This is why I’ve never understood Latics not playing their youths more.

If we gave Edmundson, Hamer, Mantack, Stott all 10+ games at this level, and they had steady games throughout... all of a sudden it promotes an interest.

All of the above with 10/15 games under their belt in League One would be of interest even without being spectacular, to teams above and we could command a fee.

Even Dave Mellor nearly went for 300k to Fulham, it just makes perfect business sense to give them that time at least.

Totally agree. It doesn’t have to be 3 or 4 neither. But I’ve always thought the club should be leaning on the incumbent manager to bring at least one a season through.

Here's a novel thought, how about rejecting all bids and using him to push on the next few years and help him grow? The short mindines on this board is astounding at time, we just want to sell as soon as there's a sniff. We have a new owner so let's try changing mindset and be a bit more positive. Especially once this seasons done!

I agree but if a premier league club does come in with a silly offer then the club would be foolish not to consider it.

Depends how wealthy our owner is  from memory  he said he wasn’t a billionaire   But maybe he  wants to build something and  has the finances to do so  has anybody found out his actual wealth  ?

We tried doing that with Mellor. We ended up getting nothing and now he’s “playing” in America...

Bring a few into the first XI every season, sell a few, keep a few

If we sell him to Brighton after just signing a contract it better be for a package of a minimum of £1m plus add ons and sell ons. This lad is looking like a very good player to me.

Plus a clause after the sell-on clause stating that we can't cash-in the sell-on clause!!

It's not going to be a silly offer is it? The lads played about 5 games and he's a defender

He’s had glowing references from both TP and Wellens. TP and Wellens have both said he’s raw but he has the attributes to play at the top level. They don’t make statements like that about every kid that comes through. No doubt the scouts at premier league clubs will have picked up on this too. They could be wrong though and he could go the other way like many have in the past.

It'll all be dependent upon AL's wealth.

If it's a promising youngster who's value will only appreciate then can we afford to reject anything below £1m?

I guess we'll never truely know AL's wealth but we'll get an indication if we continue to sell for undisclosed fees or allow youth players to develop for 1-2 seasons whilst improving our team and our chances of progression.

Why would anyone offer more than they think they needed to, in order to encourage an owner to part with the asset in question? Ditto for the sale of a sell on clause.

How Lemsagam conducts himself - on behalf of our club - will be partly responsible for how others conduct themselves with him/our club.
