Still Latin but back to a football context.  Some years ago I wrote a film script called 'Home Banker' about a group of exiled Northern football supporters on a mission to save their home town club from   bankruptcy; yes, I know, it's a mystery...

The club's motto was 'Mustn't Grumble' which I wanted in Latin so I contacted my old boss who post early retirement became a language professor at Oxford.  he speaks twenty languages, is the country's leading authority on Old Norse and holds dinner parties in Latin and Ancient Greek.

Didn't take him long to come up with Nunc Est Querundum so that was on the club badge in the film.

Had some really good feedback from a friend's brother who has won a Golden Globe for directing so it seemed nailed on that fame and fortune was waiting close by.  Sadly never got made; to my dying breath I'll be convinced that it was a lot better than some of the stuff that does appear on screen.

they only would have changed the kit to red, cast Sean Bean as a striker and had them winning the league at the end anyway

What the what...?  Still available if you want to fund production!  Script will need updating a bit...   Was written with Mark Benton in mind for the lead role

If he were to do character acting he'd have to have half a dozen MacDonalds every day for the rest of the year!

Well I recognise the gerund there (from Queror, Queri = to complain) but I think that translates as "Now one must grumble" - you need a negative in there! Maybe Non Est Querundum?

I'm not overriding aqn who spent two years on Hong Kong and learned Cantonese and Mandarin to add to his repertoire!

Writing a Mark Benton vehicle may have led to the demise of your promising script. Perhaps we could put it on at the Coli.., oh hang on.

'Querendum', not 'querundum'.

I’ve had an idea for a film script for years but haven’t committed.

What’s the best way to learn how to write a script?

Not sure I'm the best to answer given it never got made. I really found it was a closed shop. Whoever we tried to get to read it wasn't remotely interested unless we had money or a track record.  I do know that you've no chance unless it's in the right format. Plenty of reference books around that explain that

Interesting to hear that Lee Grant is the specialist strikers' coach at Ipswich, and given they've scored 99 league goals this season it looks like he's doing a decent job. I suppose a long career as a keeper gives a pretty good understanding of what strikers need to do
