  1. To be fair Rooney seemed a good signing based on what we knew and his past record, and most on here were happy. You don't win NL player of the season twice if you are shit. Maybe he needs better players around him to thrive because he's been crap since his debut against Wrexham.
  2. But we haven't got the players to do that! What attacking set up would you have played yesterday with who we have available? You need a midfield and we haven't got one....
  3. I really can't see for the life of me what he brings to the team. Send him back to Bradford now....
  4. Gardiner is still our best midfielder when fit which is where we are I'm affriad. Threlkeld is slow, shit and defensive, Cooper similar and Tollit isn't a midfielder... Until they are binned and we replace at least 2 of the 3 this is what we can expect. I hoped Rooney may be be an improvement but bar his debut he's contributed jack shit
  5. Cooper, Threlkeld, Tollit is a shit midfield 3. Reckon we will got overrun
  6. Was never Wellens biggest fan when he took us down, but fair play to him he's doing a cracking job at Orient. They were in danger of relegation last season when he took over and they are pissing league 2 this year!
  7. BP he lost possession which is fine, but then jogged back not showing enough desire to win the ball back in phase 1, then failed to make a challenge or close down their 16 who banged it in the top corner in phase 2/3. He's good and progressive going forward which I like, but in this League you need to put a shift in defending from midfield which he doesn't do particularly effectively....not his strength unfortunately.
  8. Keepers not the problem. He's been steady for this level. Good keepers don't stay in the NL for long. Some people need to lower their expectations
  9. Look we have a dire squad who are just not good enough to compete in the top half of National League...it's that simple. As soon as everyone accepts this....however painful the less stressful their days will be. I've stopped off for a break on my way back down to London after watching that dross, so trust me I have more reason than most to be fucked off about tonight.... We need a massive player overhaul before things will improve and that's going to take time and some money. Unsworth who I'm not a huge fan of isn't Harry fucking Potter. He can't magic our lot in good footballers overnight....nobody can. Just look at some stats. We've not won away from home in 7 games in this crap division. We have not played any of the top 5 away yet (fucking happy days) and Woking and Bromley currently in 6th and 7th place both dicked us 3-0. We've scored the princely total of 2 away goals in 7 games Be in no doubt we are in a relegation scrap and it's going to get uglier before it gets better at some point....
  10. Spot on with the no passion, control or wanting to win. 90% of our passes go sideways or backwards and I can count on one hand the number if times one of our midfield players turned forward tonight and actually ran at the opo. We seem to be half a yard slower than whoever we play, and put very little pressure on the ball ever. I don't care what system he plays, most of our current squad are just not good footballers. I don't buy this our squad should be good enough to compete in this league. It's blatantly obvious by now we are not. Ask yourself how many of our current squad would get into Wrexham's or Notts Countys side and it all becomes clearer. We are nowhere fucking close and are in a relegation battle. Until we can ship the majority out and start again it won't get better so just back the team and hope we have enough to stay out of the bottom 4.
  11. Huge 15 days coming up for us I think with 3 tough away league games, Yeovil at home and tomorrow's FA Cup reply at Chester. It doesn't bare thinking about us being knocked out of the FACup before the first round, and starting November in the National League relegation zone, but reality is beginning to sink in that we are in the shit, we have shit players, and will need some time and some luck to get out of it.
  12. Very happy with this appointment and the pieces of the jigsaw seem to be coming together to allow us to begin some sustainable progress. A few more weeks I fear before we start to see any substantial improvement on the pitch, but this is Ok as long as we can keep some light between us and the bottom 4 over the next 6 or 7 games and nick a few results.
  13. As you know BP these are under 18s and not many make first team squads at any level, never mind in the Championship. Physicality is the main reason for this imo. Trust me I've been present at many academy training sessions over the past 12 months and from what I've seen players spend 75% of their time working on technical ability and team shape. It's the coaches that drive the work ethic and winning mentality so hopefully our new youth coach Louis Dean will enstill this into us. Clearly the old set up was poor. My guess is we saw who we were playing, took the game too easily, got a man sent off, and struggled from there. And btw ...they don't just run around
  14. All valid comments. However I speak on this topic from a personal perspective. My 16 year old plays for a National League academy club and they play their 3rd qualifying round next week against a lower ranked club. It's the biggest game of their season to date, and the biggest competition they will play in until they turn pro. Both the boys and coaches will be devastated if they fail to make the first round proper and are so well prepared and drilled for it it's scary. Perhaps that's the main issue throughout the club. As Unsworth has quoted we don't have a winning mentality and we need improve this across all levels at the club. We accept defeat too easily and seem to make up excuses for not winning? Individual development is important but it's greatly assisted by winning, and we need to understand why we are not winning games we should, and change it now. Hopefully the new structure will begin to address this. Obviously circumstances over the past few years have hindered success, but I went to watch our U18s last season at QPR in the 3rd round I think, they were magnificent and and only narrowly lost. Very sad that we don't even make the 3rd qualifying round this year that's all....
  15. FFS what's your point Dave? Should we or shouldn't we beating them?
  16. Agreed but that's not the point Dave...we SHOULD be beating them.
  17. Wardie this is step 8....level four of the national League pyramid. Our lads should be beating them 10 men or not.
