  1. I'm pretty sure that Lang said in an interview that he's happy to play out wide, right or left. It's a position that he's fairly used to playing, IIRC
  2. Excellent. And I apologise for my part in it as I probably kicked the whole thing off with my initial response. It really got to me for reasons I'll keep to myself. As for David Cotterill, I wish him well for the future and hope that he can find peace, resurrecting his career at the same time. Maybe with Latics in January. You never know, it could be just what is needed.
  3. I'll accept what you say about Baines, but I meant he wasn't consistently their best player over a number of years, but he couldn't half take a penalty and a free kick.
  4. I've never taken a penalty in my life. Mind you, I was a goalkeeper. Does that mean I have a 100% record? 0/0. But, seriously, your best player isn't always your best penalty taker. Think about Leighton Baines, Maurice Whittle, Joe Jacobson as examples. None were their team's best player but, by Christ, they could take a pen.
  5. disjointed (the highest climber, up 5) and lookersstandandy were the highest scorers in the Premier League with 7 points apiece, the latter being the only one with attendance points, scraping in at 100 over. The bottom three stay the same, and JoeP falls 4 places. In the Championship, JohnnyPimp’s 8 points were the best of the day and that moved him up 4 places. Handsy and youngen both fall 5 places into the danger zone. Benja and LaticsPete swap places again at the top. Seven points was the highest score in League 1, by south east latic, whilst dannyboy55555 picked up 5 points by virtue of being 8 away from the attendance. leeslover and oafcprozac (again) failed to post, whilst the relegation places stay the same. Top spot is still held by maddog. Premier League Championship League 1
  6. I don't think you meant empathises, but I agree with your sentiments. Clarke will make mistakes and he's lost his pace, but his footballing brain is vital to our defence. Young George will learn a lot playing alongside him.
  7. If it's Ibby, either us or Rochdale are looking at Jonathan (Jon) Macken. Or was it Patrick Berger?
  8. That's a bit of a bugger. 5 points and mid-table obscurity/safety missed. Be brave, young man, be brave. Life's a bitch at times. 3 points down the Swannee thanks to Grimsby.
  9. IIRC, @Ex_pat and you were level on points last week, but he scored 8 this week. It's tough at the top.
  10. DavidCollinge, Ex_pat and Hometownclub (the latter being the highest climber, up 7) top scored in the Premier League with 8 points. The top three stay the same, but singe is getting cut adrift at the bottom, whilst lookersstandandy dropped 6 places. The traditional 0-0 half time and 1-1 full time let disjointed down, dropping him 5 places. In the Championship, LaticsPete (9 points) takes the top spot from Benja. The other 9 point haul came from yarddog73 who moved up 4 places. No one scored attendance points and there were no posts from daniel and JohnnyPimp (who realised he was too late when he did decide to have a go). AK’s11 and Lawman are still the bottom two. Eight points was the highest score in League 1, by Nohairdontcare and south east latic. Only Latics and England scored attendance points. Lee Sinnott (who dropped 5 places) and oafcprozac failed to post, whilst L1onheartNew and Monty Burns were the highest climbers, moving up 3 places. The top three stay the same. Premier League Championship League 1
  11. Pickled onion vinegar on fish and chips is even better. Gravy and fish? WTF? Wasn't there today, but loved listening to it. Well, in the second half I did. Onwards and upwards.
  12. Pretty certain we've got Surridge for the season and Lang until January.
  13. You keep banging this drum endlessly, but I've yet to see you post anything concrete that supports it. Come on, tell us. Is it cast iron fact, or simply your opinion? Because a recent post of yours suggests the latter. And this is a thread about the Newport game, but it's degenerated into another Byrne thread. Why do we have to have this in threads that are bugger all to do with Byrne? It's getting way beyond tedious and boring, just going round in circles. And, because of that, I apologise for even starting the first paragraph.
  14. Trust me on this, Byrne's wage had nothing to do with him being suspended and moved on. I repeat, that was not the reason, and I will say no more than that. It's up to you whether you believe it or not. AL was not "hiding". There is, as I've said elsewhere, such a thing as employee confidentiality. Let me give you an example. A bus driver is rude to you and overcharges you for your fare. You report him to the company. Irrespective of what the company do to him, you will not find out the result of any disciplinary interview, except that you can be told that the matter has been dealt with appropriately. Employee confidentiality at work. Can we now please drop this whole Byrne thing? He's gone, he ain't coming back, we move on without him and with what we've got until the next window. Let's just concentrating on supporting the players we have and not be constantly wondering how much better/worse we would be if player X, Y or Z was still here.
  15. Six points was the most anyone could score in the Premier League, by a259 (who moves up 3 places into 2nd) and Hometownclub. oafcmetty stays top, but singe remains bottom of the pile. a259 moves up 3 places to 2nd. In the Championship, 4 points was the best score, shared by Benja, Bristolatic, JohnnyPimp, LaticsPete and Stevie_J. Without all the attendance points scored, we could have had the lowest scoring week ever. It’s as you were at the top and bottom. There was no post from oafcprozac in League 1, where 6 points was the top score, achieved by L1onheartNew (who was only 10 off the attendance), Macca and Nohairdontcare. The top six and bottom two stay the same. mcfluff1985 was highest climber, up three. Premier League Championship League 1
  16. Thanks Mr Medic. I didn't look at the Twatter feed.
  17. Attendance confusion. I'm sure I heard Sam announce it was 4,293 and that's what iFollow, BBC and Sky have it as. The fishul has it as 4,239. I'll go with the BBC etc if that's ok.
  18. That, for me, is a spot on assessment. We probably didn't deserve to win it, but certainly deserved a point. They had four shots all game, all on target. We had thirteen with five on target so that, members of the jury, is where we are falling down. I thought we played some decent football at times, but that final ball is missing and too many crosses go astray. Compare Taylor's crosses with Gardner's. When Nepomuceno is back, I'd play Lang central with Surridge, but that probably means keeping Bang-Bang on the right. He could play on the left as he's left footed, but would Nepo be effective on the right? Special mention goes to Missilou; MOM for me. Got stuck in, won the ball back so many times and his passing wasn't too shabby, either. De La Paz was solid, too. A couple of excellent saves, especially the one going in the top corner in the first half.
  19. There was a little interference in the picture from time to time, but the sound was regularly breaking up and then going off completely. Maybe the Oldham weather affected it! At least the sound and vision were in sync. Apart from when the sound went off, obviously.
