  1. That's my understanding OAFC however I would love to be wrong and we get a % sell on
  2. Haha probably so BCD What a way to run a club though ?
  3. Sorry tGWB, I am devastated Bad enough that club start the sacking race again - no idea if NA was any good or not but was she guilty of gross misconduct to warrant sacking? Another industrial tribunal on way methinks Then to appoint the ex-Bury MD who was in situ when that club was being run abysmally and thought that Steve Dale was the right man to take them forward? My heart hurts it really does
  4. Desperate news this, my partner is a staunch Bury FC fan and word is not very good. He was seemingly unaware of all the shit that was going on at Bury FC under Stewart Day, yet he was CEO ! Was part of a regime that wanted to charge fans £15 to meet the manager when Lee Clark was manager there, £30 if you wanted to meet him on an individual basis....... part of a shoddy regime "The Bury Revolution" that ultimately led to the demise of that club by trying to be "Billy Big Bollox!"
  5. I half expected Segbe back tbh - thought he had enthusiasm and showed fleeting glimpses but good luck to him in Vienna whatever
  6. Is this another one where we find out from the recipient club that one of our players departs?
  7. OAFC will die for certain unless the owners and landlords can sort out their differences and the current paralysis will remain and ultimately condemn the club to liquidation. The club are unable to move forward effectively as the owner's funding (whatever it is) is by way of Directors Loans and not investment and so I assume the club debts will continue mounting. The Trust has been unable to access to the full accounts for previous years so that they cannot provide any assurance to the club on their accuracy, meanwhile noises coming out of the club are that they are "debt free/95% debt free***" (insert any other quote here). Fans have no idea just how chronic our financial position is and cannot find any reliable source of evidence. I would take administration now - it is needed just to clear up the situation and come to some accurate position of what exactly the club owes. The administrator will then take ownership of the club (I am led to believe) and will act in the best interests of the club in paying off debts to creditors and arrive at a position where the club can operate from with a plan of repayment to all associated parties. For fucks sake, just do it - there will NEVER be peace at the club until someone operates in its BEST INTERESTS, cannot see either the current or previous owners doing that
  8. Decent turn out from the OAFC faithful, hope Latics keep it up and they get the win for the Faithful
  9. After a lot of consideration about this thread, I think that there may well be some mileage in fans coming together as an informal group who are not constrained like the Trust. I understand that the Trust are meeting this evening and I wish them well - I would love to see a proactive approach to try and elicit a change of behaviour from the owner and his brother that would save the club from the untold damage that the current behaviour is creating. My idea is that we act as something akin to a pressure group, no attempt to divide us will work because we would act as a group for the good of the Oldham Athletic support base. I feel that if 500 (maybe 1000) or so like minded, completely cheesed off, disillusioned supporters of OAFC pledge to attend games at BP only if certain conditions are made such as some of or all of :- (a) The owner/ Landlord and FLG or whoever resolve the current issues that blighted the North Stand and others on Saturday and that a compromise arrangement is agreed by all parties (b) That the owner ensures that all supporters of Oldham Athletic are not subject to unfair treatment in respect of which part of the stadium they choose to sit in (c) The club will make clear its management structure on and off-the-field and articulate exactly what role the owner/ Sporting Director/ Barry Owen/ Banide etc etc play in the recruitment, selection and coaching of the players (d) All club employees and creditors will be paid promptly and in full in accordance with EFL terms (e) The owners and commercial Director will provide fans with an update of how they seek to attract commercial income into the club and supplement the existing funding streams available to OAFC. I envisage that this group would work with the Trust and the Club if mutually beneficial and be a positive as well as potentially negative force. Obviously within our powers is the potential to withdraw our support / boycott games etc. We are all still OAFC supporters whether we attend or not / we are only a group that has come together to act as a catalyst for change - any thoughts??
