  1. Hoping to get there, but does anyone know if it's on iFollow?
  2. On another thread I posted that a boycott of the game would be my preferred choice of action, but next season is probably the time when that can be organised effectively if things continue as they are. However a protest in some clear form is a must. If nothing memorable and specific to Marco can be thought up, then something generic like tennis balls or red cards or similar needs to be done. I don't think we'll get a better chance of national coverage than this.
  3. In 7 games where he was (by his own admission, rightly or wrongly) building for the following season. In Scholes' time in charge I can pick out one positive (Jose Baxter's form) and one negative (the late goals which lost us points). That's it. It definitely doesn't constitute a successful time in charge but Scholes was not significant or relevant enough to be judged a failure either. His time in charge will go down as a small blip in the season. But people judging Wild and Scholes by the same standards are missing the point. Wild is working game-by-game because (as I'm sure he knows) there isn't any sort of long term strategy to make the club better from the people (person) above him. Scholes was under the impression that he was going to be able to enact a longer term reform in order to fix the club (which everyone knows it needs). It turns out that he was naive to think this but I'm glad for the club's sake that he did take the job on before realising that it wasn't going to happen. The thing that really pisses me off is that any half decent owner would have milked Scholes' reputation in the game for all that it was worth, regardless of his managerial ability. If it was obvious that he didn't possess the required traits after a summer to build the club/team as he wished then so be it, we get rid, the Scholes experiment would have failed and the club would move on. Marco didn't even give Scholes a fair opportunity to be a failure due to the restrictions which is why, annoyingly, the blip is still being discussed now.
  4. That's laughable. We're on our third different manager this season. If it gets to that stage and we still need to change the manager after that, then it's pretty certain that the manager isn't the problem. FWIW I'm amazed just how well Wild is doing under what is now notoriously difficult circumstances. I guarantee that any other manager who could make us successful wouldn't have the slightest bit of interest in taking the job on. If Wild isn't in charge then we'll be forced to settle for shit managers until Marco goes.
  5. I'd say there's 8 teams still fighting for 2 playoff spots (assuming that Tranmere don't have a massive downturn in form). Of the teams outside the playoffs Swindon probably have the best run in of the lot after playing us, as all the teams they play are bottom half and only Notts on the final day have anything to play for. So a win tomorrow for us would be massive. We've got a difficult run in, but the big carrot for us is that if we keep our good form going against top half teams to get us into the playoffs, then our form will be an advantage over the other three teams that we face.
  6. https://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/news/2019/april/05042019-mansfield-home-ticket-offer/?fbclid=IwAR1XomQN61aT6ja5prC_DNhXSE6l792LoTiGmQcia0w_TaHcQOvQQiYtb9M Easy for me to say being far away I know, but there should definitely be a fans boycott of the match.
  7. Let's be honest, neither does Wild. Lemsagam's clearly the brains of the whole operation and he's the one who's made us successful. I agree kowenicki, we're a much better club with Lemsagam and without Scholes.
  8. I agree, we'll do well to keep hold of Chris... Seriously though, I never even considered it a possibility that we'll have Lang with us next season. It's just nice to see a young player with potential stay with us for a year and develop into a talented player while with us. I worry for our prospects for next season and I don't think we'll keep anyone who has any value. Nothing against Wild but I can see the mess at the club putting off a lot of players from staying/coming here.
  9. The best thing about the current XI is that it isn't really spectacular, but it's a functional unit. That's usually enough to do well at this level, add to that the quality that Lang provides and these kind of results happen. Really happy to see Lang developing into a very good striker and credit to O'Grady for making it easier for him to perform. Well done Pete Wild (and/or the Lemsagams I guess) for the last two results.
  10. No problem with the same XI that's just won 2-0. Tranmere will go into it as favourites but they're more likely to grind a win out against us than play us off the park. The XI from Saturday will match up well against them and I wouldn't be surprised if we get a point or three.
  11. The Lemsagams will go for: Iversen Hamer Clarke Edmundson Nepomuceno Dearnley Maouche Missilou Branger Vera Lang Between now and the end of the season (and maybe beyond) will be a farce. I'm just hoping that it's an entertaining farce on the pitch.
