  1. This offer is part of the backward spiral. They need the money now so that is why the window is short. It has nothing to do with fairness. Nothing to do with consideration for the loyal fans. Just because I can pay doesn't mean everybody can so that puts some of us in the position of being disappointed by the short term offer. £420 is just too much, £360 is taking the piss and £300 what we can expect to have to pay but not by the end of March. Still think this offer is a massive vote of no confidence - justifiable after Saturday and spot on if we lose tonight.
  2. Interestingly Shez has this as a must win after the draw on Saturday. We needed four points from these 'easier' home fixtures - one or two will be a disaster.
  3. The way the finance was sold initially was interest free over four months but you had to pay a fee which I assume is £15 for the £300 adult tickets. Over ten months it was rather expensive with a fee and interest. Clearly if you are going to buy but don't have the cash now the finance over four months would be the way to go. My concern, could just be a result of the depressing game we all watched on Saturday, is that this represents a rather pessimistic view of our chances of staying up and they want us to commit now. The problem they have is who, if we are relegated, will pay £420 after 30th April? Nobody! I agree with the idea that fewer season tickets will be sold but I'm sure, given that I got it for £200 last year, they will raise more money this year. As someone who will benefit from advancing years for the first time next season I don't understand why concessions are not reduced to 50% of the adult price in March. Surely we, the concessions, will all wait until the end of April. Finally the announcement is silent upon the date you have to buy to retain your current seat.
  4. There were two teams out there, forget the crap referee, and one wanted to win and the other was scared of losing. Our midfield players were poor first half because our shape was poor. I was disappointed that Shez waited until half time to change formation. I was disappointed that we settled for a draw when clearly Bury still wanted to win. We could have scored but Bury should have scored. A draw on Tuesday will not be enough. A loss and it will be an uncomfortable run in. That game has knocked my confidence I hope it doesn't have the same effect on our players.
  5. Having looked again at our fixture list this does have the feeling of a must win. After today we face 9 of the top 13 clubs. On the bright side this is our last 6 pointer but on the dull we only have today to change the fortunes of the clubs we are scrapping with. We need to keep the top six form going.
  6. We give away the home advantage when swapping ends because our supporters will make more noise when sitting/standing in their usual place and despite what has been said on here the acoustics of the JFS are better than the Chaddy. Our supporters will also be somewhat disgruntled by the move which will make things quieter.
  7. If they are concerned about behaviour why have they swapped ends so we have to walk through the away fans behind the JFS. That extra money will partly go in a bigger policing bill.
  8. Agreed. Although losing would not be the last throw of the dice it will be the first backward step since Shez took over. Handing our home advantage to Sheffield and Bolton makes two difficult games almost impossible and although I think we can beat anyone in the division we can't beat everyone. So not a must win but certainly a not lose. However if we lose than next Tuesday we would have to beat Oxford because otherwise momentum will be lost and that could signal the end.
  9. We all like to sit where we usually sit with the people we usually sit with. Wheelchair users should have parking close to the stand they sit in rather than be faced with an obstacle corse. JFS has the best facilities for wheel chair users. We need an area designated as a family stand. Not just so families can sit together but because it is a safer environment as it can cater for our youngest supporters. JFS has an area which we can use for this. The home end should remain the home end. JFS gets my vote.
  10. Having spent most of my time watching Latics from the paddock in front of the Ford Stand I was pleased to be able to return to that side of the ground in the unfinished North Stand. 'They' have even ensured I get the same match experience because the roof doesn't keep the rain off you even half way up. The JFS is the best stand in many ways but eyesight restrictions keep me on the side rather than behind the goals. Moving fans from the Chaddy largely against their wishes did make sense. JFS the home end. The home end is usually where most of the noise comes from so the games against Sheffield and Bolton will be dominated by the away supporters. Changing ends is a bad idea and might just be the reason why some supporters decide to follow the many that have already voted with their feet. Shez has said our support is important to him and to the team. Unfortunately short term money is the only important factor in this decision. We can beat any team in this division but the powers that be have just made it harder for these games. So we now need 3 wins and two draws from 8 games. Not looking so good anymore is it?
  11. Croft will be lucky to play again. Wilson we will miss. Onwards to next Saturday and Bury.
  12. Have to be confident based simply on our current form (17 from last 10 games) and the strange fact that we can get a result against any of the teams in the division. There are no must wins but it now looks like 50 points will be needed so 2 draws, 4 wins from 12. Could go to the last two games which will add some spice to my trip to Kingsmeadow.
  13. I sit here looking out over a newly drained cricket outfield which has surface water. Either the money spent on the drains was a waste of time or the weather is somewhat unusual. I think it is a bit of both with the water table higher than usual - lots of places I walk my dogs are wetter and muddier than I can remember. I also walk past our bowling green every morning and since that was deep hollow tined last year have not seen any surface water unlike last summer. The bowling green however doesn't have anybody walking on it. My conclusion is that the work which was done last summer on the pitch was a failure and things are worse than they otherwise would be because of the wet weather. The next two weeks are cold and wet so the pitch will not recover before the Bury game. Ground staff are up against it.
  14. I thought Obadeyi was substituted because he is either unable or, more likely, unwilling to pass the ball when approaching the penalty area. Chris Taylor did some excellent work and gave the ball to Obadeyi who then instead of passing it back with Taylor through on goal kept it and lost it. I also thought Ngoo gave another cameo which proves he is not simply a lump but a decent player who is hard to handle and who will score for us if he is on the pitch long enough. It was a cracking performance by our lads with a little help from Millwall who until the last 15 were clearly set on two banks of four and not conceding which blunted their attacking threat - rather strange against a team scrapping for survival. Could be they were worried about injuries on our mud patch. What can you say about the last five minutes. Yes we have Connor Ripley a goal keeper and a game that will live in our memories.
