for the purpose of luring people to a sale or a pitch) You carnt pull the wool over our eyes.
  10. Sounds pretty baaabaric to me
  11. Thanks for the mention much appreciated, seen a few billboards up for that station. I secretly listen to Magic
  12. Thats Amazing. All the very best. In a harsh, nasty world its fantastic gestures like this which give you faith in people.
  13. Im sure Freddy Adu is now at Benfica. He came on against England in that friendly with the USA didnt he and played crap as did Eddie Johnson. Because America is what it is i think they get very over hyped, i think you'd find far more talent in places like Korea and Japan partly because they have a far healthier diet
  14. Its a nice dilemma to be in. Always better to have an embarrassment of riches than scraping the barrel. Initially it will almost certainly be Hughes and Davies starting, with O Grady and Alessandra knocking on the door the latter will be all the better for the number of games he played last season maybe even claiming a regular starting place come the new year. The rest will be handy substitutes for the second half
  15. Im probably well overdue to comment regarding this sponsored walk considering ive decided to do it with phill. First of all id like to thank everyone for their encouraging comments and all the contributions which have been made so far. Peanut has very kindly put himself forward to be our support driver and im extremely grateful because realistically this wouldnt work without having that. Obviously this is going to be a very difficult challenge and im training as hard as i can (currently walking a few miles every 2 days but its increasing as we get closer) but its for a very worthy cause and thats the greatest motivation to do it really. Dr kershaws is a fantastic facility the town should be proud of. Phills doing a great job of organising accomodation and sponsors. Im currently waiting on feedback of sponsorship from the company i work for, having quoted what premier inn have done for us in terms of costs of putting us up so fingers crossed there. As well as the usual family and friends who will sponsor im putting collection posters and jars in my grans pub in denshaw my aunts florist (four seasons) in watersheddings and hopefully a couple of other places. Im hoping to take a camcorder so that we can keep a video diary as we do it, which hopefully we can stick online at some stage just so that people can have a look at how things go. Try to make it interesting, i dont think watching 2 lads walking road for hours would make compulsive viewing nor would us briefly tackling knife crime in south bermondsey but we'll see. Once again thanks for all the support so far its much appreciated.
  16. "There's no panic a lot of things will fall into place at the last minute." When players signed have exhausted their options and sign as a last resort.
  17. I actually thought Craig Rocastle had some decent games most notably blackpool away in the play offs where a certain mr wellens was largely anonymous. Tad harsh maybe?
  18. Just to add familys in India and China are increasingly wanting to own cars, demand, supply, prices spiral etc
  19. Around £40 for my 1.3 suzuki swift. Doubt we will ever see £1.00 a litre ever again to be honest
  20. Havnt witnessed the footage but perhaps weve enlisted the local gypsies plaguing the town, what with the credit crunch biting. Look out for familiar relics on a scap of land near you.
  21. £70,000 for Wayne Gill, a midfielder who couldn't even get in the plastic scousers starting 11 has to be up there. Daylight robbery.
  22. Echo all the sentiments made on this. Perspective is the major emotion i feel. God bless him and his family
  23. Thankyou very much I have im very slow to change my habits im like an old man trapped in a young man with forums takes me an age to fathom all the clickyness of the wealth of options
