I was not in favour of Kilkenny being made the offer to be the highest paid player. I prefer us signing players with somethimng to prove, and who are determined to grasp the opportunity given to them to take us up to the next level as team players, rather than individuals who think they're better than the others. Like we did with Ricketts? It's a difficult one this. Look what Bobby Johnstone did for us when he signed- more than 17000 turned up for his debut when our gates were about 4000 at the time. One other thing, it is sad - no matter what - to see a guy who once had obvious talent make a big mess of what could have been a good career. The often read Express & Star reports: "Striker leaves Walsall Striker Michael Ricketts has left Walsall after failing to agree a permanent deal to stay at the Banks’s Stadium. The striker has a long contract at Oldham and the only way that Walsall could sign him this season now would be if his contract at Boundary Park were terminated, at which point the player could join as a free agent. “From our point of view we want to see a fit Michael Ricketts before we take it any further,” Money said."
