  1. Just tried to get to Oldham for a bowls meeting only to find a queue half way down the hill in Grasscroft. People just don't know how to drive in bad conditions these days. When I was younger.......... Lots of snow settling with slippery slush on the road but will be gone by lunch time. Should be on. Play next round next Tuesday. Can't find anything in rules to cover circumstances if previous round not yet completed.
  2. Didn't need to put covers on so far but this evening might be a bit tricky. I wanted Chelsea away because they play at the Bridge. So after Leicester and Shrewsbury..........
  3. Thats the one I wanted. Should have enough to stay up now. A fit striker would be icing....
  4. If he can sort his temperament and realise he doesn't have to do everything he won't be here in two and half years.
  5. Good summary HarryBosch. If Tope could do the last bit as well as the first we would have won. Davies did score but that goal was not from open play and we need him to score more from open play. When I watch him I just feel he is only doing just enough and not really putting himself about - could be carrying an injury I suppose. The pitch is starting to cut up. I think the Jewell effect is wearing off in that the team seemed to be more positive. Trying to win rather than not lose. Byrne is not the answer. A fit Doyle, not on the bench for Preston as I was told during the match it was a Boyle, or similar is what we need. Goals is what we need.
  6. Well it was not a mirage as you still get the start of the info when you google their names.
  7. Well they seem a happy bunch if TWAL is anything to go by. I hope they don't make an announcement today because you can't hear what they are saying in the Great White Elephant.
  8. Seems Edmundson has gone/is going coastal with Fawns. 11 out and four unregistered. Team sheet will be interesting
  9. Considering how many players we have now shipped out, Green the latest and Banks rumoured for Swindon, isn't it time they started ie tomorrow registering the four we have 'brought' in so they are available for Saturday? OR is the official line not the whole story?
  10. 23 goals in nine before he was picked. 26 goals in 18 since he was picked.
  11. As I have suggested on the takeover thread the problem with registration of players is likely to be financial on the assumption that Abdallah is in some way involved. What is normally a form filling and document filing formality becomes much more complicated if there is third party involvement. It could be SCMP but I don't think so.
  12. Chesterfield who were in takeover talks have continued to sign players and there is none of that subject to registration crap on their news.
  13. So we are now on seven out and three not quite in. I've wondered how they would apply the wages cap in relation to Menig. No way are we paying him 10k per week without 'someone' refunding a large if not all of his cost. BUT the wages cap is a percentage of turnover and I assume the refund is regarded as a donation included in turnover but only a percentage counts towards the amount we can spend so his playing for us restricts what we can spend on the rest of the squad.
  14. The whole of the cricket ground out back of my house is well and truly still frozen. Have to cover it all.
  15. Pitch will be fine Saturday so long as they cover it Thursday by which time it should have thawed but who knows if the great whatever it is still hasn't happened might just have a frozen patch Saturday as well.
  16. If the updating is outsourced it is strange that they can add Jamie but not show the Peter Clarke loan move. Poor service.
  17. Is there a little way round FFP in that if a player isn't registered his wages don't count? I know they can't play until we register them but it does seem strange.
  18. According to BBC we have signed Jamie Walker! When you click link it is Wigan not us.
  19. I would like to unvote my Yes because I didn't read the instructions before voting. I support my club in whatever games they play at home. I don't like the format of the competition however it is possible that Chelsea have done us all a favour by playing Batshuayi because clearly that is not what was expected or intended. The invited teams are under 21 (strangely that only means a minimum of 6 of the starting 11 u21[on 30th June]) but under the rules could finish the game with any 8 players from the club over 21 so no rules were broken by Chelsea. I do however think the competition will run out of favour if an 'under 21' side with members who have played in their clubs first team wins the trophy.
  20. Wonder if Corney has pulled the plug in an attempt to get the EFL to make a decision. Still can't get my head round the idea that McEleney needs International clearance when he is an EU citizen - well he sounds like he is. AS is eluded to there seems to be some sort of 'embargo'. Looks like we might do as well in January as we did in December. It doesn't look like a transfer embargo to me. It looks more like Wellens has no more money to spend so has to lose players first.
  21. The move makes even less sense now he will be joining Ripley. Fortunate he can't play against us.
  22. I suppose Wellens must be in denial about our position. It makes no sense sending Clarke to Bury as he is just the sort of backs to the wall player they need. Some on here seem to have forgotten that we already have signed a striker.
  23. The only fact is that he has gone. Can’t have added anything good to his cv. Let us wish him well and hope for a return to preJewell.
  24. Two teams on the fall, played 5 drawn 2 lost 3, at their ground. Looks like a draw or am I being too positive?
