  1. my memory must be playing tricks on me. I thought gunnar played the vast majority of games at right back? I am getting on a bit tho...
  2. sad news indeed. brings back some great and some painful memories of better, exciting times.
  3. it's interesting that their 2010 manifesto placed the lib dems just below the horizontal line, although all three parties are firmly to the right of centre. labour outrageously close to the tories.
  4. "so, tell us, is survival your goal for this season?" incisive interviewing there. next stop, newsnight...
  5. this managerial appointment is the equivalent of trying a pirlo penalty when you're one - nil down and in the drop zone. genius if it comes off, cataclysmic if it doesn't. a gigantic gamble. one thing is for sure now though. corney is off with whatever he can salvage from this expensive failure. if he was staying we'd have appointed a proven manager.
  6. i'll answer after tuesday. right now i think we're likely to stay up. but lose on tuesday...
  7. in my opinion simpson has crossed the line between being aggressive & trying to hurt an opponent too often. symptom of him being bobbins all season. and knowing it.
  8. a bit of give and take and mutual respect from each side is surely the order of the day here. assess your surroundings and the people involved and be reasonable. and yes, liverpool away was VERY different. as someone that was on the back row for that match i literally may as well have sat at home and listened on the radio. in fact i really wish i had.
  9. I'm sure someone will trawl the history books to check this one. in terms of this season though, Liverpool are the bigger name but everton is definitely the tougher game.
  10. I am stunned there is a football fan in this, or any other, country who would even contemplate having gary megson at their club.
  11. I have a feeling SC's plan was probably to sack dickov after the Liverpool game, assuming we'd lose it, & was then totally wrong footed by us winning. made it very hard to sack him or back him 100%, hence the unclear position straight after the game.
  12. rick holden at newcastle, 89/90 (?) overhead volley kinda thing. ridiculous.
  13. we certainly asked them to. don't know if they agreed or not.
  14. I'm not one to ever claim insider information & all that boring "I know something you don't" garbage. but this just happens to be something I know, 100% certain. as I say though, it may never have come to anything. I don't imagine city care one way or the other these days!
  15. yes, a few years back city did attempt to buy the clause out, an offer that came to nothing. in the last couple of years though, given the dire financial mess we found ourselves in, it's us that went to city. sadly I don't know if any deal was agreed. I assume not but can't be certain.
  16. I know we approached city in the not too distant past asking them to buy the Richards clause out. I imagine they declined. but if not, the Richards money might already have been & gone? tho assume it would have to be shown in the club accounts?
  17. I was in the lookers, amazing night, hardly remember anything about it now, tensest, most adrenaline packed 90 minutes of my life. I do remember a few verbals in the car park after. I got sent flying, kicked in the stomach a few times, but I just couldn't stop laughing even as they were booting me! happy days
  18. morais is the only player we have that I'm excited about watching. yeah a lot of the time it doesn't come off, if it did then he wouldn't be in division one, but bloody hell, there aren't many players in this league that have talent on the ball & can surprise you. thank god for players like him.
  19. hate to say anything negative about such a brilliant effort but totally agree kuqi was a real weak link. desperately needed someone to hassle them, give them something to constantly worry about & move them around & I thought kuqi was utterly abysmal tbh. but nine awesome performances & one quiet one to choose from. I'd take that any week!
  20. my recollection is that they were clearly booing him before that tackle was ever made.
  21. I will be very interested to see how LFC punish this fan if he (or they) are proven to have racially abused tom. having vigorously defended & supported their own employee who is guilty of exactly the same offence, how can they possibly ban the supporter? they really have dug a massive hole for themselves & I hope that the manager & players are today regretting their behaviour over the past few weeks. they brought shame on a once proud club.
  22. on the one hand I'm all for standing up for 90 minutes. on the other, on this specific occassion, from the back row of 124 last night I would have seen a match had everyone been sat down. as it was, my friend who is a little shorter than me, didn't see a single goal & actually just gave up trying to watch at all after an hour. it was physically impossible with the low hanging ceiling blocking the far end & fans blocking the near end. great, great night though!
