Diego_Sideburns
The rarely-wrong Chron reports the hot news on the BP arson Youth Court case. Both youths pleaded guilty. The 16-year-old received an 11-month referral order. The 17-year-old received a 12-month rehabilitation order, which includes supervision and 200 hours unpaid work. Both of their families will have to pay £250 costs. The 17-year-old was also committed to Crown Court on separate charges of robbery and handling stolen goods. Lookers_Carl
Stricter sentences than I'd expected. Maybe because they basically lied through their back teeth when first questioned by the police, not coming clean straight away?
oafcprozac
Maybe because they basically lied through their back teeth when first questioned by the police, not coming clean straight away? And had the cheek to sit back and watch their hand work...
losesome
I would have given them a years S/Ticket to that club that Penny turns up at and make sure they turn up at every game. They wouldn't think of doing it again !!!

Diego_Sideburns
The 17-year-old's 12-month rehabilitation order includes supervision and 200 hours unpaid work. This could be spent at BP, picking up litter and cleaning the toilets after home matches.

No doubt so would he, but 200 hours under supervision, reminded every day of his crime, should ensure he learns his lesson.
Dublin Blue
All I'll say is that arson is the only other offence, other than murder, that potentially carries a life sentence. I should have been a judge.

OldhamSheridan
Treason. We're almost there. Murder, rape and genocide carry a life sentance. I believe treason and arson in a Naval Dockyard carry the death penalty still.
