BP1960
Tall centre back, very impressive tonight, the one player who would have looked comfortable in Manchester City's team. Was it Jonathan Grounds though ? Edited April 29, 2013 by BP1960
welshgaz
Surely if it was grounds you would know?! Was he left footed?

It was a tongue in cheek reference as to his looks and style of play. Ex Arsenal prodigy and released by Leicester I believe. Also on trial with Brentford . http://www.southendunitedpics.co.uk/image/cars4all_trophy_leicester_city_u18s_vs_wolverhampton_wanderers_u18s_5302760.jpg Edited April 29, 2013 by BP1960
welshgaz
Ah sorry. Either way it's good to see LJ getting on with it. I expect we may here who is staying/going in the next day or two.

I would certainly sign Joey Jones, he would be ideal alongside Mvoto (if he stays) and if possible take a couple of those City lads on seasons loan. Ability wise, on his showing tonight - is he ahead of Tarkowski & Belezika and therefore worth a further look?

opinions4u
He was very good. Also showed some kill at the other ed of the pitch, beating a couple of men to get a cross in. He's done well to stay so fit since leaving Liverpool in the 1970s.

sjk2008
Now that would be handy thing to have! Hang on a minute....am I reading this right, here? Joey Jones is a tall, commanding CB, yet he's taking wicked corners? When does a CB take a corner?

When does a CB take a corner? it wasn't him. Poxon, I think. Pointon-esque, nearly in, keeper just knocked it out for another. Then he played the next one short. When does a CB take a corner? Centre back or not he did raid down the right flank and beat a man easily before sending over a great cross, looks like he could play right back to me. Very similar in style to Grounds. Edited April 30, 2013 by BP1960

Wish we were that humble. Only just 19, played with a lot of maturity last night, it says he's a midfielder so looks like he can play in several positions. Although he played centre back last night I thought he has the makings of a very good right back. If so, and assuming Mvoto stays, the Latics would have a tall defence.
