boboafc Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 we need to get back to playing with 2 wingers and 2 forwards again in all the years i have been watching latics the success we have had at the club is with wingers and 2 good forwards all this 1 up front is no good it just invites teams to come at us all the time all we are looking for is to hit teams on the brake we need to get at these teams in there face with our tactics we dont get enough shots on goal to win games why cant we play this way it got us in the premier league.
SavageTheBeast Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 The games developed you are speaking like a football dinosaur. 4-4-2 is not the formation to use these days. The best formation is 4-2-3-1 but we can't play it

Chris Richard Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 I suspect we will move to two up top. Deano said in his post MK Franchise interview that he thought we looked more solid with that formation.
SavageTheBeast Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 We played it with some success up until early December.....! That was a variation more of a 4-5-1 or I would say 4-2-3-1 with kelly Jones holding

HarryBosch Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 We can't afford decent, consistent wingers. We can afford quality midfielders and there are more of them.

Or one winger who can tuck in and track back when needed. Whatever formation you play it requires a good deal of flexibility and fluidity of movement. There is only one team in the world that can afford the luxury of leaving it's forwards up front and not asking them to tackle back - and they are more than a club.
GlossopLatic Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 While we are at it we will relay the plastic pitch give Joe Royle and Willie Donnachie the job and rebuild the Broadway stand exactly like it was a decrepit old shed that it once was. Then we can all pretend the world hasn't changed while everyonelse accepts it does, evloves and leaves us far behind. Oh wait that's what we've been doing for the last 20 years.

BP1960 Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Diamonds, triangles - what next rectangles and hexagons? (surprised no coach has thought of them yet). Just get on with it and put the ball in the opposition net and defend resolutely.
