  1. At my local golf course on the Fylde today, which admittedly doesn't get as cold as Oldham, the ground was hard with frost until about 12-1 pm (couldn't get my tee in), when it thawed out rapidly. Plus the area in fromt of the main stand that gets no sun, it doesn't look hopeful.
  2. I feel it isn't predominantly about racism or perceived racism among Latics fans, but the same reasons as why there are only 3-4000 home fans of any ethnicity in a town of 250,000. Most kids are brought up on a diet of saturation TV footballl coverage so they (armchair-)support big, glamorous clubs that play attractive, exciting football like United, City and Liverpool. Asian kids are no different from their white counterparts, hence you see them wearing united tops. The fact there were more Asian kids and parents when we played Liverpool or Everton bear this out. They came not so much to support Latics as to see Premier League stars in action right on their doosteps. If we get a new stand, and if we get promoted and start playing more attractive oppositions, I'm sure more will come through turnstiles, including Asians. Also historically, in the Indian subcontinent, the No 1 sport has been cricket and in UK there are still more Asians of all ages playing cricket in local leagues than football or rugby. Evidence the fanatical support for their touring team when they play England in tests, one-days and 20/20s. Other towns and cities with large Asian populations like Luton, Bradford, Blackburn, Leicester or Birmingham don't have significant Asian fanbase, though some perhaps do better than others.
  3. 18 rows in Upper Bullens. 16 in Lower Bullens and 11 in Paddock (plus wheelchair space in front). Number of rows varies slightly depending on your exact location, but no more by one or two.
  4. If you get there early (around 5 pm), there is some free parking to be had in the Walton Village area about 10 min's walk from the ground, which is where East Lancs Road crosses the ring road, Queens Drive. Walton Sports Centre is on your right just before you come to Queens Drive, about 15 mins' walk.
  5. There is a 'view from your seat' feature on Everton site at http://www.evertonfc...ewfromyourseat/ While you can't actually select the away end, choosing the nearest home sections (which have been given over to us in our allocations) gives you an approximate view. We have been given two blocks on the paddock, and four each of Lower and Upper Bullens. Looking at their online booking sites, around 80% of home areas seem to have been sold. They are selling some to home fans on the night, so I expect around 35,000.
  6. At least their Commerzbank Arena is right next to the airport (FRA), one stop on the tram (3 min), and flight time to Manchester is only 90 min, and you can often get a one-way fare from £39 on Lufthansa.

  8. LV3 Row 6 in the paddocks, roughly in line with D of the away penalty box.
  9. They are quite good seats, similar to our Main Stand paddocks with nice, plastic individual seats, not woodeen benches like further up and no supporting pillars!
  10. Interestingly, Everton is giving their season ticket holders entry for £20, concessions for £10 and under 16s for £5. £5 more for non-season ticet holders except under 16s. So we can hope to get in for £20 with a ST voucher and £25 without. Also they are selling tickets (at full price) on the night.
  11. You are right. Just read the rule 20©(ii). http://www.thefa.com/TheFACup/More/~/media/8E34042273E245C18A701EA20AD82ACE.ashx
  12. Everton fans are talking about £20 for replay to get more bums on seat to cheer the home side to victory! I think under the cup rules, admission prices have to be agreed between the two clubs, as they get a cut of the gate receipt.
  13. My local sources tell me that PNE lot really like the look of 'Larry' Grayson, who has promotion successes with Blackpool, Leeds and Hudders from this division.
  14. But you can reserve and pay in advance and just pick up on the day, though they may suspend phone sale at any time.
  15. No. Only those who are paying to enter will be given a 'ticket', just like for the Liverpool game.
  16. After heavy afternoon snowfall, match official recalled and declared the pitch unplayable.
  17. Since the ground isn't frozen, all they need to do is to remove accumulated snow/slush by KO.
  18. Always possible, but provided snow stops or turns to sleet/rain before KO and accumulation can be removed, I can't see a problem as the ground isn't frozen and perfectly playable.