  12. I think he's done well enough to get a League One loan move next season, can see him improving again. No way he'll come back to us.
  13. Just read this back. It scares me to think about what our squad is going to be like next season. Although it probably will be bordering on irrelevant compared to other likely issues at the club.
  14. For tomorrow, something simple and easily manageable by a lot of fans is the way to go. Scarfs on the pitch and/or a walkout should be doable. Then we can prepare for something bigger. Mansfield seems the obvious opportunity.
  15. I couldn't care less who the next manager is, good or bad. It's about getting the Lemsagams out of here and trying to secure our club's future.
  16. I think it's contractual i.e. if he plays one more game we have to give him a new deal. He's disappointed and isn't worth keeping on next season, but he's an option if we really needed him. My opinion though is that we brought in Iacovitti for a reason and now would be the best time to give him minutes when Hunt isn't doing very well.
  17. Hunt at right back is a good player at this level in my opinion, at left back he's average at best. As we've got plenty of left footed players who can play left back I'd rather play them, and Hamer is a better option at right back with the potential to play higher.
  18. I watched them at Exeter a week and a half ago. They played 4-4-2 then (although they played a 4-5-1 on Tuesday) and were pretty traditional in the way they set up. 2 physical centre backs, 2 steady full backs, a strong centre mid in McCullough and a savvy one in Perkins, 2 out-and-out wingers and 2 athletic forwards. Their players aren't as talented as Bury and they aren't as "professional" as Lincoln, but they're well organised and have threats in the right areas. I'd say that we should stick with 4-2-3-1 for the game: Iversen Hamer Clarke Edmundson Iacovitti Missilou Sylla Dearnley Maouche Nepomuceno Lang Not ideal having Maouche in the Baxter role, but there's no point putting O'Grady and Vera up against centre backs that are going to overpower them. If Maouche finds the gaps between their defence and midfield and Lang drags their centre backs out of position, we might get some joy.
  19. Stott, Hunt, Gardner and Dearnley are in the take it or leave it bracket. Other than that I agree. Don't see either Iversen or Lang staying but the rest could usefully fit in to a promotion winning squad.
  20. Scholes has no excuses for what's needed next season after tonight. Lincoln knew every trick in the book and we looked very naive. I respect the way that the Cowley brothers are shrewd in the way they manage but their "style" will only take them so far unless they adapt. Baxter's challenge was silly but it was a yellow (Hamer got booked later on for a similar challenge later on), the reaction of the Lincoln players made it a red which is infuriating to watch. As for us, it's poor on Scholes' part that we seemed pretty aimless going forward as a team. That was a game in which talent wasn't enough (even if we had it), we needed to have a clear and smart attacking strategy to break them down. It wasn't evident. Iverson - probably MotM for the saves as the match went on. Thought he could've done better with the first goal but he was let down by his defence. Back 4 - none particularly great individually, as a unit they had a difficult challenge but didn't really deal with it very well. Hunt was poor and while I think overall he's a decent full back, I'd rather have Hamer at right back and either Nepo or Iacovitti (left footers) at left back. I'd have no problem if he leaves in the summer. Missilou - battled but pretty average. Maouche - out-battled. Not the game for him. He has his uses but his contract next season would have to be right for us for him to be worth it. Lang - ineffective but I feel for him as he got no protection from the ref and not much support from his teammates. Glad he didn't get sent off ahead of Saturday. Baxter - OK when on the pitch, but asked for trouble with the red card challenge. We'll miss him for the next 3 games. Nepo - pretty anonymous. Dapo - battled and hope he's OK. Pretty ineffective though. Dearnley - tried to make things happen but fighting a losing battle. O'Grady - appreciate the role he played earlier in the season, but not a fit for this team and looks a bit past it. Expect to see him released in May. Vera - sadly he just seems shit. The rest of the season is up against mostly top half teams, I hope Scholes finds ways to beat these teams before next season.
  21. This game is a very good test for Scholes as a manager. If he can set us up to deal with Lincoln's shithousery then I'll be more confident about how we'll deal with the league next season. From what I've seen so far I think Scholes will try to get us to outplay most teams, but we need to be able to battle in some of the matches too.
