The Next Oldham Manager
Shrek replied to GlossopLatic's topic in The opinions4u Terraces - Latics Forum
I think it's a good opportunity BUT should a league 1 manager fail here they'll likely be done as a prospect. People linked Darren Moore with York, he's now at Huddersfield. I don't think we'll be as inundated as we think from those who've done well at lg1 higher level. -
Does Norwood start v Oxford?

Whatever we think Reid vs Willoughby etc Norwood takes more chances and scores more goals. Nuttall is the best partner for a goalscorer. If the manager wants the job he'll pick the side most likely to knock 4 or 5 in on Saturday. -

KW ran around a lot. Needs more than that to get ahead of quality like Reid, never mind Nuttall and Norwood. -

The best goalscorer we've had for YEARS, yes Norwood starts if fit. -

Tollitt and Reid become better players the less they play...... -
This is it. If he was either winning ugly or you could see an attractive style being implemented that needed time to develop we'd mainly be ok with that. We've lost the point winning we had earlier this calendar year, still have the shite football and seem to have no real ambition to sort either. All that despite us making the squad stronger*. *except right back which is a disgrace

Someone has worked it out. 20 year old kid. Poor in my view.
-
The intentions behind it are a little different. It wasn't an offer the club felt he would accept or indeed i believe wanted him to accept. It's the same wage as his initial pro deal. That will be a pittance.
-
We offered him a contract the same level as his post youth one. Peanuts, it meant we were due compo. We don't actually want him to sign.
-
As he's one of our youth products, one of our own, I find it disgusting the way we've treated him. He had, still has, plenty of potential. Hasn't worked out for him, really shame really. We've no intention of keeping him apparently, I believe our offer is around the same as his deal signed last time, straight off a youth. This then traps him as any club signing him owes compo. Unless there has been an update I've missed that still remains. Poor form from us IMO.

Why are people pretending we can't afford to get rid of Unsworth? That's a liability we've had for a year now. No way we can't afford to pay it up if push comes to shove. Rooney won't have gone without having his arse tickled, I'm sure they could offer Unsworth half or garden leave and have enough to hire some non league manager.
-
Just play him up front in a 2 with Nuttall. 2 wide men playing the ball into him, Nuttall creating space and occupying the other centre half. Almost like this worked once and then didn't get tried again.......
-
Not sure they will. They can't have expected 7000 a week. We've sold that many STs that the crowds shouldn't be a massive financial issue unless we have been very silly. Crowd numbers won't affect the managers job imo, but behaviour and atmosphere may well...... Average attendance last season was 6600 in a division where we had Wrexham and Notts County. They can't have budgeted for it to be even the same never mind higher than that surely. The BBC have the Dorking game at 6291.
-
Wittering on with unsubstantiated opinions on what fans of a club he doesn't support expect is just odd. Not interested in any historical aspects.
-
The original post about paying him off etc. The likelihood is, if we can't agree a cut price deal, is he goes on garden leave. Bayern have their last manager on garden leave, Nagglewhateverhisname. Germany may take him, and if goes the contract is broken. If Ebrell or anyone walk when Unsworth goes they won't be paid off.
