Running into a pig farm when your car on fire is the exact thing the AA recommends.

longtimeblue
His own fault for being a typical showy footballer and driving a 7 Grand mini-cooper. Lost touch with the real world these lads

rudemedic
7 Grand for a 7 year old mini cooper means Wes got ripped off- you can get one much cheaper than that with reasonable mileage (less than 40k miles).

rudemedic
FFS. Maybe he was thinking his insurers might be reading the article. Over claiming on insurance is one of the reasons why insurance premiums are high. I'd rather pay less for my insurance.

How do you unwind at the end of a long day, by writing angry letters to your local MP? It was a joke.
rosa
"It’s not great to be doing 70mph down the motorway with your car on fire. " Reminds me of the best bit of commentary ever (as much as i hate motor sports), "there's nothing wrong with the car, except that it's on fire". Seriously though, how does a car just spontaneously combust on the motorway? Sounds terrifying.

opinions4u
Reminds me of the best bit of commentary ever (as much as i hate motor sports), "there's nothing wrong with the car, except that it's on fire". There are numerous Murray Walker classics. My favourite (and I forget the drivers' names so I've made them up) was "And Prost passes Senna in a snesational piece of overtaking". This put Prost in to the lead. Murray then exclaims "And he passes another one. Amazing driving" to which James Hunt dryly responded "That was the action replay Murray", Walker clearly missing the big flashing "R" in the top corner of the screen. rosa
Was reading this story online at work and a woman i work with said you should NEVER open the car bonnet if there's smoke coming out of it. It was on Fireman Sam, apparently. You learn something new every day.
opinions4u
My Dad opened a car bonnet with a mix of steam and smoke coming out of it once. A jet of steam half melted his finger. So good advice never to open it!!
rosa
Mini recall cars due to fire risk BMW said it was investigating one incident in the UK of an engine-related fire caused by the fault. There have been no reports of any injuries or road accidents resulting from it worldwide. Sue them, Wes!
