    On a similar note, I always think that the way the pitch at Old Trafford falls away at the ends is unnecessarily risky. A player going full pelt down there could get badly injured.

    When the song came out originally I wasn’t impressed by it, but once we adopted it it became indelibly associated with home games for me. To this day when I hear it I’m transported back to Boundary Park in the 70s !

    He was vastly overrated by some. Just because his successors have been mainly poor, does not make Lee Johnson a good coach.

    Yes, but in Tricky Ricky’s day there were no smart phones and no social media. Assuming it’s Reid’s first offence (with us) then I’d be happy to see him fined and back in the fold, on the understanding that if he commits another then he’s out. But if Mellon does freeze him out, Reid only has himself to blame.

    Having seen the video, I wouldn’t personally get too wound up by it. It could just be traditional bleak humour, and not meant to be taken seriously. Why on earth anyone would want to film that, let alone go public with it, is another matter. I know we all joke about footballers’ IQs, but dear me!

    True, but not quite what you said. I would need to see which of our players he has seen, and how often, to substantiate your claim. Meanwhile, Mellon has been in charge for how many league games? That’s a general question, not aimed specifically at you. Do people expect him to produce miracles with the Unsworth/Thompson/Royle legacy? How many seasons did Ferguson get at United before he started winning trophies?

    5 permitted subs is a joke, and gives an advantage to clubs with stronger squads. Disruptive as @Dave_Ogsays. It was bad enough going from 2 to 3.

    I agree with this. What you don’t say, but must be a contributory factor, is that in all probability your semi pro raised your collective level - it’s a team game, and he couldn’t have won the league by himself. It’s a pity that Norwood can’t have a similar influence when games aren’t going well. The rest of the team would surely learn from and benefit from a player of his skill and experience. We might even string a few wins together eventually!

    Guaranteed goals implies a goal (or more) per game. So not guaranteed.
