  1. Their right back, Hosannah, on a short term contract to the end of the season.
  2. It really is unsustainable. Reading today that Wrexham's owners lost £5m to get them promoted last season. I always think back to the early years of the Premiership when Jack Walker bought the league for Blackburn. Wonder what the equivalent money would have bought him now? I support the Rothwells and am grateful for everything that they have done for us, but they are clearly no fools and we ought not to expect them to throw their wealth into a money pit indefinitely.
  3. Is is it coincidence that the £2 m figure for debtors is the same as the figure for the creditors minus the assumed Rothwell portion?
  4. In that case let's buy some season tickets.
  5. Two questions from me on the basis of not really understanding finance and balance sheets; 1. What does it tell us about the financial health, or otherwise, of the club. 2. What is the assumed thought process behind not including an income statement?
  6. The publicity contains the tacit admission that the club thinks we're not getting promoted. I'm in.
  7. We will always have the problem of these surplus to requirements contracted players until we manage to back a manager for the long term. Inevitably players like this are generally the residue of a former regime who, largely by definition, have not come up to snuff
  8. Attendances at football generally dropped off a cliff in the eighties. The biggest attendances were almost always in the FA Cup.
  9. Just looking at some stuff on Facebook. On March 15th 1986 we beat Palace 2-0 at home in Division 2, Championship in new money, in front of 3726.
  10. I thought Conlon was head and shoulders the best player on the pitch.
  11. Shame the great Maurice Whittle won't be there.
  12. I always recall his performance against Notts County last season. A big factor in turning out season round then.
  13. Reassuring that Hudson goes through to 2025. Norman a problem, though.
  14. There used to be a contributor who updated a list of the contractual status of all of our players. Is that still available? Don't think Frankly is too far out, although perhaps some of those brought in last summer might be better with some of the old guard out of the way. It can't be a happy place at the moment with an experienced group waiting for the axe to drop and others whose careers have completely stalled over the last eighteen months.
  15. Rugby don't play a home game in a six week block to allow the work to be done.
  16. Plague of locusts for me. Abandoned after 10 minutes.
  17. One of life's great questions. What do want to happen when United play Bolton?
  18. Interesting that the 73-4 season was your first. Notwithstanding the genius signing of Groves, I would have thought that in signing Andy Lochhead, Frizzell was trying to imitate the effect Fryatt had on the previous promotion team.
  19. Fryatt was Jimmy Frizzell's first signing in 1970 when we were second bottom of the Football League. He completely transformed the team and the expectations of watching it. We got promoted the next season and didn't look back for a quarter of a century. That is why, in my opinion, he is the most significant. His signing started it all. Ritchie was a fantastic player and a brilliant signing, but only one of several around that time.
  20. 21st October 1975. Division 2 ie Championship.
