simpson- what`s gone wrong?

Recommended Posts

when robbie arrived from huddersfield, most people agreed he was a class apart from anything we had, a player good enough for the championship. Everyone wanted him signed up asap. Now, after a few months of dickov`s managerial skills he is a shell of the player we first signed, falls too easily, always arguing with the ref etc. played on the wing, in midfield, up-top as a striker, when we all know his role is "in the hole". It really doesn`t matter who we sign as once PD instills his way of playing on them, they will just end up mediocre. Take wabara, was a superb attacking full-back when we signed him, if we sign baxter on a 2 year deal, this time next year who is to say he won`t be another robbie simpson, he would probably end up as another defensive midfielder. SC needs to act now before its too late, give the new manager time to stamp his authority on the players. If we lose to bournemouth, donny and hartlepool and donny in the cup people will say we should heve got rid earlier. enough is enough now, PD has had more than enough time and we are going nowhere fast, apart from division 2 that is.

If it was all kept in a couple of the same threads it would be easy for those who can't be arsed reading the same stuff over and over again the bother. If you want to vent then vent, but at least say the thread's about the gaffer rather than Robbie Simpson, when in reality the thread is actually about wanting the manager sacked.

Ok let's forget about PD for the moment, what is it about playing for latics that makes players play below the their standard? We have some very good players ATM , Simpson included, but they just can't perform to a certain level. I know we have some inexperience in our team but surely the likes of Baxter,Derbyshire,Furman, byrne, simmo, wabara, croft etc have enough skill in them to at least feet us playing some decent footie.

Simpson was played in the hole at the start of the season where he wanted to be and played :censored:.

But that was all Dickov fault no doubt and it won't be because of the player himself.

I know he was, even his dad said he turned down better offers to play here so what's gone wrong?

The truth is, of he was that good, he would have been playing for Hudds in the championship now.

Don't think he's been played in his right position all season, management have tried to turn him into a big, bruising target man to win free kicks and corners.

What we've got at the moment is a lad who looks frustrated with what he's being asked to do, resulting in him spending most of the game either on his backside or arguing with officials.

What next, PD converting him to a centre back ?