  15. Watching the Sutton game on that lovely plastic somebody said something like the quality of teams has improved across the divisions. Now what I think they might have meant is that the quality of defending has improved across the divisions when the lower teams are motivated by the idea of getting a scalp. This was the Robinson way which, because our team was not sufficiently motivated every league 1 game, leads to boring possession/defensive crap. Fortunately we now play the Shez way which means trying to win rather than trying to avoid defeat. So yes we have seen a great deal of crap because teams try not to make mistakes rather than taking a risk in order to score. Teams are probably better organised but worse as a result for us spectators. Bring back the Royle 4 2 4!
  16. What matters is the number of games he has played since Robinson left which is few. He is a great option for some free kicks however he is not one of our most mobile players and this will always limit his chances.
  17. Without the lows you don't get the highs but do we really need to go so low? How would we feel if the team had just bumped along in 18th position? Slightly nervous and somewhat resigned whereas now I feel rather good. Trouble is on the way we have lost a few more supporters who can't take the lows. I also think we are likely to make a break from tradition and go to AFC Wimbledon with the possibility of finishing in the top half. Dizzy heights.
  18. A wonderful win with an entertaining cameo from Ngoo. He is different but has now caused chaos in two defences. The smile he gave us as we shouted his name when he came on was a peach.
  19. Charlton are a team with pace. Missed their chance but Taylor (yes Taylor) made ours and Banks hits a superb shot (no time to think) 1 0. We carried on but eventually and correctly sat back to nullify their pace which the result proves was the right thing to do. My only gripe for the night was how poor I felt Erwin was up front all on his lonesome. He seemed to be lost and somewhat unhappy - possibly understandable given the continuous arm and shirt holding which was only rewarded with one free kick. However he has to rise above this and put himself about as he is here for the rest of the season. He lacks both pace and the ability to run through defences and should have crossed the ball twice for easy one on ones - I don't think he choose not to he just wears blinkers and is all for himself. Now compare and contrast with Ngoo who wants to be here, out fought the defence, held up the ball, passed the ball and unfortunately blazed over the bar when he should have scored. A fit Ngoo on that performance would start. Ngoooooooooo!
  20. I found Ngoo most entertaining. We had a number of players who slipped but he outdid them all possibly due to a high centre of gravity. He did however play a part in the McLaughlin goal by pulling some of their players away with his run and great decoy stumble. Seriously for whatever reason their defending took a nose dive after he came on the field of play and he must get some credit for that.
  21. What you see, if you look, is a player who is not match fit but who knows where he should be and when it is wise to expend energy. People round me were shouting for him to run forward out of position over and again when thankfully he kept in the shape/correct position of/for the team. I remember a cracking shot and two great crosses plus a nearly when the one two he started was fluffed by McLaughlin who otherwise would have put him on the edge of the box for the undoubted shooting ability he has. If this was a quiet performance the opposition is in for a torrid time when he gets noisy. Get a life you owtb (main stand?) moaners.
  22. Well my favourite score of 3 2. Great entertainment 2nd half. First half went wrong when they equalised so quickly and easily and our midfield fell apart. Even adding Green into the mix made no difference and we just made it to half time without going behind against a side that folds under pressure but can play if you stand off them. Enjoyed the second half - we were much better as Hunt and O'Neill showed how good they can be. The cameo from Ngoo was the most entertaining bit. I suspect the adrenaline running through him wore him out but he did make a difference. 7 games FOUR wins and now 20th. This is what you get when a team is sent out to win rather than being told not to lose. I despair at the negativity and criticism of our players. I didn't understand why Green came on but Lord John was right again as the result proves.
  23. As I understand it Brass Bank own the land but Brass Bank Ltd built the White Elephant. The notes read as if the rent for the White Elephant ie the building, not yet paid, is now £100k pa. So do we also pay rent for the other three stands and the surrounding land? The losses made by OAFC to 2010 do not necessarily equate to funds provided to the football club by Brass Bank but if we take the figures as represented Brass Bank has spent £21.9m and has agreed to receiving only a further, I say further because the other land deals and rental income eg NHS car parking will have produced receipts, £4m. Does not seem unreasonable from their point of view but a new owner gets nothing for this. Financial Fair Play allows an owner to subsidise the costs of the football team but only if the funds injected are not treated as debt. If SC is putting £1.3m a year in then I bow to him but I'm sorry to say I find this rather difficult... Would like to examine all the accounts over the period. I'm grateful for the work done so far but the picture is of OAFC as a bottomless pit with little detail of outgoings or returns to TTA. I suppose I will only believe if I volunteer to attend the next meeting so here goes.
  24. I blame Reckford sic as he was in acres of space and didn't need a shout - he should be aware of what goes on around him. I think their second goal was offside because Clarke was behind the goal line when the ball was played forward but can see why the Assistant didn't get it right with Wilson also charging in.
  25. I suspect what we have is the team that has to keep us up. Nobody can seriously say we should have won that game. Bradford a much better side who were restricted to two goals from set pieces. The first was clever as the corner kick went to where our midfield should do the marking - the goal no surprise (Reckford sic being on the park surprised me and his lack of awareness was well rewarded). The second I felt the result of pressure and clearly our players thought there was an offside. It was good to watch as the intent was to go forward and try to win the game. I would drop Banks because there is something wrong in his head when you blatantly dive outside the area rather than shooting - Wilson scored because he took a shot with his left foot. Enjoyed the game. Onwards....
