stevesidg
another rumour: The season tickets discount deadline is 19th May, to get as much revenue in as possible before the 31st May year end, and to allow time after selling tickets before the year end to bring in transfer revenue. ??????????????????????????????????????????????????? Crusoe
No worries. I've no problem believing that the club would want season ticket revenue in before making sales that might otherwise put a dent in it.

slystallone
That all sounds very plausible to me. The transfer fees are realistic for our level; club size & prior transfer fee history. Like all these things though; believe them when the ink has dried & the OS posts up confirmation. Entirely plausible as you say though. Alan Hardy conceded on Late Kick Off that the club arent in a position to turn down 'reasonable offers' for players. If the prices quoted are true then I think the club will accept them. Not saying i agree with the fees, but that is the harsh reality of where we are at the moment. The way we gave up on trying to get a decent fee for an International (be it only Wales) like Neal Eardley showed all i needed to know about what 'reasonable offers' are. If we were financially ok then I'd agree. We need money, £250k is not a lot of money if Southampton want Stephens but if there are no other offers on the table for anyone else then we might have no other option. We lost £1 million last financial year, we don't know how much we have lost this year and with no real financial backers anymore we're a quite stuck in what else we can do. Lookers_Carl
Difference with Eardley was though that he had 1 year left on his contract, and made it clear he wasnt going to sign another deal, hence we risked losing him for nowt. Stephens has another two years left. We could easilly command a fee for 400k or so with add ons and a sell on clause, which is hardly going to break the bank for any championship club

Crusoe
It all depends on who blinks first. Other clubs know we need to sell, so they'll bid low. I'm more inclined to believe we desperately need the money than we're pathologically incapable of negotiation. A player is only "worth" what someone will offer and we're willing to accept. Not a penny more. Stephens is only worth £400,000 if we can afford to knock back lower bids.
Crusoe
Forgot to add: money has a time value. £1 now may be "worth" more than £10 next year depending on what you need it for.
