A simple answer to a simple question from him would of sufficed... Tend to get to a fair few games, yes. Not sure how my superfanification status is of issue though. I think if you cant get in your own section then going in the other 'end' is acceptable if you really really want to see the game. Once there you keep your trap shut. If you leap up into the air and give it the big un when you score then you are a complete knob and cannot be surprised if someone hits you. Further to that...if you can easily get a ticket for your own section but chose to go in the other end AND give it the big un then you are 100% looking for a fight which you will probably get from your very own kind who support the opposition. No sympathy at all for any Leeds fan who got punched for celebrating, they're tits. All this 'how dare other football fans be treated this way' is wide of the mark - they were looking for it. The Latics fans who got beat up at Stockport werent looking for it but I'd say they're stupid and possibly arrogant to boot. If you dont like those harsh realities then rugger union or cricket are the sports for you. Unless they were doing it deliberately to get in a fight. In which case, they got what they came for and i dont see the big deal as long as there was noone innocent harmed. If they were 'just there to watch the game' then i'm sure they would have sat in one of the 1500 spare seats in the small section of the RRE. Fact is - there were almost 2,000 empty seats in their own end. I HAD to sit in the County end at Edgeley because there were no tickets left in the away end. It's two totally separate scenarios. Have you really just read this thread, been disgusted by it, and then got in touch with the club to vent your anger and report the 'incident'? Brilliant. What happens if and when they ask you for a statement? What you gonna say? "Er I can't do that Officer but I can send you a url..." Jeez wept. A few people on this thread were around the 'incident', seeing it for their own eyes, and have reported exactly what happened. You've ignored these, choosing to react to the 'there was 50 of em...massive they were...you think my 50 stitcher is bad, you should see the other guy' kind of posts. I admire your principle. Violence doesn't solve anything and we should be able to live in perfect harmony. But a Leeds fan giving it large, and believe me he was, in the Oldham end at a top of the table clash is not what I call harmony. Stewards asking him to leave and escorting him out did not put an end to it, he was hell bent on giving it more. I was peeved when I spotted a family that were clearly Leeds (the photo taking of the Leeds players warming up gave it away a bit) a couple of rows behind him but to be fair they kept themselves to themselves. But this muppet, along with his mate, made it quite clear on a few occasions throughout the game that they were Leeds...clapping to the Leeds chants, doing the scarf above head wave (with no scarf), and in the end excesive goal celebrating. OK my anger towards him cooled when I spotted a bit of spit flying his way (missing btw) but he deserved everything he got. And I say that safe in the knowledge that the only person who actually laid a finger on the guy was the steward. Apologies for ruining a great story. Like I say OS I admire your principle but I don't envy it. Put yourself in the Leeds end, excessively celebrate an Oldham goal and then just see if you're in any fit state to report it to the police outside the ground. If, by miracle, you can walk out yourself and make it to a police officer then you'll need luck, and lots of it, if you expect them to take you seriously. So, instead of losing sleep over hearsay, you should thank your lucky stars that the majority of Oldham fans are clearly a lot more welcoming and accomodating than the majority of Leeds (and Stockport) fans. I wonder how many people who think that someone getting a slap/kicking for being in the wrong end is to some degree acceptable would like to stand next to their kids or perhaps in some cases their grandparents and say "yep, that's ok in my opinion". Away fans in the wrong end causing a problem to you; Speak to a steward. If you wnat to fight with them and do it in front of people who do not wish to see that sort of thing (and it is against the law last time I checked) then you run the risk of the law. When Leeds beat us at OT in 2007 there were Saints 'fans' kicking off all over the place! Oh and me and the missus witnessed a cracking punch-up between RL 'fans' outside of Yates' prior to last season's Grand Final, add alcohol to highly charged game and no matter what the sport is trouble will ensue imo, it's just footie is the sport of choice innit? Spoke to a few Saints fans at work today and they said that historically they always have trouble when they play Hull, hence the high profile Police presence on Friday night. Explains a lot, we left right on the hooter to avoid any traffic so did not see any sort of bother. Just thought the police presence was excessive. Now wind yer neck in i was sat in the upper main stand and the incident was 2 rows in front of us, after leeds had scored their goal the so-called fan jumped up to celebrate and telling oldham fans to :censored: off, he new what he was doing and being oldham supporter all my life i wanted him out just like the others around him. we give him a few pushes and slaps but the stewards was in there within minutes of it happening.
