An eruption of boo's

Recommended Posts

There was some trouble in one of the city centre pubs and one bloke got beat up by quite a few of them plus there was some trouble near the station after the game.

Plus, I never said things had to be true i only said we had a growing reputation (note i didn't say a big reputation) and to get a reputation things have to be reported in the media and be believeable

Thanks for that, didn't know anything about the Pub or the Railstation after game. Saw the blackpool stuff as were staying down there for the weekend, there were little scufles long after the game had ended.

I don't think we are getting a Reputation anymore than we have already got through the mis-informed BBC reporting over the past few years. I think we have a share of idiots just like any club.

the only reason oldham has any sort of rep is because of the race riots, and what went on that day. this is misguided as oldham fans actually had nothing to do with it, it was simply because it was fans of STOKE causing the trouble. It was reported on a national basis later that there was trouble at an Oldham match, and we have never shaken the tag since. the little incidents you talk about, ie wolves and blackpool, these types of incidents happen on a weekly basis up and down the country, at every club, but they do not mean a club has a reputation.

Aye it was the Stoke fans that came after the initial flare up in Oldham, whilst the initial flare up saw asians from all over Lancs and Yorks take part against BNP members from anywhere in Britain, with a minority from Oldham, take part. To make out Latics have a reputable firm is quite frankly laughable.

Meet some Stokies at an England game, heard I was an Oldham fan and bragged about starting our 'riots' ... obvious didn't stay to chat to them. The Wolves incident ...s imply locals hung around the 'spoons looking for trouble eventually one went over to some Latics fans and threw a glass ... before you knew it the 5 cops vans had emptied and filled the pub.... didn't actually see any punches being thrown.

Nothing round the station after I believe ... if there was like as been said nothing that doesn't happen at everty ground each week.

Errr I think there are some very rose tinted spectacles being worn here. We do have a hooligan problem as do most clubs, as has been stated you tube provides many examples of that particular element. What about the 150 that travelled down to the QPR game a years ago (you can see a small section of these being escorted back to the train station on you tube) for a well known face from the 70's birthday?

The reason that most people here are un-aware of this element is that they rarely attend home games as most have banning orders. In fact to be fair they rarely attend matches at all these days; the last big turnout was after the Man City FA Cup game when there were serious disturbances near The Roxy.

The upside of the fact they don't go to BP very often means that it remains a safe place to visit for all; the downside being that when like minded people from Cardiff turn up and find no peers, they tend to start picking on anyone and everyone like the day they smashed their way into the Clayton Arms and caused trouble.

Don't think the arguement was we were sayin that we don't have an hooligan element, like all clubs we do and as you said they very rearly appear as they all have banning orders. Last time I saw some of them make an appearance was Carlisle away. The argument was the fact that it was said we have a growing repulation for trouble. I actually think its the opposite.....

Charming, however, on the BBC programmes about hooligans at the 2006 world cup it was mentioned that Oldham had a firm there (and we were one of the few teams mentioned). Plus in another series of programmes they did one solely about the riots in Oldham and again the club was mentioned as having a firm. I know our 'firm' is mainly young kids who like to mouth off a bit and there have been very few instances of crowd trouble at Oldham games but it does happen and the people who watch those programmes might think 'Oh best not go to Oldham as they've been mentioned' but i doubt it. If you You Tube Oldham+hooligans the first three references are connected to the club and the fourth is the world cup programme i mentioned above.

BBC said? Must be true.

Hmmmmm....how very, very interesting!!! Infact, it sounds very much like someone has seen the very same Police DVD that I have showing the two incidents (also a home game vs Sheff Weds when it supposedly kicked off, but really, a few wheelie bins got re-positioned.)

I was in that pub, that day at QPR. And absolutely :censored: all went on! Seriously...nothing. Can't speak for the Man :censored:ty game but by accounts of the DVD, yes, it kicked off. Who was to blame is unknown. But down in London, nothing but heavy handed policing happened. FFS....it wasn't anyway near Loftus Road....it was in the centre of bloody London before boarding the main train to Manchester!

We've a hooligan problem? My arse! And seriously, I really, really would be the first to say if we have! We've a few wannabe's and a few spotty chavs!

I'm presuming we don't have THAT much of a problem if these 'faces' haven't turned out in numbers in 23 months?
