kellys_discopants
This community guy, I'm guessing his role is to improve the image of OAFC in the community, generating more public interest in the team, getting more bums on seats? No, thats the marketing departments job.

Oldham Community Trust
I have to say I am a little confused. I come on OWTB for a couple of reasons.... The first being a football fan to discuss life in League One with the supporters of a club that after Southend I have developed a real liking for! Secondly to hear what fans of Oldham think about the club, games etc so I can try and ensure that what we do in the Community programme helps the club and fans (for example the half time entertainment) The majority of my posts have been to discuss football and the situations our two clubs are in, very rarely using OWTB for works purposes. If I do have something to go on hear then usually I will ask one of the OWTB crew to post it. As someone rightly pointed out this is a fans message board and I am on here as a fan of SUFC, football and Oldham Athletic to an extent! I take on board what you have said about the name but at the end of the day it is who I am. Does the fact I am a Southend fan mean that I dont do my job at Oldham Athletic any less well..... No! I am committed, with members of my team in the Community programme, to wanting Oldham Athletic to have the best Community Programme in the country. If we cant win trophies on the pitch in the near future then I would like to hope that we can win them for some of our off the field activities. As I said I am here to talk about football and life in League One! Lets just hope that we are both here next season... my view is one of us wont be and I have a horrible feeling that come 25th April as I run (and I use the term 'run' very loosely) round London as Chaddy the Owl, in that boig brown furry head I will be calling all of you everyname under the sun for relegating SUFC.... However come the end of the run and the Monday morning I will be back at my offices in my OAFC tracksuit thinking how good it is Oldham are safe and I will still be looking at how OAFC can be the best in the conutry for community work! OldhamSheridan
You're fine with me. Just carry on doing what you do as far as I'm concerned. Are we supposed to know who he is? I just figured he was some kind of wizard, the way he can morph into Chaddy the Owl and stuff*. Admittedly I thought he was someone from Southend FC weaving their magic/voodoo on here which I thought was a bit odd. What does Mr 71 do? *If he can do the morphing stuff I'll sponsor him a grand** to come round my house as a lusty Shannon out of Home and Away. **Alright I won't, but for the sakes of the joke let's pretend I will. real
Good on you. No idea why this blew up - cetainly wasn't the intention. Good luck in the marathon. I think it just came across a bit wrong - probably more down to mis-reading than mis-wording; and then as per usual opinions divided like bacteria in a warm, sugary pot. Schools coaching, Help for Heroes, Kickz project, trawling the internet for new on SUFC (ooops), Kick and cook with Latics programme, Street Cheer, Sport Relief, Sorting Holiday programmes at different venues across Oldham(Discount available to Boundary Blues), and working out whether to work on the 10th for the Super Sevens/Grassroots Club day at BP or make the short trip over to Leeds to watch SUFC suffer a heavy defeat as Leeds are due to hammer someone very soon, player visits, Educational days, Finalising Alans Apprentice programme, Building up my shrine to ex Shrimpers who play for Latics (Maher and Flahavan have pride of place) and generally not a lot else! I hd no idea we did half this stuff. It's great that we do, but is it not time to get together with the new marketing guy and shout this from the rooftops? NB. I'm sure you'll be even happier when Adam Barrett joins us.

Beardy
Col, one thing which is bothering me! My son is at Rushcroft and they have somebody from Manchester FA teaching the kids on a thurs afternoon. Why isnt that Oldham Athletic? All the kids wear their Utd and Citeh kits and out of 25 kids, only 2 wear Latics (my son being one, allthough his nan is buying him a city kit for his birthday because his friends wear them.) Surely all Oldham schools should have an Oldham Athletic affiliated coach teaching them?

Surely all Oldham schools should have an Oldham Athletic affiliated coach teaching them? We have been in Rushcroft in the past and I know the FA are delivering in Schools through their Tesco skills programme We have lots of competition including City who are going in and unfortunatley their is little we can do except keep trying to get schools and making sure they have a positive experience meaning they get us in again. We would love to be in every school and are tyring which is including us overhauling our schools programme but like anything this needs to be paid for. With schools budgets being cut and with some schools simply not liking football its just not possible. Like you I hate seeing all the City and United shirts (we get them on our Holiday Soccer Schools) but we are working on this with the club with the Super Sevens initiative which has seen around 200 7 year olds get Oldham Shirts with another 100 by the end of the season. Plans are to extend this even further next season!
Beardy
The one at Rushcroft is Kidz in to sports? Personally ive never heard of them, and we pay £3 a session luckily my lad is at an age where he is ready to join a team and learn in a more structured way. oafc0000
Stirring the pot again are we??? Just saw this... Actually I was trying to point out he had a point. A point that was not actually about Seasider personally but a wider point. Although neither you or Ackey saw that and decide to turn this into a massive and needles argument. Ackey bemoans what this place is turning into. Well the moderation team might want to consider there own involvement from time to time. Is trying to understand someones point and try to point out it was not a personal attack now stirring the pot ? = Edited March 29, 2010 by oafc0000