  10. I actually think that in that season under Robinson, Dunn and ultimately Sheridan (all before AL got involved), the team by and large played for the shirt and a fairly untalented team stayed up comfortably in the end, led in no small way by Clarke & Ripley. Main & Holloway came in on loan and defended from the front and the whole team gelled sufficiently to pick up sufficient points to stay up despite only scoring 31 goals in the season. Much rather that, dull though it undoubtedly was on many occasions, than the shite we have had to endure under this owner whose recruitment hasn't focused on the attitudes of and resilience of players
  11. This is my concern as well, looks to me like they are gearing up the club staff wise and we have no assurance how this is being funded - can't believe its not just being put on "the slate"
  12. I am very sceptical of Latics' financial welfare under Lemsagams (though that's nothing new at OAFC). The apparent refusal to allow Trust to see the accounts in full is of concern. I do think that there maybe hidden "horrors" ahead financially but hoping I am wrong, either way where there's a will as Newport proved
  13. They may not do Joe but the time is yet to come to pass. I think a lot depends on just when Lemsagams get cheesed off and decide to go
  14. The rogue American owner was largely responsible for them going bust in the first place - thought the auction of goods was really harrowing for a diehard supporter of the club. Could easily happen in football clubs now - Bury FC are on the rack, Bolton have been through the mire but look to be safe, the way we are going I certainly wouldn't rule it out. I don't want a Phoenix club, I want my old Latics back - my point was that if the Lemsagams do one & go leaving OAFC in the lurch, don't rule out a recovery (of sorts) by a committed group of supporters who want a return to the Latics we all fell in love with
  15. Just watched a documentary on BBC I-player about Newport County - a club that went bust, reformed, had to leave Wales twice & play in England, took on the Football League, FIFA & UEFA and won, and last season reached the 5th round of the FA Cup. This is a supporters owned club, the town/City seem to support the club, the place is a shithole but its there's. In 1989/90 they were in the Hellenic League and playing home games in Moreton-le-Marsh in Gloucestershire, 85 miles away from Newport. In 1989/90 Latics were embarking on their most illustrious campaign in their history, got to one domestic Cup Final, the semis of the FA Cup and only missed out on the Championship play offs as the number of fixtures took their toll. Thirty years later, Newport are in a better situation than Latics despite the handicap of where they started from in 1989. Three things stood out (1) just how much you can achieve with the right people at the club and the right spirit (2) Just how much some people love their club no matter how shite they are and how bleak their outlook. (3) How far Latics have fallen given their starting point and how they squandered our golden generation far too quickly. If the Lemsagams bin Latics and leave us in shite, we can recover, we will recover and we can become our Oldham again. Unless the owners change their behaviour sadly I can't see we will ever have the right people and right spirit at the club again but I can dream.
  16. and me Harry - just because I feel disconnected doesn't mean I don't care Its the off the field stuff I find the hardest to come to terms with
  17. That's my feeling as well - I desperately want the club to reconnect with its own existing support base as well as reaching out to potential new supporters The club hasn't been run well for years but at least throughout the majority of the Corney reign, the manager, the team and the supporters were singing from the same songsheet with particular great memories of the support afforded to the team at Chesterfield in the 1-0 win after Gerrard had been dismissed at half time, the support at Bristol City when we were in top 2 in November (last time we were going well??) and that wonderful support at Southend when Main scored the winner to keep us safe on that Tuesday night. Things have changed noticeably since Lemsagam arrived, his players were signed on before he took the reins from Corney and the whole context of the club changed dramatically. For long periods of Wellens reign (after Christmas when the rot set in), the team didn't like each other and it was easy to spot that there were factions. This was a major contributor to Latics long-delayed relegation and I am sure I speak for many when I say that this team was far more capable than many previously but went down because they couldn't be arsed!!!! Truly dreadful...…… Last season was very much the same, apparently no team spirit in majority of games and but for a wonderful cup run (which could easily have ended in November) spearheaded by the popular one-of-our-own Pete Wild, the season would have been a complete write-off. Off-the-field shenanigans have also contributed to a feeling that the ownership is more interested in their own agenda than putting the club right and the emergence of the FLG has merely brought the divide further into the public eye. I hate the way the club is run and am sure I am in the vast majority. I haven't gone a season ticket for the first time in many a year although I haven't yet decided whether I will attend home games. desperate for the club to return to what it was - don't mind if its under the current ownership as such but I do feel far less optimistic that this will ever happen under Lemsagam
  18. you have got a Bolton mate?? Seriously though I have too although not seen him for a while
  19. Can't go on Saturday, not sure if I would have chosen to anyway after going last season but:- I think its fair to say expectation is very low so its an opportunity for the starting XI to fire - come on lads, be brave, put your best foot (or feet) forward, play for the shirt, be ambitious, play for each other and you never know...……..character is what is needed most of all in our situation, show the bottle, give it your all and you will find OAFC fans can be as good as any anywhere. Don't hide..... don't shirk....look like you want to be there Newport did great with no expectation last year - come on you Blues
  20. Lump on mate - if you lose and by some miracle Latics win you are happy
  21. Well Abdallah, he runs a football club In a town that's seen better days He makes his brother very happy And lets him pick the team to play He's got a system called fucking clueless Only brings in players he's had on trial Doesn't give a shit about the paying public Got a coach, players and no style Give me strength Abdallah Give me strength Abdallah GIve me strength Abdallah Are you the man? Give me strength Abdalalh Give me strength Abdallah Have you really got a fucking plan?
  22. I have seen someone post picture of tickets - £25 a throw for Bradford. Might do the same as you mate, go for a day out - join the fair few who already do that Just can't get any enthusiasm going to get off my arse and go and watch them and I'm in my 50th season FFS
  23. Paul's dad was a Director of OAFC in the late 1970s, Paul definitely worked as a volunteer at the club for many a year - not sure if he met his future wife there
