Oldham Fans In The Cheadle End

Recommended Posts

You're playing with semantics now. Of course I condem it, just as I condem the goading of home fans after a goal (which is entirely different to forgetting where you are and celebrating I might add). To then turn around after the initial celebration with arms outstretched shouting "come on" and waving them on is enciting violence. I hope there are prosecutions on both sides. However, I suspect there won't be. Do you condem inciting violence by away fans in home fans areas ?

I thank you.

In answer to your question, I condem all violence. In my view it is totally unnecessary all round. The vast majority of us just want to enjoy a day/evening out watching our chosen team playing football, win lose or draw.

From where I was at virtually the other end of the ground, I could not see any "goading" so have to accept your word on that. However, it was unavoidable not to see the violence that followed and I trust from the statement on your clubs official site this morning that the culprits they claim to have identified include the relevant County "fans" and that the police will be prosecuting for ABH/GBH. Like you I doubt that prosecutions will follow, but for the good of the game and all genuine football fans, said prosecutions should follow. The Police can have no excuse.

I hope my answer is acceptable to you.

Cheers,

Harry

Because

1, The vast majority of Oldham fans would struggle to get to Stockport before the game to buy a ticket

2, They would have to provide evidence of who they were and therefore they would have been traceable to the seat

3, This is the way that issues are avoided in most local derbies

can you point me in the direction of the information which shows the vast majority of oldham fans in the home stands were not in possesion of a match ticket before the day of the game? i would hate to think you are using blind, incorrect guesswork again.

I am not going to lower myself to such a level that I feel I need to answer that question.

I think we're largely in agreement then.

thats because you are guessing, you should have learned from prior experince that diving in and making statements without checking them first usually leads to mistakes being made.

yes, the game may be all ticket in future. but you have absolutely no way of knowing that all of those involved in the incident did not buy their tickets on any day other than the one which the match took place.

There were certainly a number of Oldham fans who had tickets in advance. I know that for a fact.

Perhaps you would like to show me this other point to which you refer where I was "wrong"?

In tonight's rarely wrong Chron:

Violence flared after some Athletic fans bought tickets for the Cheadle End — a Stockport section of the ground — and began celebrating Andy Liddell’s opening goal mid-way through the first half.

Fighting ensued following the strike for Oldham and the referee was forced to halt the game for a couple of minutes as it spilled onto the edge of the pitch.

Police moved in to quell trouble and several blooded fans were escorted away by officers and stewards.

The Advertiser reports it thus:

Celebrations by some Oldham fans, who had bought tickets in the Cheadle End, provoked a furious reaction from home supporters.

The game was held up for several minutes while police and stewards attempted to distract the away fans, some of whom spilled onto the pitch to escape the fighting.

The word "distract" seems an odd one to use - I would have thought "extract" or"rescue" would have been more appropriate.

What were they doing, playing card tricks, or getting a lass with big norks to walk past or something?

when you had your big go at me ruining your day by breaking the law (standing up), even though i usually sit at the other end of the ground.

Please review the post and you will find that I am myself not affected by idiots standing up in front of my in the RRE - so it is YOU that is wrong.

I think that you will find that post was about opinions. You think people should move if they can't see, I believe that people should sit in their seat if they are blocking someone else's view.

Matter of Opinion, not fact

What really annoyed me was your bullying tone and unwillingness to consider anyone else's enjoyment of the game or right to sit in the seat they have paid for.

Imagine Andy Liddell, but uglier, less talented, greyer, with a worse sense of humour, less intelligent, and as likely as not a smaller dick.

That's me with a shiner next time then

Nobody is uglier than Liddell, he wishes he was as skillfull as me, your right i have a sick sense of humour, and as for the last thing....you wouldnt like it up your chocolate starfish

The question is could Andy Liddell do it wearing a mascot head?

I can guarentee you that he couldnt, but he is mor than welcome to attempt it ^_^

That was my highlight!!!

Incidentally why do they have two (obese) mascots, one of which looked like the ill relation of the other?

They used to have Vernon bear, but he had a reputation of being a useless fat lump who was miserable, so they replaced him with his "two kids", they look strange because there from Stockport....enough said

I'm told that's true.

Complete and utter s*ite mate, honest, I know the lad personally and whilst his 'ear' not 'ear's' was nibbled it was intact and still attached, sorry if that disappoints some of the Hans Christian Anderson type's on here and the other Latics forum but thats the facts, cheers.

no need to read it. you ranted why should i move, just cos you break law blah blah blah. i said no i dont, you looked silly so got personal saying i cant spell etcetera.

bullying? saying im not stupid enough to sit my kid behind people who stand up, then spend the game moaning about it whilst he continues to miss the game, is not bullying. saying unwillingness to move is petty and stupid (oooh this is MY seat) is not bullying. pointing out that, although standing is technically not allowed, sitting behind an area where people stand when there are hundreds of seats with the same view (minus someones back) is silly. again this is not bullying.
