Only about 8 of them Tossers Crap film dont watch it. Ha ha. Cheers, you just saved me a few quid! For the record I went to see The Firm a few weeks ago. If you saw the original with Gary Oldman (also Phil Mitchell and Jim Macdonald), the new one aint much better............. better sound track for the lads who were around in the mid eighties, and the Fila and Tachini gear is phenomonal bringing memories of old school discos. However all in all a dissappointing film.

It has it's flaws but it was good to see them being faithful to the clothes and culture of the times. Attention to detail was pretty spot on, from the Forest Hills, Peter Storms and drainpipes to the grimy old British Rail livery on the trains. The faintly homoerotic sub-plot's a bit flimsy to say the least, but the soundtrack's one of the best ever. Magazine, (early) Ultravox, The Cure and Joy Division suit the bleak setting brilliantly. There's much, much worse out there.

Soundtrack to Football Factory (although not the best movie was a decent book) was so good I bought it! Heh. Yeah, give it a whirl, if only for the few bits and bobs which make it a decent watch (in my opinion). I really hate football 'culture' films, they never quite get it right. They should just get Ken Loach to do one properly. Slightly off topic, someone's doing a film centred around the late 70's Northern Soul scene. I hope that's a good one. leeslover
the Fila and Tachini gear is phenomonal Wow, about the only claims me and my brother ever had to being cool kids, as we came back from the Philippines with one each of those brands when our old man worked over there in the early 80s! I think we made sure we had grown fully into them before we stopped wearing them

Its all coming back aswell, recently bought a Fila Bj (named after borg the tennis player, for you young un's - not a sexual act) and another tracky top. Shop just off Deansgate in town called Ran. They sell some good stuff, give it a look. They have an online shop aswell.

Why would anyone watch a football violence film after ID? They'll all be rubbish in comparison.
longtimeblue
Why would anyone watch a football violence film after ID? They'll all be rubbish in comparison. A couple of us ended up in Dry bar with Ginger Tommy from Corrie after meeting him on train the train back from Wednesday a few seasons ago, He seemed really pleased with our admiration of his fine performance as part of the Tyneburn mob. Possibly the greatest british film of all time

(mother's death) Some people just like to kick seven shades of :censored: out of one another - there isn't always a black and white explanation. Green street was perhaps the most ludicrous! I liked the fact that we never knew where the crew was off to - it doesn't matter, they want a ruck they get one, so the identity of the location is immaterial so that was good /writing imo. It was obvious that Elvis would top himself and as you say the sub-plot was pretty weak. As for the setting yes fairly bleak but not as dark as it could have been - it was '79 the winter of discontent and tbh were the trains even running properly that winter? All in all better than the ridculous Green Street, the laughable Football Factory and the over-stated Cass. Still Hoolie-Porn though! ps disappointed that Rebecca Atkinson didn't get her paps out! ID was :censored:e over-acted, not believable at all, the original The Firm was decent but the ending spoilt it. slurms mckenzie
Is this based on the book? Agree with comments on I.D. - greatest "hoolie" film ever made.

When you find it Prozac, it has an original version of the pacman game from the 80's on the site. That passed a few hours
leeslover
I watched Green Street with a West Ham fan I was sharing with at the time, it’s fair to say that he was a much nortier boy than Danny Dyer. He was cringing through his fingers the whole way. The best bit has to be when they brick it from getting off the train because there are about 8 blokes there waiting for them clapping their hands and saying, “United!”
Matt
[new version of The Firm] not expecting much as Gary Oldman is one of my favourite actors... Same here prozac. rudemedic
I had a bit of a hoolie porn marathon a few months ago (You tube is marvelous if you know what you are doing). ID is better than the Firm (slightly surprising since the Firm has Gary Oldman in it and he is a very good actor- but ID had the much better script). Green St is funny just for "Frodo is your leader" (bit naff though)- the second one is one of the worst movies of all time and I've seen American Psycho 2 and both sequals of Wild Things and van Wilder. Football factory is what it is and the book whilst being better isn't great. Cass is OK but the problem with Cass is its just about Cass and I'm a bit sick of him (anything to do with hoolies on TV is connected to him in some way). Rise of the footsoldier is quite good though- the bloke was a football hoolie (big mate of Cass's) who turned into a bit of a Gangsta who reformed (not sure if he ever got sent down- which is surprising since he basically admits to a whole bunch of crimes in the film) but the football hoolie bit stops after about 30 mins. ID is the best football hooligan movie though (IMHO).

You can watch some stuff from the 80's that makes todays plastic little knobheads look like a bunch of girl guides! Theres one which is real footage filmed outside Millwall's ground with West Ham's ICF. They were mental in them days, I remember going to watch them at OT with my mates (just because West Ham were coming to town). The guy from Rise of the footsoldier was Carlton Leach (hooligan, gangster & bouncer)! Watched a programme on him a while ago and his daughter is well fit but you wouldnt would you?
