We could learn a thing or two or from Swansea

Recommended Posts

They are a prime example of how to play 4-5-1 with a big striker 2 fast wingers and a tight midfield with arguably players who are only Championship standard

Replace Danny Graham with Shefki "undroppable" Kuqi

Routledge and Sinclair for Taylor and Marsh Brown

Sigursdon for Morais/Simpson

Allen and Britton for M changama and Furman

Keep the wingers wide and allow the space for the player playing behind the main striker . Let the deeper midfielders do the dog work and bobs your uncle

Ron the manager

What I mean to say is the way they play with lesser players than their opponents is great to watch

Here are 2 good quiz questions;

Who was the last player Latics signed from Swansea ?

Who was the last player Latics sold to Swansea ?

That's a tough one, so to make it a bit easier;

Who was the last player Swansea signed from the Latics ?

Bit different to us, they have an extremely gifted & talented manager who sets his side up playing a high press; build from the back, ball on the deck, high tempo game with players who are man-managed to get every last inch out of them.......

We are a league 1 side with Paul Dickov in charge.........

Unfortunately; whilst they were league oppositions a few seasons back; we're now worlds apart.

Some of the older fans are very much anti anything other than a rigid 4-4-2 and believe when teams don't score it's clearly down to the strikers (or lack of them) but in truth the key to playing 4-5-1 is the supply from the midfield. It is probably the best formation to play because you can switch it to 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1 if needed, but I think where Latics go wrong is that the lone striker doesn't always get the best service, it's either from the wings or from the centre but the best sides (even ones in League 1) can supply the strikers from both areas of the midfield
