  1. Exactly. Working Christmas Day is one of those things you have to accept if you work in certain employment. On the list of jobs where working Christmas Day is just one of those things, I'd wager footballer /professional sportsperson is the most desirable. I'd be interested if Chesterfield were training today. Because I'd think they'd have the day off and that might be the lesson some of our players need to learn.
  2. This. I mean look at Gateshead, their GK has thrown 2 in against us, one literally, and then been culpable for another. But judging from his performance in the playoffs last season was a very good signing. So even if we do sign another GK there’s no guarantee they’d be better than Norman or Hudson. Fix the problem areas and then consider another GK, but by the time we have fixed the problem areas at least one of the GK’s contracts will have run out, so we don’t have to offload them after.
  3. Notts County and Grealish wasn’t even on the pitch having been subbed at HT. IIRC correctly Grealish had been booked and then been wound up by the paddocks to the point where he was unlikely to last longer. He went on social media after the game and called Oldham fans melts.
  4. Simms has a massive asterisk on it, the Lemsagams let him leave for free because they knew they were leaving. Festus Arthur is a reasonable shout but only because Stockport made money on him. He's at this level, so not exactly set the world alight, but making money is more than nothing.
  5. Oh no it won't. (Just getting into the spirit of the season )
  6. It's 5 subs in 3 stoppages of play so any sub made at HT doesn't count towards the stoppages of play. Fairly certain it was altered initially due to COVID-19, but was maintained partly in conjunction with World Cup 22 and Euro 20 (that took place in 21). Benefits big teams and squads, so we'd see the benefit more than say Gateshead would.
  7. This But for that area of BL9, South of Pilsworth and East of Whitefield. Sorry @unsworth blue @unsworthblue @unsworthlatic @unsworthphil
  8. To sum up football is a game that is at least 90 minutes long, and some of our fans would do well to remember that. However, first half we were poor and Stones was our best performer by some way. They were not that much better though, and if that game is at Boundary Park I think their first goal gets disallowed for the tug on Raglan. Second half we looked a lot better and were a lot more on the front foot, with Sheron and Lundstrum playing 10 to 15 yards further up the pitch. If we are unfit I don’t know how you’d describe them as they were knackered by 60 minutes, hence our 2 goals in 2 minutes shortly thereafter. They struggled to chase the game, because they were knackered and it was a comfortable last 20 minutes for us, even more so when we scored our third thanks to hard work from Fondop. Yes they got a penalty in added time but that was against the run of play they had barely threatened in the second half. Sutton had his best game at RWB, although that’s not a high bar, probably helped by having McGahey sitting at CDM. Stones is a beast, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see someone higher up comes in for him in a few years. Getting another striker may not have been addressing our obvious frailties but he is better than what we have, and I’m tempted to include Norwood in that too. Oh and while I only used it to warm up a bit, how much better was that away end thanks to that portakabin bar thing. It’s not much but it allows away fans some semblance of equity in terms of facilities, especially alcohol drinking due to an antiquated law which needs removing from statute.
  9. Thought it was an interesting decision to close the Main Stand to Oldham fans, despite that stand offering the best protection from the elements and having the longest tenured ST holders in. Can see why like, but think some people may not have turned up because their regular seat, wasn't available.
  10. While not strictly National League bit of a feisty affair at Avro today, with scenes nobody* wants to see * Everyone Main highlight starts at 11:25
  11. Yep, played in an earlier round so is cup tied. You knew he would score if eligible for play.
  12. 12 foot ladder hasn't worked on the Athletic for me for a while.
  13. Shite but he scored 16 goals in 43 games last season in the same division for a side who was in the bottom half for 41 of those games.
  14. A polite reminder that free speech ≠ the right to slander / libel. Free speech ≠ the right for hate speech either
  15. Saw them supporting Arcade Fire at Gorilla in about 2009.
  16. Muted him ages ago and don't miss his comments. But have seen him saying undersoil heating was top of the agenda. But he's too ignorant to realise that means other stuff wasn't, you know like the actual players. Funny how he has popped up with Frank away...
  17. Interwar years and for a season or two in the 1900s.
  18. It would be interesting as Notts County probably get into that conversation too. Essentially you'd need to be a former top flight team who've played non-league in the days of the conference. So that's us, Notts County, Luton, Oxford, Grimsby and Carlisle. Wigan with their extended history in non-league and a spell in the Premier League and Wimbledon / Franchise might also be contenders.
  19. Fake news. Unless you are travelling by a weird method you can't book train journeys beyond February.
  20. Yeah we did and they would have probably played Harrogate first. But of course when Sutton were promoted there is a new list of 92 and 5 teams were due to complete it that year. Us, Port Vale and Bradford being 3 of the 5. The article mentioned 4 leaving us out but we were the first of the quintet to play Sutton that year.
  21. That's one for the column in the Guardian which erroneously left us out of a list of teams to play all other 92. When we were actually the first to do it that season.
