  1. Doyle on his own is a better striking option than we’ve had in years
  2. Pretty much. A few flags, the club name, a clock, a mural. Not hard really.
  3. Can you even see them from inside the ground?
  4. Hadn't thought about that but it's so poor. It doesn't shock me in the slightest either. North Stand is really depressing looking. Has no Latics identity whatsoever.
  5. It indicates a hint of doubt. Possibly a philosophical thing, but probably American, init. Probably.
  6. Decent read. Was 99% sure I was sat behind his family for a game earlier in the season actually. Quite a lot of them. Cracking player and rather than concentrating on getting money for him, I hope we can improve the pitch a bit so we get to see the lad play the football we know he can play.
  7. The long distance trips are quite fairly priced. Probably equalised by more expensive shorter trips.
  8. Surely the cost of a player and the expectations for that player are intertwined..?
  9. Why wouldn't he be near us? We’ve thrown a bit of money about lately and Preston are 7th(?) in the Championship. Given a Championship side signed him for a fee from another Championship club, and he’s on a 3 year-deal, you’ve got to think he’s on £4K+ a week at least. How much we’re paying of that I don’t know, but I bet there were more suitors than us for his services. That being said, Byrne hasn’t done much either recently, and they’re similar players, so maybe there’s something bigger which is causing our creative players to be struggling
  10. If you’re going off how much money he earns compared to his performance levels I’d be confident we’d all agree he’s disappointed. He’s a player deemed by 4 clubs as fit for the Championship, the prime age of his career. Would you argue that he’s reached the levels you’d expect from a Championship (or too end League 1) player?
  11. After Pringle has disappointed, there’s a starting spot waiting for McEleney if he can show something on his return
  12. Surely we glide through it with class like Doyle, Byrne, Bryan? I don’t see us anywhere near the bottom in 6 games to be honest
  13. I’d be fascinated to see how many assists or chances created per minute played Holloway has for us
  14. This. It feels like going to see a side whose home games are temporarily at a makeshift ground at times It’s not much time or effort to appear respectable and professional, not look like scruffy twats
  15. Classic Latics - ‘off the back of the Blackburn game he needs to justify a starting spot’. What? Lad gets two brilliant goals away at 2nd in the league and we’re asking him to start using his elbows and face his back to goal more, despite already having two strikers whose games are to do that... We’ve seen him 3/4 times. Give him a chance to get settled - he’s doing alright so far in my book.
  16. Could somebody update our Tuesday night record of recent years?
  17. Surely a bit different a 28 y.o. Pringle to a 33 y.o. Green?
  18. From the limited times I’d seen him play in other shirts, I had him down as an attacking midfielder. We’re definitely not getting enough from Byrne or Pringle at present. Neither are creating nearly as much as they should be.
  19. While Bury and Rochdale fans say they don’t care about us, they can’t take numbers to any away games, not even to each other. I think it’s just an expedient way of defending the fact we always eclipse their support by quite some way. As we have a genuine belief (knowledge) that we’re a bigger club than both and it’s pretty odious when a fan base pushes that it’s hard to imagine they don’t dislike us
  20. Bury and Rochdale away fixtures I always look for cos they’re the guaranteed aways I know I’ll attend, but I think a rivalry is as much if not more about the home tie. One of those games you feel up for even on a Saturday in November. In that sense I couldn’t give a monkeys if we played Rochdale, Bury or Gillingham or MK at BP, never give a thought to sitting nearer the away fans or changing any part of pre match routine for.
  21. Aside from the mega-clubs who we hate but are now so far detached to not be considered rivals, I'd say Tranmere and Huddersfield would be the ones I consider biggest rivals, although the former will take a while to get back and the latter will have a new generation of fans and the TV money. Bury I couldn't care less beyond it being a local away - they've got a bunch of fooligan yoofs who probably won't keep going after their £50 season tickets expire and struggle to fill half of the Chaddy. Rochdale - totally indifferent. A team nobody can have rivalries with. Bolton - they've been above us for most of my time supporting, same with Blackburn. It's a shame Stockport aren't at our level cos they actually have a decent following and are local enough.
