  1. Why was Clarke dropped then? Because we were paying out too much in winning bonuses? We need to build a solid team. We can't keep pissing about and swapping players every season. Gerrard was dropped for being unfit and worked his way back in, as commented by Wellens himself. Clarke can't work hard against being too old.
  2. And while not looking like Peter Crouch he wasn't in half as bad shape as he was when he came back from his injury Feb/March. It's ok looking like a hero playing centre half with a very good league 1 back line and Ripley saving all sorts but this season he has had a young centre half / midfielder next to him. A keeper who chucks most shots in the net and comes out quicker than Katie Price's milkers. Wilson and then the lad deemed so low down he was at AFC Fylde. Edmundson needs someone like Gerrard next to him next season. Clarke was not fit enough anymore to play in the side. Legs have gone, no amount of pre-season or slim fast will deny getting old. Not sure why people are obsessed with his weight as he was a far steadier performer than many of the shower of shite who played this season. His injuries for me were a key factor in us going down.
  3. Coventry bid £100k in Jan offered Davies £3500 a week. I'd say we will be a million miles away from them money wise.
  4. People want to keep Clarke who was so past his best we loaned him to a rival club? Bury dropped him didn't they? I dread to think what his legs will be like 12 months later. Gerrard's weight seems to grind people but we wouldn't get a centre half better IMO. Let's see how he goes after a full preseason. A goalie who doesn't chuck in most shots on goal would help the back line.............
  5. He's a good leader and would be comfortably one of the best centre halves in that division. If we want to go back up we cannot let everyone go who is on decent money. Get rid of Clarke to keep Gerrard would seem a good deal.
  6. Back line of Hamer Emundson Gerrard Stott would a decent enough start with additions to come.
  7. He wasn't being allowed to train. He was getting a text at night informing him of the hour he had at the gym the next day. If you have played any level of sport you would understand you cannot be match fit without playing.
  8. Taylor was treated badly at Bolton. Hasn't been allowed to kick a ball all year. Literally. Club would not let him out on loan. Offered to pay him off on deadline week, night of the deadline day they halved the offer and he rightly refused. Original offer he agreed wasn't near the full amount in the first place. He has been only allowed to train, on his own, for an hour a day in the gym. That is for basically the whole of the season. He loves Latics and is gutted he wasn't fully fit when he came. I would have him back compared to some of the mercenary wankers we have had this season. Blackpool will be hard to turn down given he likes the manager.
  9. Mr Bowyer a very big fan of Chris Taylor. Kit may clash with his hair mind. I agree with a few others, wanted him gone with 3 games to go but now we are a bit calmer back Wellens as he knows the owner and how he operates.
  10. Wellens knows he is going. Wellens has an interview for another job. Wellens tipped off............................
  11. Does it mention Wellens having an interview for another job this week?
  12. Having endured the last three home games I am not going tomorrow. For £5 I may but I feel like many the ship has sailed.
  13. Moimbe needs to come back in. Don't care that he has cost us, he is the best full back we have. Adds attacking intent out wide. Hunt at right back. Edmundson hopefully with Gerrard. I've no faith that Wellens will play with width, we have needed that for a month and he has ignored it. It's going to cost him his job.
  14. My worry is the new owner doesn't fancy owing a club in the 4th division and pulls out. He has no ties around the ground etc. I presume he can just up and leave. Byrne is our player. We either get a very good fee or build the team around him.
  15. For me tomorrow 433 Davies Doyle Nazon Byrne Gardner Fane Moimbe - Gerrard Edmundson Hunt Placide Get Davies and Nazon starting wide coming in.
  16. Potentially fucking the area up for the rest of the season. I hope it hasn't as we may have issues with other games. A few hundred quid on heaters would have saved a lot of money.
  17. Boiling water kills grass. That was the groundsmans idea. The groundsman would not be responsible for sanctioning the hiring of such equipment. Responsibility for not doing that sits with those above. We'll be more out of pocket not getting the game on.
  18. I am certain the cost of hiring some heaters would be less than the cost of cancellation. Food, staff, lower gate for rearranged game and no doubt expenses back to Southend. Poor. Boiling water on the pitch shows the level of staff we have employed. Still not gotten over seeing the groundsman pour sand all over the middle of the pitch pre Millwall getting called off a few years back. Killed that area for the season.
  19. The steam was coming off the little girlnand her granddad so it was a tad warmer than you'd like. The owner is fucking coward if they didn't do anything about it. As is anyone who saw who it was.
  20. Some absolute tools in that away end yesterday. Embarrassing some of that shite at the front and never seen anything like fellow latics fans lobbing a full flask of boiling drink (which smashed on some old fella) at their own fans.
  21. Has to be Richards. Not sure anyone else compares career wise from the last 30 years.
