  1. I am not sure who this is addressed to but if it is me I am am up to nothing more than remarking on a great achievement by an ex Latic and thought it would make a nice change from more Ched chat. I am from OASIS land in Tring near Bucks and have been a Latics fan since 1978
  2. Thanks Blue I forgot the big fella was down there now and well done him -perhaps they were all assists from our Korean friend!
  3. I see a certain Smith scored all 4 goals in Bristol,s win last night. Can this really be the goal a season ex Latic?
  4. I hope you feel better soon and look forward to your posts when the blues start their next run.
  5. It is good to see a lot of balanced views on the thread. the above message sums it all up- if we lose end of.. we are " rubbish clueless, gutless etc." I heard the whole game on LP and what i heard and stats backed the view that we had them on the back foot all game and suffered some unlucky decisions. But were also not able to take on our chances But there sounded a lot of positives to take JW sounded like he had recovered form, ditto Elikobi, and Chubs back again sounded surer and generally gave the feeling of less scares at the back. Let us take this result in isolation rather than part of a poor run and it sounded like a recovery was underway in all but the score and remember Crewe had just beaten Bristol City and no game in L1 is a forgone conclusion, 35 mins with 10 men and a tad of luck is not an eternity to hold on. Stick with LJ and he will see us back on track. Come on you blues!
  6. Merry Christmas everyone and fingers crossed for a new run to start on Boxing Day. Brilliant card Diego- from the glory days and blimey weren't the shorts short back in the day!
  7. Well made points Andy and I agree patience is needed and it is good that quite a few seem to realise this and hopefully Lee will have learned the hard way a few lessons from the past 2 weeks. I recall well some of those long drought periods that you mention in the history especially that 85/86 period
  8. I agree fully with the last para- the only variation I would add is to invite players to respond anonymously and that way any feed back against his input and tactics can be fed back with out without fear of being shunned for stating opinions. What I just cannot get to grips with is how a team that was doing so well and being praised for character and unity can suddenly make such a complete turn around. Something deeper than tactics, Paddy Kenny, Kelly missing, must be wrong and if that can be found out then only can the ship be steadied.
  9. I agree with that! I will be there around midday Saturday and son Mark will also join us there and at present we are planning the evening session too. Hoping we will see a good reaction from players and manager after the woeful showing on Saturday. I guess most know that Camra Card carriers get a 50p per pint discount- this is really built in to pricing which is all North of £4 per pint. http://www.camra.org.uk/join stiil time to join! and with £20 of W-spoons vouchers included in the £23 and discount on Saturday it will have paid for itself. Looking forward big time.
  10. I think this will be an interesting game and has all the hallmarks of Gills, Crawley & Doncaster and am sure GJ will adopt identical tactics and so i think the defeating of such teams and tactics will be vital to how we finish this year. For me there needs to be both width and variety and decisive 1st touches in around the box. I definitely think Dieng and Kusunga should be in the line up somewhere. Let us hope we have moved on from the frustrations of those 3 games above..
  11. I think that is the least he deserves he tried his heart out for us and has nothing but affection for his time here-"I have fantastic memories of my time there. My last game at home was the FA Cup win over Liverpool. "There's no expectation on you and nine times out of 10 you will get beat but you just hope that day will be the one. It was a fantastic occasion and it's my best achievement as a manager so far." Without going into the rights or wrongs we got adverse publicity for the scenes at Rochdale and generous applause for Dickov would be a good way of showing the many great things about OAFC- Then lets us give the Donnies a good beating on the pitch! We love you Oldham
  12. No they have a break til 22nd Dec- cant wait til Don's day- I guess it will be yours and many others 1st viewing of Magic Johnson and sure he wont disappoint!
  13. I will be along for this- my local game only 17 miles from home!- along with son Mark- (the poker expert and player)- we are known to 24hrs and Mark. It is a shame that MK and Bletchley have such crap pubs- i have never seen so many scores under 3 on "beer in the evening" but aim to get to the Enigma around 1.00 p.m. Hope we can get a result thisyear- really disappointed last year that we threw away our chance. Hoping for advancement in the cup and for LJ to put one over on Dad prior to this.
  14. Absolutely right. He has a whole lot of qualities- probably the biggest is inspiring confidence in the 4 in front which he plainly does. He distributes the ball very carefully and has created many impressive counter attacks. His inclusion in place of what i thought was a disastrous Oxley- mistakes in every game i saw co-incided with long unbeaten runs both last year and this. The main problem is that a goalies mistakes cost goals, others can always blame someone else. e.g the Crawley game - no way he was solely to blame! Stick with Chubs and get off his back please. The team needs stability and support for all- at Bramall Lane it was a total team contribution.
  15. He looks a dead ringer for a younger LJ! I hope he can contribute as much! I am sure he has been given good reports by Conor. Good luck to him
  16. Fantastic- I just cant get enough, I just cant get enough,I just cant get enough of super Johnson- only sorry i cant get to another game til MK Dons- he is worth watching every game.
  17. Yes Agreed - 2 games and he has done brilliantly for most of both of them- sheer class that goal last week and as above the assist was equally fantastic- He is the sort of player that you just love to see perform- really hope we can get him for a lot longer than 5th January
  18. I hope we can get Conor back, what i saw of him I thought he showed great promise, he also appeared to really enjoy playing for Latics and reckon he can do well for us/
  19. I am coming up by coach from Milton Keynes what time are you likely to arrive? as i would love to get to the Kelham Island tavern
  20. Another Andy here thanks to all for the feedback on the pubs- think I will probably get the coach- match ticket arrived today- There is a great post as always from Diego on the terraces and suddenly spoiled for choice- Only Tues evening and already massively excited. Hope to join ltos of you before during and after.
  21. I have got my match ticket and thinking of getting the coach from Milton Keynes as a cost saving from tring and saves going into London to go out again. So 2 questions please 1.How many are on the London train? 2. Most importantly what are the drinking venues for Sheffield?
  22. I think a very good summary of all players- I thought the new Johnson was brilliant in parts- his goal was genuine class- and he did something similar a few minutes before. Although it was a disappointing result I think we need to make minor changes to turn things round- it is daft to here all this "we are garbage" talk. I would like to see more variety in free kicks- I don't expect Jones wonder goal against Leyton Orient to work every week and a variety of options would bring better results. I also thought we became too one dimensional with too many crossfield/back passes ending in poor final delievery. The Forte issue is interesting after hearing LJ's post match interview - sounds like he must have balled out Forte who clearly did not agree. Even if this was not a comfortable role he just looked Lacklustre for me- e.g 1 time late in the 1st half he picked up the ball deep in the area and did not look interested in getting more than a corner. Had it not been for the tragi/comic gift of a goal to Crawley we would have been talking of a gutsy ground out win. I believe we will move on from a bad at the park and show improved performances over the coming weeks and hopefully see either Locky or Big George taking over the reins in defence again. Come on Oldham One Team etc OWTB...
