  1. Ha Ha You have rumbled me Harry and by the way you got me in a right mess with Newport County by sticking that photo on here when i was tapping Shez. Please be more careful!

  3. A typically honest report from Dean- a very decent bloke who certainly gives it his all and I hope he gets fixed up soon. It did not work out for him at Latics and for me he was too defensively orientated but he took on a difficult job at an arkward time and was beset by a lot of injuries. He kept us up however and I am thankful to him for that. He also shows a lot of dignity in his article and no blame or malice
  4. Thank you - A bit cryptic? No I am not on the e-mail list- afgray48@gmail.com. Happy to hunt out Bury Black Puddings for you however. Hope you are keeping well and hope we can meet up again soon.
  5. I will be in Manchester next Friday evening- Manchester Beer Festival if anyone is interested? Then to BP for the Bury game- Shez's 1st home game of of the current reign and hopefully with a new signing or 2 . Wonderd if any other exiles are going up for the game
  6. And good to hear him say "we have got some good players here" an inclusive and team approach a mile apart from the dearly departed who was always talking about gettting better players. I think we now have a better manager and that it will make a big difference!
  7. Absolutely agree with the above and many previous posts. It will be all about positivity all round.
  8. If it really is, and every time we have had an 11th hour shock to date! then I hope he can repeat what he did at BP previously and the good work he has done recently at Newport. I have to admit I am always nervous about managers going back as it so often is totally different- I hope I am wrong and athink the appointment will give the whole club a lift. Come on Oldham! Come on Shez
  9. We could get stuffed if we dont improve BUT Goalkeeper crisis- Coleman would be fine Defensive changes yet again - If we have the Burnley pair as backs and B Wilson and Dieng then we would not be badly off No new CB- Hopefull chamnge of keeper and the above back 4 would negate that Possibly no Wellens- He has been released from his Doncaster Contract so I guess if he wants to stay he is free Top scorer missing- If it is Philli he only shows up in fits and starts- Murhpy is the form man Kelly,Murphy and Yeates futures unclear- Agreed but that is always the way in january in lower leagues for most teams apaprt from the pace setters. The worst thing would be a defeat by an odd goal or a losing draw- late away equaliser- a bad defeat would surely mean the axe for Dunn- My prefferred option would be an attacking performance and a win by 2 goals. keep the faith
  10. Ha Ha Yes I had not thought of that - but agree there are many who could do better!
  11. If we show up against Millwall and play Yeates and drop Cornell then I probally will as it would be a first trip to Bradford for me.
  12. Hello BP I know you certainly saw a lot more of him than I did, seeing only Southern fixtures at the time, and I guees 137 appearances in 4 years is testamnet to some quality. I wish we had someone who commanded the area nowadays Happy New Year to you btw
  13. Blimey I remember him performing every comic trick in the book- I recall one dash out a wild hack at the ball- missed by a mile and landed flat on his arse. In every game I saw him he looked a liability
  14. Merry Christmas to al Latics fans and may our tolerance and good spririt remain way after 4.50 tommorow. Come on you Blues!
  15. He may be but public statements like this are hardly likely to encourage players. He has made plenty of mistakes in selection and tactics and then blames it on others- I will give the guy a chance to correct things but not impressed so far- like always hoping the next game will see the start of something better.
  16. Hi Chaps I am coming from Milton Keynes and think out train is asimilar time I will be there with son Mark and we will start off at the Old Windmill Spon Street , Coventry, around Midday, it is a a short distance from Coventry station and then amke our way to the groiund to arrive at the ground Bar around 2.15. I look forward to seeing Latics friends again and always hoping for the best.
  17. I will be going for my 5th game- 4 defeat and a draw v Wigan so far, omens not good and coincides with week-end last year and a visit to MK Dons- best forgotten! Anyway I will be there with son Mark and we will start off at the Old Windmill Spon Street , Coventry, around Midday, it is a a short distance from Coventry station and then amke our way to the groiund to arrive at the ground Bar around 2.15. I look forward to seeing Latics friends again and always hoping for the best.
  18. This has all the same ingredients as 2014 away to one of the top 3 on a poor run and hoping the end result will be an improvement. In any event I am up for this one - I will be joining the train at MK and will be aiming to be in Coventry at 12.02 - There are some good pubs in the City Centre and I am planing taking in a couple of these before setting off for the Ricoh. I was at Crewe last week-end and only had the stomach to watch the highlights today! hopefully we are at a low point now and things will improve
  19. I am struggling to understand what that bloke thought he was achieving by his actions.
  20. I am also pleased we are keeping him for longer but wish it was all season. As above he gets lots of good deliveries in to the box- the big difference to Dayton is that Yeates wants the ball and I always felt Dayton was a "hider". I would like to see him given licence to switch wings during games - I felt on Saturday he was identified as our only supply chain and he was crowded out a bit with up to 3 men round him
  21. I always try to be positive but there are things about Dunn that concern me- I cannot accept that - "we have told them all week about this that or the other" is good enough- he has to appoint specific people to take charge of situations and make sure they do - as someone else has said it- he seems to always find someone else to blame. The tactics and selections are often wrong . We cannot undo what has gone before but an urgent rethink on approach and motivating the players needs to come in straight away. The usual post that the all the players are crap and dont care is undone by the fact that LJ had most of these playing to potential for a few months last year- ok we had Forte firing then but it is not all down to missed chances. I felt too depressed to listen to more than 10 mins on LP and i cant recall being so disillusioned in 37 years of following Latics
  22. You are right it makes a nightmare night even worse by a long way- very hard to swallow
  23. I am dlighted that he is now getting recognition from both posters on here and a special mention from DD in yesterdays Chron- “People in football at times get carried away with goals and assists but nobody really says anything about chances created. And he creates plenty, even though we may not score from them. “No matter how well or how poorly we are playing, he always wants the ball and it is a real big plus.” Whether Yeates stays or goes could depend on budgetary restraints, which will be affected by Athletic’s continued involvement in the knock-out competition." We need to keep him. When I have seen him I have noticed how he "takes responsibility" and willl try to get an end product rather than pass the buck. His name kept coming up continually in the LP commentary
  24. You cant help feeeling a bit sorry for what seemed a decent guy- perhaps a different occupation should be considered
