  1. Right enough of this slagging each other and Unsworth off for a few hours....let's get behind the lads and get a much needed result to avoid another piss boil!! KYF. Come on Latics! OWTB
  2. Aye but he didn't have Saint Frank bankrolling him, was working for a clown, and was playing in the EFL not the NL, so under the circumstances I think he actually did ok. I wonder how he'd do with this squad? My guess is better than Unsworth.
  3. I'm always pretty chilled out thanks...and thanks for your concern. You actually make some valid points but also some pretty tame/flakey ones. So just so we are clear, where would YOU be happy for us to be sitting points wise by the end of September? As you rightly say are still 2nd favourites to go up and expectation is high everywhere it seems...(13 games in and nearly 30% into the season)? I'd genuinely be interested to get your view on what you think would be a fair return. In the jobs I've had, as a sales director for some of the biggest global consumer electronic business', if I had the complete backing of the organisation, and I constantly achieved below their minimum expectation, plus I'd rubbed my team and our customers up the wrong way, with what seemed like a completely scattergun and flawed approach and a non approachable manner I'd be on very thin ice! I'd either have been asked to leave already or been told to present a revised plan, to hit specific short term targets and a longer term goal. Specifics are key in any performance management scenario, with regular benchmarking and review, and if things improve and turn around that's all everyone really wants. If it doesn't your usually gone! After 50 plus games under Unsworth I'd hope our board are taking a similar view.
  4. Do you really think that any football club doesn't have points targets and goals to achieve at various points throughout the season? Of course it matters how many points we have after a stated number of games. If your 15 points off the pace 15 games into.a season your highly unlikely to make up.the lost ground without a major change in something.
  5. I'd like to think so but we know Big Dave! Odds on we go 5,3,2 and sit in
  6. To be fair though he was one of our best performers 1H last season.....when he wasn't suspended or injured. At least he plays with positive intent. I'd at least like to see what he looks like playing again before we bin him.....
  7. Yep - another short term contract would work I think He's a bloody good player at our level if it's him.
  8. Firstly to be clear I'd get rid of Unsworth TODAY if I had a choice. But OK, so if we agree to give him a bit more time...10 games seems the number of games most are saying he should be judged on....So let's give him 10 more games which takes us to the end of September. So we are now 13 games in, what's an acceptable points total and league position? In 21/22 Stockport won the league with 94 points (average just over 2 points per game), and Chestefield finished 7th on 74 points (just over 1.6 points per game) I'd assume this seasons points requirement could be similar. So to win the league we should be on around 26 points mimimum To be in the top 7 we should be on around 21 points minimum Our Next 10 games are Chesterfield A Borham Wood A Solihull H Gateshead A Dorking H Bromley A York H Oxford City H Kidderminster A Wealdstone A We need 23 points from these to be around top spot (unlikely) We need 18 points from these to be around the top 7 (realistic?) Hopefully Frank and Co are thinking along the same lines, and if he falls short of the 18 point mark....which he will, then they have to pull the trigger, to give us a chance of getting the right man in to salvage the season. Personally I think under his leadership we will be lucky to get 14 points maximum, and to be sitting on 17 points from 13 games with the investment in the team, and players we will have is inexcusable. If we reach these targets then I'm happy to apologise, eat humble pie and let him crack on until Christmas as I want the same as everyone else....to get back into the EFL.
  9. If someone from fucking Colwyn Bay is "far too powerful" for him, are you recommending we get rid BP?
  10. Pretty much everything's improved Monty....appart from the teams performance when benchmarked against the investments made in players. I've been a supporter for over 45 years and been to around 1000 games, so I've seem more than most. I've reached the point that Unsworth and co have shown so few examples of progress on the pitch that it's time to look elsewhere for someone who can get more out of the squad than he can. I get it he's a rookie manager in his first job, but now the ship has steadied we need to push on and get back into the EFL, and Unsworth just won't get us there.
  11. So was Saturday with the same outfield 10 not 4 4 2 then? I thought you said it was and was miles better?? The modern game is about flexibility not rigidity, and Unsworth is about as flexible as the rocks on Pots and Pans! The fact is Halifax are a much better more organised team than Aldershot, who in my view will be relegated this year. We will get overun on Saturday whatever formation he plays as he's just a crap manager, and Ebrell a crap coach....end of.
  12. And for reference we had 7pts from our first 5 games last season with the likes of Clark, Burgess, McGahey, Threlkeld, Stobbs, Cooper and Angol stealing a living as footballers!
  13. It doesn't bare thinking about but by 5.15pm a week on Saturday we could very easily be P5 W1 D0 L4 with 3 points and in the bottom 4. I've got my Boreham Wood tickets and if this happens then the piss boil will be in full swing and rightly so. I really fucking hope not but the pressure is now well and truly on after only 3 bloody games
  14. Agree. Change it! We have Reid, Whilloughby, Gardner.....
  15. Hopefully it will be, but Aldershot seemed to set up with a lightweight midfield numbers wise, and were pretty brave in their formation which made it so much easier to pass forward with more time on the ball. Southend were much quicker and Chesterfield will also not be too sluggish I expect. Personally I'd like to see us have more of a go away from home as our away form has been shit for ages. Within 2 weeks we will have played 3 of the top 7 contenders away from home, so I hope we have at least 3 points from them as a minimum. Gonna need 90 points + if we have any chance of automatic promotion which means we need to win at least half our away games and pick up plenty of draws.
  16. Ref Ebrell, from what I have seen on the pitch over the past 12 months, and heard in his pressers, absolutely begs the question about his coaching ability. Give me Muzza any day of the week over him.
  17. Looks to me like they may have factored in pens into his odds. Think Il'l wait till we get one, see who is taking it and then log back on quick if it's Norwood before any odds changes. We only scored 6 last season but I'd expect us to score 10+ this, with more of a goal threat, so if Norwood does take them then 30+ for him is not out of the question if he stays fit
  18. I'd say if Nuttall is on the pitch Dave he will take them, but if not Norwood will. What odds you looking at?
  19. Enjoyable listen chaps as usual. Even thought Unsworth came across well in Dave's interview in the main I'd be interested to know your thoughts though about his comments on Southend, and him implying we were the better team early on and had 6 great chances I think v their 3 ( maybe I heard this wrong). We got mullered in the first 20 mins full stop. They could have been 3 or 4 up, and bar Norwoods chance early on we created nothing from my memory and hardly had the ball! If he can learn to cut out the shite from his interviews and just be honest....which he was apart from that comment, he will get more fans on side and we may actually get to like him!
  20. Brilliant response today and the new signings seem to be doing their stuff, but let's not get too carried away. Aldershot were 2nd favs for relegation behind Oxford City at the start of the.season and rightly so, so we should be dicking them at home. Chesterfield next week and Borham Wood away the week after will be a better barometer of where we are.
