Unfortunately there is an element of both in the Manager's job description in 2010 and ok if we are playing in the Conference in front of 1,200 fans he will fit in fine, but not a league team. How many people earning in the range £80K -£100k can be devoid of the above skills and get away with it.

Really don't want to change Manager and up to the last few weeks have always thought we should give DP more time. However a couple of things have changed my mind. First of all tactics; he won't change, next season will be equally dire, yesterday 1st half good, 2nd half tried to hang on to a 2-1 win rather than pushing on. He has no empathy with the club or fans, got on the bus at Carlisle no post match conference for GMR,how the hell does he think the casual fan is going to hear about latics especially when it is good news. Comment that he doesn't hear the moans in the local press because he lives in Yorkshire, he is employed by OAFC and it his responsibility to engage with the local press. Why hasn't he like other managers appeared on the late football show on TV, sent Greegs instead. Martin Gray was featured on the show last week not DP. All in all, lack of leadership,empathy, positive promotion of the club and negative tactics.

DP needs to be given time, the last 3 performances have been good/satisfactory. We beat one of the better teams in the league today and showed fighting spirit.

Pretty much spot on 2 things a Midfielders need to run past Pav (towards the opposition goal) Dale stephens did it recently (can't remember which game, they all blur into one) and scored. b Fullacks need to get forward past the wingers either to cross or provide a decoy ,see Gary Neville today at his age decoy run, cross and Park scores being brave, Chris Taylor watch in particular (how much do you waqnt it!)

Sheehan was the last player (of many) to wear a latics shirt to put in a decent cross.Leaving Gregan aside my Player of The Season, thats how bad the rest of them are including the dejuvenated Pav.

Swindon and Colchester have both got significantly bigger budgets behind them and bigger attendances, why could we not keep our best palyer of the season after Gregan, Sheehan out of the clutches of Swindon.bristol Rovers have better gates and their fans are not so fickle.

Joe Royle had a long list of bad signings before he got lucky, give a Manager at least 18 months to sort it out. TTA have shown no more ability to "get it right" than Dave Penney, so I have no more confidence in the next manager through the revolving doors. The whole economics of football is stacked against us. Its not good , the whole structure of clubs with our resources is bust, its not just Dave Penney's or TTA's fault there sre bigger issues and we need to see beyond the end of our noses. Name me one team in the top 10 of this division with a budget or crowds lower than ours.

What a good thread ok we are stuggling, changing managers won't solve the prolem and Rome wasn't built in a day, or the pinch me seasons. We need to stick with Dave for a good part of next season. Interesting that the less eloquent responses on this thread are anti Penney, at least they have a new song to sing with not many words in it.

The Penney out song today was a disgrace. How many would stand alone in a room with Dave Penney and sing that to his face ? Ok things aren't going well, the club needs stability on the pitch to compensate for the instability and dire facilities off it. We would only be asking the TTA to choose a new manager and they have failed to get the man we need on 3 previous occasions. I am not saying Dave Penney should be bomb proof, but give him a chance,we won't go down and with some stability and togetherness we can go more confidently into next season. And no I am not a happy clapper, but there is an unrealistic bandwaggon of festering gloom that too many are thriving on.

For a lot of people that live in the borough of Oldham the actual community doesn't exist anymore. Ok they go to the hospital,to school because they have to,given a choice of where to be entertained, relax,shop, watch sport and work it is just accepted that you have to go elsewhere. Sucessive councils have pandered to the whim of every grouping resulting in inertia and a slum. Latics and Roughyeds are just a by product of that malaise. There is a continual drift away, more and more residents with aspirations and desire for community spirit eventually move towards their jobs,shopping and entertainment leaving an ever increasing void. The council can't cope with one of the last bastions of such by gone spirit residing at the heart of the borough and so are shoving us in a corner near the Mancs. One final point they have manged to achieve this and leave those remaining with the highest council tax in Greater Manchester. What a joke,TTA must really enjoy a challenge.

Wrong, I also thought that he should have taken Furman off so there were presumably at least 3 of us in the ground me Penney and Gray. There seems to be an assumption that you always take off the worst performing player, today he was obviously trying to change tactics and give us a more attacking set up and it worked, well done Dave today. There are signs that we are starting to attack a bit more so lets hope it continues and we have a etter product to watch.

I couldn't have put it better myself, exactly the same for myself and my wife. The closure of the Lookers was a shocking decision even without the benefit of hindsight. There are countless loyal season ticket holders who used to sit in the Lookers who no longer attend. We went to the RRE and are now in the main stand paddock, neither of which has the same,allbeit limited,appeal.What about the kids? Never mind the diehard adults,the future of the club is also being sold down the river,what affinity can boundary blues have,without even a home in the ground?

The problem is how many mangement teams can you have before you become the problem. Having said that I have utmost admiration/sympathy for TTA. just a bad decision to invest in OAFC

Exactly,in particular the Sport City development as it stands now is just the beginning.Any commercial activity that we have on the Failsworth site will be blown out of the water when that development is finished.
