  1. I have never seen Chris O'Grady put in a bad shift for us. Has never been given a chance. Tactically he would be ideal for us now, with no midfield an Pav out. Go long for Chris to hold the ball up and let others come into play. He might even get the odd goal or 5. I want Dave Penney to be given a chance, at least another year, but O'grady on loan and Hills in preference to Black make we wonder.
  2. Thats the scary thing at the moment, I wouldn't want to get relegated as we couldn't guarantee to survive in that division.
  3. Great weekend and performance from latics fans. If the players players were half as good as us we would be in the play off places at least. It was great to see Carrow Road a true football club. Norwich don't have competition from the Priemership clubs in the same way as us so maybe it is easier for them. The last time I went past Carrow Road it was surrounded by terraced houses. The council have obviously regenerated the area as Oldham Council could have done around Boundary Park. At the end of the day Oldham Council are an albotross around the neck of Oldham Athletic and almost every resident of this town.
  4. He was player of the month and he scares you. That really scares me!
  5. How will the stadium and its facilities compete with facilities at Sport city both now and in the future ? How will the ground's facilities create a sense of community within the OAFc fanbase, as it is not sited at the heart of the community?
  6. Not having the lounge must be a major blow. Why can't BB use the learning centre classroom on matchdays ?
  7. Agreed, its not a good situation to blood the kids in, it could wreck their careers particularly if the BP moaners get onto them
  8. Its not about having a go at me, I will be there on Saturday, away at Walsall at Norwich etcc........... The facts are that enough die hards are weakening in their support, to cause grave concern that the fan base is eroding. I just hope that we can look back on the sacking of Shez, the demolition of the Lookers and the move to Failsworth as master strokes.
  9. We have had the inevitable loss of the glory seeking fans who only turn up when the going is good. Unfortunately we now have serious die hards, long standing season ticket holders and travelling away fans questioning why they should attend. As much as we would like to smile and happy clap we cannot escape the fact that the match experience at BP is dire and has been for the last season. Brighton made more chances in the first half at Southampton yesterday than I have seen latics create at BP in the the last 3 matches at least. The type of football makes each match seem like Groudhog Day, apart from Milton Keynes they all blurr into one big bore. The ground move to Failsworth is another major irritant to many. Yes Keep The Faith, but lets hope it doesn't turn into Blind Faith, there are too few willing to Keep that.
  10. I always thought that this "Scum" thing was a bit of banter born out of football rivalry. Tonight they proved it is true on three counts: Too many of them disrupting the minutes silence , not just the odd nutter Coach loads of them banging on the coach windows abusing any innocent happening to be walking to the game minding their own business The time wasting compunded by Beckford's cynical smirk. The cancer runs through the club, on the pitch and off. Let them get promoted and languish in the Championship, but hopefully never in the Premiership again
  11. The argument about property devaluation is ficticious. I bought and sold a house within 5 minutes walk of BP ,the football ground was never mentioned by vendors purchasers or estate agents. In theory many latics fans may be looking for property near the ground, on reflection I think not,the problem is not the ground, but Failsworth. Even in the premiership days the inconvenience was minor, we didn't spend our days moaning about a minor irritation. Anyway I don't want us to move to Failsworth. I was going past Warrington Rugby League ground recently and thought what a good site, right in the heart of the town. Why don't we move somewhere close to town, near the bypass e.g. where the Alexander Retail Park is, surely that could only enhance the area.
  12. I've asked coppers stood around before at the Broadway junction why they don't direct the traffic, apparently they are not covered if something happens. No doubt they would be able to put a report in at the inquest, it is only a matter of time before someone gets knocked down.
  13. I agree,a big conern is the number of diehards still attending but rapidly entertaining thoughts of not wanting to go to BP. Product on the pitch (1 home win for how long ?) ,the lack of atmosphere, and the sorry state of the ground all combine to produce a sense of abject disollusionment for the most diehard fans.
  14. Exactly. The only contact we have had from a football club was fom Man City because my son (a Latics fan) went with his mate last year and had to join up to get in. Its called database mccccarketing. I had to explain that we were latics fans and ther was no chance of us buying season ticket at the council house, but it looks as though we are going to move to a Manchester Counccil House anyway. This is what we are up against, no competition for many.
  15. There is no point encouraging kids to attend and then after they are 16 expect them to pay full price. We lose so many fans in the 17-25 age bracket that as students/young adults can't afford to attend. Once dislocated from the club the link is broken for ever. Quite frankly my wife and I prefer to go to away matches now, but even that in this Southern based division is harder. We have been moved from the Lookers, then decamped to the RRE and this season have moved to the main stand paddock where the facilities are decrepid. That proves the point that we need a new ground, but where are we going? FAILSWORTH. How many fans want to move to Failsworth. Once the novelty has worn off if we think that 3,500 is bad we will be down to 2,500 without any trouble. Over the last 12 months even the most optimistic/ardent fans are getting totally hacked off and some are voting with their feet.
  16. If its such a bad deal should consider paying the penalty and taking a lower rate may save you money in the long run. The recession has been overhyped by the press that is why it is now dripping out that things aint as bad as they were made out, it is not armageddon. It has made people think about how they were budgetting which isn't a bad thing, which won't have helped season ticket sales. A proportion of those who haven't renewed ( not all ) will be the doom mongers who are also moaners at BP, so we may get an atmosphere at BP more like away games
  17. Give him a chance, the lad is working hard in the GYM to get fit, hardly pushing the boat out with this contract. Good luck Woolfy !
  18. Publicly embarrassing Stefan leaves a sour taste in the mouth and is symptomatic of what has gone on this season. We have been left with a shambles and there are deep rooted problems that go beyond the dressing room. Joe hinted at it when he said that things hadn't changed since his first spell and maybe that was not alltogether a good thing. Hopefully in time Dave Penney will be a catalyst for change throughout the club.
  19. The basic problem is that the Oldham public cannot be bothered to put their hands in their pockets to pay £20 for a one off attractive fixture say like Leeds or Peterborough at home. The same people are not going to stump up even £100 for a season ticket. Any drop in price will not result in sufficient extra sales to justify the drop in price. The problem isn't pricing just apathy. Hence the same season ticket holders less 20% fewer than last year will be asked to pay the same again.Times are hard and TTA are unfortunately between a rock and a hard place.
  20. Reflecting after Saturday's defeat I felt that there are serious problems behind the scenes that have been festering all season. The hope of getting into the playoffs was all that was papering over the cracks. With that hope gone TTA are embarking on a restructuring of OAFC with Joe as the "consultant" with nothing to lose able to carry through the hard decisions. TTA must surely have realised that OAFC is a club with an incredibly loyal hard core support, but a very small supporter base. With such a small base and their limited financial resources they can never achieve their ambitions. Unless they can sell quickly and bring the resources in, we will realise our level and Oldham as a town will get the team that it can viably support
  21. He made nice noises about Lidds, Hughes( is Buzzing) and Gregan last week. Dropped Lidds from the bench and Hughes is out the door, so we can't read too much into what he says
  22. If we get into the playoffs it would be a miracle. If that did happen we would be the form team and shouldn't be afraid of the play off games
