  1. TBF to @BP1960 he has one of the best seats in the ground. I'd wager if it didn't have a reserved sticker on it, he'd have to ask someone to move 25% of the time. It only takes one person not to move. I have had someone "refuse" to move from my allocated ST seat because it didn't have a reserved sticker on it before. I've had someone else kick up a stink to move from my allocated seat. Just because it hasn't happened to you doesn't mean it doesn't happen.
  2. He’ll do well to have scored 10 by the second week of September, after all that’s when winter starts at OL1 2PA this year (as we are away for the first week of September). I do fancy having a flutter on a number of Oldham players to be top scorer this year. Problem is I don’t know which one is most likely, essentially it’s the one who remains fit for longest.
  3. I fully expect us @ Chesterfield will be a TV game which, based on last year, means we won't be on TV before then and probably not soon after either. As both sides in last year's opening day TV game were relegated (Scunny and Yeovil) I don't mind not being a TV game first up.
  4. As the fixtures have been released and there is no obvious replacement I think there are only 23 teams in this division and only 3 relegation spots. Essentially Bury's situation from a few years ago but without the season starting before the club went bust.
  5. Don't think that matters as he was 23 on 30/06/23 or 01/07/23. The rule is "Compensation is payable until the end of the season of the player’s 23rd birthday." But that's for international transfers. That was 30/06/23 as Dallas turned 23 on 23/07/22, which is now last season. No-one could sign him without paying the fee until last weekend. It may well be that a Scottish team, remember Dallas is Scottish, or a team from elsewhere in Europe can sign him without paying the development fee. But us and Chesterfield and whoever else is interested in England need to pay the fee. Can see him returning to Scotland.
  6. Someone asked if Paul Murray will do that and his youth-team role. There's probably a few ex-players DU knows who'd gladly take the opportunity, unfortunately I don't think Big Dunc will want it.
  7. Think Dave Bradley from the BPAS phone-in said he was commentating, so that's presumably being broadcast.
  8. Weirdly they seem to have blocked off part of a side stand and part of their North Stand, so I would guess they are the areas for away fans. So instead of giving away fans a stand, or part of a stand, they are allowing away fans to have parts of 2 stands. This would limit their capacity due to increased segregation, although it probably makes it easier to accommodate clubs with small followings.
  9. He was the guest on the BPAS phone-in tonight. Well worth a listen for those that didn’t catch it live.
  10. Clubs are asked to fill a survey, so I'd imagine either club has requested certain fixtures. https://www.thenationalleague.org.uk/how-are-the-vanarama-national-league-fixtures-comp-76860
  11. No, his reputation as a potential good manager was formed at the same place as DU. Managing Everton's youth team to win trophies is the sort of thing that got you an EFL job years ago nevermind now with a more competitive youth system at the top level.
  12. I think it's quite likely she'll be an asterisk to someone else's claim to fame as I can't see her managing in the football league. Unless they sack someone mid-season as well. Even so it's a bit of a glass ceiling broken. So good for her. FWIW I've edited your post as the women's PL is professional and there's a number of female coaches in that. I know Newcastle (3rd tier) have gone professional too so presumably the 2nd tier is mainly (at least) professional. FGR's chairman may have other things on his mind given who he also funds.
  13. Saw something on twitter that said he'd done 6 months for conspiracy to steal prior to getting involved with Fleetwood. Might explain the sentence a bit too. While Fleetwood were non-league when he took over, and the length of sentence means Pilley didn't have to declare it. It is a bit worrying that he passed the fit & proper persons test with a conviction like that on his record. I'd imagine he'd now be barred for life from holding a company director post.
  14. Stockport also regularly seemed to play Fridays too. Allowing quite a few Citeh fans to go was part of the rationale.
  15. Or the faux-Tory ex banker who now can’t find a bank to take his money.
  16. Well they do rely on clubs completing a survey, and considering the part-time nature of a number of clubs it probably has more variables. Full article https://www.thenationalleague.org.uk/how-are-the-vanarama-national-league-fixtures-comp-76860
  17. Presumably stopping the 2 hour commute from Heywood will have been a factor.
  18. They would if the fixtures had been released, but as they haven't and it still gives both teams 'enough' rest between Saturdays I don't think they need to. Plus it means that if for some reason either team ends up playing on a Sunday the midweek game doesn't need to be postponed / rearranged to the Wednesday anyway.
  19. Those are the rules for the tournament and are actually quite common for all under 21 tournaments. If you were born this millennium you were eligible as the qualification started in 2021, so anyone born this millennium would have been 21 or younger when the qualifying started.
  20. Well since Molson Coors own the brand that is quite likely. If Diego was still about on this board he'd probably tell everyone it's also brewed in Burton. Never drank it, never will.
  21. Doesn't look like it has ever happened. The likes of Forest Green and Tranmere have been promoted after losing the play-off final the year before but that was by winning the play-offs not the league.
  22. We’ve been 10/1 on Ladbrokes since the market opened. As they are still 11s on bet365 and were 12s until our new signings yesterday on Sky Bet (now 9/1), a lot of Latics backers have got or will still get better odds. I can see Bet365 bringing their odds down so anyone wanting to bet may wish to do so quickly. ALWAYS GAMBLE RESPONSIBLY
  23. Not as much as another son of Oldham. Frank is probably only at OBE level currently, maybe CBE if the right people put in a good word for him.
  24. We do need to sort the position out, especially if DU is going to play wing backs. As while Sutton did a reasonable job as a RB in a back 4, he was poor when asked to play RWB as part of a defensive unit with 3 CBs. I'm not sure we need to spend a transfer fee on a RB/RWB/RM though. But it might be the cheaper option to do that and pay less in wages. We may not need more than 1 player there though, as we have a number of players who will be reasonable as either a RB or a RWB.
  25. Standard FIFA / UEFA contracts end on June 30th, this applies to all clubs in the English and Scottish Leagues system. This also applies to non-league clubs in England.
