  1. Chesterfield and Rochdale spring to mind. His finish for what turned out to be the winner at Dale was as good as anything I've seen from an Oldham player this millennium. His instincts to both stay on side and be first to ball after their Goalie's fumble at Chesterfield was excellent too. I'm not sure if he calls the offside Fondop away, but he was getting that ball first no matter what.
  2. I think the playoffs being a raffle is a bit of a myth. If teams are fairly even then it is probably better to get in with a #LatePush than be in the mix all season but splutter towards the end. But as with last season if a team has dominated all but 1 in the division then that team usually goes up. We've played our hardest game of the season, and by the end of the month we'll have played what looks like our second hardest game of the season too. I don't think there's any team we should be scared of in terms of getting a result. We have to make the playoffs for it to matter though. I think that is still quite likely. But it won't be MM's fault if we don't.
  3. Hudson - Steady, not at fault for either goal. Freeman - OK, a much better option than Sutton Hobson - Usual decent game. McGahey - Average Kitching - Better when pushed into midfield. Hogan - Played LB, did OK playing slightly out of position. Hope - Ran around a lot and looked dangerous at times Sheron - Meh Lundstram - Meh Dickenson - Not long enough to judge Nuttall - Did OK, tested the GK and supported Norwood Norwood - Should have scored early on when through on goal Other subs Reid - Looked lively, but that's about it Fondop and Gardner - Not on long enough, both probably should have been on at least 10 minutes before they were. Hobson easily our PotM. But no-one had a shocker, and no-one had a blinder We missed Norman (for his distribution), Green (if he turned up) and I'd have brought Fondop on a lot earlier, he would have bullied their CBs a lot.
  4. We are a very similar number of places below them as our last visit under Shez. We were well worth the draw that day and were probably unlucky not to win. Play the strongest team we can, Fondop battered then in our last visit so may be worth a start. If we are going to treat one competition lightly I'd much rather it was the FA Trophy. Like @HarryBosch said winning is a habit so we should play the strongest team available.
  5. Not 100% sure he's available as his first booking at Fylde was his 5th of the season. So he may be banned for that.
  6. I think you can use the print at home option for e-tickets.
  7. Did they become Leigh RMI? As the RMI was for Railway Mechanics Institute wasn't it. Eastern Europe was full of "works" teams wasn't it. Weren't teams called Dynamo associated with the 5-0?
  8. @peanuts2's point was that a 10 yard penalty for backchat was adopted in football in a lower level competition, possibly the Anglo-Italian Cup or the EFL trophy, currently sponsored by a Pizza company. It was then quietly dropped. I'm fairly certain I saw the rule enforced at Boundary Park at least once. It didn't last long possibly because there was only a maximum 10 yard penalty, unlike in Rugby where the penalty can continue to be enforced. Also I don't think a 10 yard difference 60 yards from goal makes that much of a difference in football but it does in Rugby. Personally I think referees should be given the freedom to leave games abandoned due to 7 men and with subsequent points deductions for continued disrespect. Shame it didn't happen on Sunday in Trafford.
  9. In Lancashire (the police area, not the whole county) crimes against Goths are classed as hate crimes. There is a very very good reason for that. I would expect serving police officers, of various ranks, to be at a hate crime conference. The clue is in the f**king name.
  10. I think Saturday could be an interesting litmus test. Newport are struggling but are still 8 points away from relegation. Coincidentally we are a very similar number of places below them as we were when we last played them Feb 2022. We well deserved our point in that game and probably would have had all 3 if not for poor discipline.
  11. If football is going to do that. Then head injury assessment substitutions need to be introduced. Concussions need to be taken seriously but to do that then (temporary) substitutions need to be introduced. As the Jose and Chelsea doctor fiasco highlighted football managers are too concerned with winning games. Clinical staff must have other priorities and those priorities can cause conflict.
  12. The prize money for winning the first round of the FA Cup is more than the individual prize money (per game) than all but the winners of the FA Trophy. Obviously the cumulative effect means that I think all 4 FA Trophy semi-finalists (and we should be good value for that) get more money.
  13. Indeed I don't think anyone would have had massive issues if it had been a red card. Shocking challenge.
  14. If Steve Eyre told me Rochdale won and Oldham lost I'd check the internet. He is a truly awful biased commentator. Green wasn't as bad as some people have made out yesterday, especially when he actually tried to beat his man. But to say he was by far our best player says so much more about the commentator than the performance.
  15. Was it me, or did we look a lot fitter than they did in the last 10-15 minutes? It might have been the game situation but they were blowing a lot sooner than we were.
  16. The MSU were voicing their discontent when we were keeping possession instead of going forward. Might not have been audible in the other stands though.
  17. There was an expectation he was going to score when he did too. Not felt that for a striker at Oldham for years.
  18. Yes last season against Bromley (last game of the season). Thought it was one of his best games for Oldham. Not that I've seen him much mind.
  19. Love some of the comments about playing 1 up front completely forgetting we played 1 up front on Saturday and scored 4. I'm not sure I'd have either taken Hope off or even made a sub when Hogan got sent off. Hope will always run himself ragged, an endeavour needed playing a man down. Green won't. Personally I'd have shifted Sutton inside and played either Sheron or Shelton, probably Shelton, at RB. I'd have also told Norwood to run his bollocks off as he was coming off for Reid / Fondop after about 60 minutes. Playing a man down you need high energy pressing and the lone striker is very tough position to play high energy pressing for 60 minutes. Not convinced by Hogan at all, will be interesting who comes in for him now he is suspended for a TBD amount of games. As his first yellow was his 5th of the season, so he was due a suspension before he was sent off anyway.
  20. Train wasn't much better delayed before it left Blackpool, but at least there was plenty of room, as Northern had put on a double train.
  21. They did for the 2nd half. Let Oldham fans into the stand on the right up to about the edge of the centre circle. Very sensible move by Fylde, although presumably that one bloke who didn't seem to want to move took some persuading.
  22. Yeah but no doubt the GMP's investigation won't consider their part, or that of Taurus. Of course if the person knocked down complains hard enough and to the right people the investigation might get taken out of GMP's hands.
