Stoney
We have lost a comic Genius and a Legend - made everyone laugh and never failed to so in a age when you did not have to use Rude words or insult everyone just to get a cheap laugh - very sad day for the people of Oldham and the people of this Island - RIP Eric like I said a comic legend. Diego_Sideburns
His brilliant comedy work was all the more remarkable with him being deaf for over 50 years.....pardon! R.I.P. Eric and thanks for the comedy gold.
Bristolatic
The fact that in later years he worked mostly by lip reading because of his profound deafness is remarkable. A very funny man, brilliant scriptwriter and never resorted to cheap laughs. RIP Eric. A genius that Oldham can be proud of.
singe
It is worth noting that he was also registered blind too, and had been partially sighted for over 20 years as well as deaf.
Diego_Sideburns
It is worth noting that he was also registered blind too, and had been partially sighted for over 20 years as well as deaf. Before his sight went, he used to wear glasses with no lenses, possibly incorporating or hiding his hearing aid. He lived in Coldhurst Ward and went to Ward Street School, so being a Latics supporter went with the territory.

Dave_Og
Spitting image of my Dad and as they were born about two streets away from each other and my Grandad had, shall we say, a reputation I've always wondered...
